Fire hazard & brand killed my googletv.

    • +2

Is there an alternative? I'd love something like this to change our phones, tablet, Switch, watches, etc rather than a bunch of cables everywhere

      • Any other brand. Ozbargainers seem to like Anker, baseus and Belkin.

    • +3

What do you mean "brand killed my Google TV"?

    • -2

Pls know what kind of device you could use. Different devices need different inputs.

      • +1

Could you provide some of your chargers to someone who does reviews and tear downs?

There are numerous concerns raised by users - doing so would help with brand credibility.

    • Did you leave a review on Amazon?

  • +2

If these things are so bad, why are they even allowed to post on ozbargain?

    • +1

They work, until they trip an rcd and/or melt.

  • Dont understand why they don't use fuses like UK.

    • Red and circuit breaker are better than fuses (users don’t use wrong replacement fuse and don’t check for earth leaks)

  • Damn so cheap

    • You really get what you pay for with these.

    • +4

      Fire sale

  • Have to create account. Price unavailable on Amazon.

I've had a Heymix charger, kill two batteries in an laptop…
each battery was a genuine HP unit..
first one last the tell end of 6 months..
the new one, lasted 78 months tops..
the abttery are around $100 each.. plus a an hour of so of my time watching youtube videos on how to do the repalcement..

Just don't buy these pieces of junks..

    • +5

      lasted 78 months tops.

Dunno what your whinging about … 🤣

    • +6

You don't know what are you talking about, just making false claim. if it's the charger kill the battery, on the laptop motherboard the power controller chip and protection chip needed to be burned and melded badly, certainly not happening as you claim.

  • if you didn't have to to comment these things would have move neg votes than positive

    • +2

I don't even bother with neg votes, as it leads to me dealing with unhinged replies.

Some people here are desperate to defend dangerous junk. The original OEM chargers sell for next to nothing when sold in China.

      • -4

Thanks for remembering me, it means a lot.

  • Fire

  • Well this’d be a right bargain if it were any good

  • +1

Not Heymix branded but I noticed this the other day and it reminded me not to buy cheap dodgy chargers:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/australia/comments/z1n70g/powerbank…

  • Serious question: At this point should I just landfill my four-odd Heymix units bought from various OzB deals?

    • My 65W ones that I bought a fair while ago are still working fine and they have been everywhere.

My 100W one just died and had to initiate a return. 8 months and got a blinking light of death. Refused to charge any devices. Got my money back when returned back.

Using a Baseus one now in place of the 100W one.

    • That's a real concern, in fact all these lower tier brand including Baseus and Anker are badged from OEM maker, the brand has little effort on quality control. The real problem with these OEM maker including the close to top list one, they can have one batch very good then one batch fire hazard. Most the time are pretty good and improving but you never know nor informed when a bad batch are selling. These kind of universial charger is really convenient I love it, use it or not depend on how do you weigh convienant and potensial risk

  • Here for the comments

  • +2

Way too many issues reported by Ozbargainers to consider this brand.

  • -4

A lot of people say a lot of things about Heymix, but when you look into it a lot of the negative reviews are either fake or at least unverified on Amazon where Heymix sells most of their stuff. People make all these complaints about devices blowing up/catching fire. They're happy to go to the effort to leave negative reviews here, but they for some reason don't put them on Amazon where they supposedly bought the item from!!! Heymix Tech has 98% positive feedback which is actually quite high for an Amazon seller feedback. Most of Heymix items score well over 4 stars feedback, nothing amazing, but not the hell fire that some people would have you believe!

Here's a power board that's been torn down by a member:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/739401

There appears to be no surge protection, it's not wired correctly. The issues are not the kind of thing the average user would notice.

It's pretty much a fact that this is the only brand attracting these comments. Go search any reputable brand for the issues Ozbargainers experience with Heymix. You won't find the same reported incidents in the same ratio. It's not new accounts - they're generally established Ozbargain accounts.

      Here's some example feedback: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12887847/redir

Worth a look before considering purchase.

Maybe one of their competitors is paying them to lie. *puts on tinfoil hat*

See what I mean you're quoting from people that are putting up issues on Ozbargain, you'll notice that I've asked several of these people did you leave a review on Amazon, surprise surprise, no reply as they didn't actually buy it. These are the questions you should be asking them, did you leave a review on Amazon, but no, you only hear what you want to hear, you don't search for the truth. Ask those multiple people who you have linked above why they didn't leave a review, why so angry on OzBargain but don't complain on Amazon when they would get a refund, raise a complaint with Amazon or at least justice. Why complain on OzBargain but not leave a review, it doesn't make sense. You have repeatedly linked Amazon reviews that you knew were unverified or fake, I even informed you that 6 of the 10 links were fake, yet you still tell people about them. Here's one then you did it again, Ihfree links fake reviews againthen @ihfree suggests Ozbargainers check out these fake links again And yet another link to the same 6 out of 10 fake reviews

        • If Amazon deems them worthy of display, then yes, they should be factored into the purchase decision. Is your message "trust Amazon reviews but don't"?

You have this fantasy that people on Amazon review all products - most people don't care. I've ordered countless items and sent items back under warranty. I think i've left a review for about three items.

There are so many dodgy accounts and reviewers. Hell, you think this is an official Vine Reviewer account - https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/profile/amzn1.account.AGKVOPUE6… - with a dodgy blurry stock photo.

This also comes back to another point - most Heymix products do not have sufficient reviews to drown out possible fakes. Why take the risk on something with hardly any reviews.

How do you explain the Ozbargain user feedback? Do you think these users are just making things for fun? A lot of Ozbargain users have left reviews on products and they can easily be correlated with their Ozbargain comments.

    • We've covered this previously. Please don't lie.

There are at least 7 different sellers on Amazon. Heymix tech happens to be one of the higher rated sellers.

This particular charger is sold by AU Select with a 93% feedback:

      https://www.amazon.com.au/sp?ie=UTF8&seller=A1BJZUM7RTLM3C

      • -2

It's ironic how you state Please don't lie. then you put forward a seller "AU Select" that only sells 6 Heymix products and sells
more non Heymix stuff and has only 121 ratings where Heymix Tech has 449 ratings at 98% and sells only Heymix products.
        Nice try Pinocchio!!

        • +1

And the other Heymix sellers? You've cherry picked this for the sake of argument.

Here's the actual Amazon page for this product - 5 out of 14 mention coil whine. Probably a model to avoid.

@ihfree: So it amazes me how much of your life you devote to trying to get gotcha evidence with Heymix.
You keep putting up this link with multiple comments of people leaving neg comments here
you clearly spent a long time to search, collect and organise these comments,
yet not once did you stop to think why are these people not leaving a negative review on Amazon?
Not once have you asked them "did you leave a review on Amazon"?
I have, on several occasions asked if they left a review, not one reply!!
You have linked so many fake and unverified reviews, you clearly find Amazon reviews legitimate and important,
yet you will only believe what you want and will never ask for proof when you see something you want to believe.
According to your comments page half of your comments are criticizing Heymix,
That's a lot of focus on one subject for someone who already spends a lot of time on OzBargain.
I don't have an issue with your criticism of Heymix, some of it is probably warranted.
I wouldn't recommend Heymix products either. But if you're going to so much effort to do investigative journalism
at least check what you are telling OzBers is true before you publish it.

            • @PukeyLuke:

you clearly spent a long time to search, collect and organise these comments

Been down to your community centre and done a computer course yet? It probably took the same time it took you to hunt-and-peck your comment.

You have linked so many fake and unverified reviews, you clearly find Amazon reviews legitimate and important,
yet you will only believe what you want and will never ask for proof when you see something you want to believe.

You are the one going on about the ineffable review system.. If they were fake, Amazon would remove them. The unverified purchases are likely the technically challenged clicking "write a review" rather than going through the purchase page. They are more than likely tied to real users.

There are what look like fakes and I don't doubt there is something going on with the cheap chargers. I personally think all of these rebranded chargers should be avoided.

According to your comments page half of your comments are criticizing Heymix,
That's a lot of focus on one subject for someone who already spends a lot of time on OzBargain.

Stalking now? Also, right back at you given all your essays on Amazon/Heymix and criticism of other brands of charger.

I don't have an issue with your criticism of Heymix, some of it is probably warranted.

Lol, you tried to coin the term HH or "Heymix haters." You are clearly much more emotionally involved then you let on.

But if you're going to so much effort to do investigative journalism
at least check what you are telling OzBers is true before you publish it.

I feel I've already addressed your criticisms but here we are going over it all over again with you pulling up my older posts.

  • Despite bad reviews gonna give one a go, to power my soldering iron so it won't be used unattended. Wish me luck!
