ShopBack "eBay: 25% Cashback (No Cap) on Certified Refurbished Items @ ShopBack" Rejected from deal published on 28 Sep 22

Hi fellows

I believe I am not the only one on the deal above from shopback with no cap cashback on certified refurbished products.
I purchased blue tick certified products in one order from Sony Australia and my cashback being high end products amounted to just over $2k. Shopback did track it successfully and showing "estimated approval date 28 Nov 2022".

Today now it's mark as rejected.
FYI, order was fully paid by credit card with no coupons or no gift cards used.

I believe, it's a clear cash grab from shopback by simply mark as rejected.

Would like to know, if any of my fellow ozbargainers have been in same boat from that deal and how much you guys are potentially loosing.

I have submitted a claim and waiting to hear back from them.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Edit : It was the deal 25% cash back on 28 Sep 2022.

Thanks

Hey all, thanks for reaching out here, sorry for the trouble here! I've gone to our team here with this and they've identified the problem and have worked to fix this up, word is that the statuses will be corrected within the next 48 hours. If you're still seeing this come Wednesday, definitely reach out and I'll do my best to assist.

      • thanks

      • Appreciate the effort as always GYB!

    • Thanks

    • thanks.

    • +1

Hey GYB, has the fix gone through yet? Looks like its still showing up as rejected for all of us.

      • +3

Checking on this now for you all mate

    • Hi GYB, Still shows rejected for me. Is that we need to wait longer?

  • +2

Mine is still showing as pending. I always screen record the purchase session so have A-Z proof should they reject later for whatever reason. Thanks for the heads up though as you made me check.

    • Thanks for the reply. I do have screenshots saved as well as full order details. I didn't wanna take risk anyway in this case.

      • Send @gotyourback a PM - He'll have your back :)

        • +1

          Thanks , will do

Lol I screen recorded my whole transaction (not for above deal), sent it to them in a YouTube private link, and they didn't even click it and still sent me the stock standard rejection email. Even when I asked them to view the video they still said nope. Only after I sent it to gotyourback then he credited me but faark I was so pissed off by then.

Only after I sent it to gotyourback then he credited me

At least the rep here on ozbargain lives up to his name

        • only because they can't get away with it when public scrutiny's involved

      • I'll reach out as well.

I share your situation and have commented on the original post. (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/732347/comments)

    • Thanks, sorry just realised it was the deal on 28 Sep 25% cashback. Have updated my post accordingly.

      • Yes, you are right. I might have quoted the wrong thread. This "https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/727275" should be the right one. Mine also showed 28 Nov 2022 as the "estimated approval date"

  • I believe, it's a clear cash grab from shopback by simply mark as rejected.

Yes, it does unfortunately. I don't think so till a recent experience. Previously, I think when the purchase is tracked automatically (not by claim), it has to be approved in the case that there is no way to verify the progress of the purchase.

Another possibility is the issue with a merchant who does not pay cashback site properly or on time.

What is the purpose of this and the other 100 other posts about shopback/cash rewards?
There are well known store reps for both, and there are also a tonne of others saying it didn't track and they won't help.

Surely at this point you use it at your own risk?
Not trying to be a douche canoe but I genuinely don't see why people keep posting these

    • +1

It's called a rant and the prospect of losing $2k is quite a good reason for it. Can't speak for the "others", but I simply shared what's happened to myself and I don't have a hidden agenda as you are supposedly insinuating. I am sure OP is doing everything he/she can to resolve this.

I am grateful and feel that it is a fortunate thing to be able to freely talk about things, this deters unjust practices and encourages the right ones. it tells you that the community/society is relatively healthy and has the ability to bounce back to a healthy state when falling ill, unlike places governed by totalitarianism where deleting a comment is as easy as clicking a button.

You may not appreciate the rant of the OP's or mine, as did I seeing your inconsiderate comment but we let it be shown publicly regardless in situations like this to help improve the shopping experiences of all the customers.

      • What hidden agenda am I suggesting you have???
You're all too welcome to freely talk about it, as I am to ask what the point of it is.
I'm merely saying that we have so so many of these posts, that at what point do you just realise that it's not a guarantee you will get your cash back with purchase, so be aware of that going in?

          Hi OP
I think it’s worth putting it out there and raising a voice against unethical business practices.
Just FYI the reason given by Shopback is as below :
          1. Your order was cancelled, returned or exchanged , partially or fully.
          2. Your order was paid for with gift voucher.
          3. Payment or stay was not completed.

As mentioned in my post, none of these apply.

If that’s happening so regularly, then it’s worth poll together and raise a voice.
          Thanks

@gotyourback Please advise - quite a few people, myself included, are in the same situation. Did everything I was supposed to and nothing that I wasn't supposed to, but still have had a substantial cashback rejected - and this is on top of the existing Deliveroo fiasco!

    • @poppingtags, got your PM. Just checked, yeah, mine CB was rejected too.

If the CB was not there in the first place, I would not buy that SONY refurbished TV in the first place!

      • +1

Given that none of us have had their cashback approved, it sounds like it might be a system issue. Hopefully they can resolve it ASAP.

  • Thanks a lot for poppingtags' reminder. I did nothing wrong and found out that the cashback being changed from pending to rejected. So this must be sth wrong with ebay or shopback.

  • +1

I also had all my refurb purchases in that promo rejected. May be an issue because they were manually added when tracking did not track automatically that time? Who knows 🤷‍♂️ I have sent GYB a message for them to look into it and advise.

  • Mine is also now showing as rejected - despite being promised by the rep on the OzBargain thread that it would be honored.

  • Just checked and also just got rejected. Surely there is something wrong

    • Cashback may be used to fund Deliveroo giftcard refund.

  • Mine was also rejected.

No coupon used, no return/exchange, paid on card, item delivered etc.

I very carefully clicked through from shop back without clicking any other banners on eBay (no ad blockers or anything either).

Absolutely no reason for this to be rejected, if the offer was genuine.

  • Yeah, same here rejected and disappointed… :(
Lets hope its just a system error and gets fixed!

  • Damn I thought I was the only one. Hopefully some automate scripts broke over the weekend and they'll fix it come Monday. Hang in there guys, I've been through lots of these issues and eventually they resolve it. If not, that makes the decision to stop using shopback easier, lol.

  • Same. Showing rejected as well.

  • rejected here. reported

  • +1

Thanks OP for staying alert and starting thread.

Also thanks poppingtags for reaching out.

And thanks for your support gotyourback.

Figured I'd post my appreciation here rather than spam your messages inbox.

Thanks to our great community and @gotyourback for reaching out and sorting it out for us all.

    • +4

Nah it's all you guys, thanks for being on the ball so I can be here to help.

  • Still rejected!

    • +1

as noted above…….statuses will be corrected within the next 48 hours

  • Hopefully, it will be fixed. Mine was rejected too.
I have used eBay gift cards as ShopBack allows to use gift cards as a payment on their policies. I did not use any coupon or voucher.

  • +2

48 hours passed. Anyone had their cash back approved yet? Mine have not, will have to contact GYB…

  • Just noticed mine has been rejected too.

  • +1

    No update yet, still rejected

    • Let's hope we get an update soon 🙂

  • +2

I had a response from GYB after mine were still showing rejected, sounds like they are still working on it:

Super odd, we might be having a bit of an issue with our system look-up. Let me take a look into it and I'll get back to you ASAP.

    • +2

Cash backs just showed up as “tracked” again but not approved yet…

      • Same here, let's hope we wont have to wait another couple of months till it's approved 🙂 lol

        • +1

Status now says “available 02 Dec 2022”.

      • +2

Same here.. Says "Available by 02 Dec 2022" but the new tracked amount is slightly different from the previously tracked amount. Not that I'm fussed about a dollar or so as long as it comes through.

  • Cashback just got confirmed. Thanks @gotyourback

  • cashback just got confirmed here as well, thanks @gotyourback

  • Thanks GYB for sorting it out. I am a happy chappy today.

  • Hmmmm, max $300 withdrawal in 24h, never knew that. Then again, never had a cashback this big. Appreciate it @gotyourback!

    • You can also use the balance to pay for discounted gift cards from their online shop.

  • +1

    Still rejected for me

    • +2

      me too.

      • Any update @gotyourback? Seems like this was only fixed for some people.

  • +2

Still shows rejected for me. I guess i should wait longer?

  • Also confirmed + available to withdraw :)

  • Not to look a gift house in the mouth @gotyourback as the cashback is better than nothing, and really appreciate the communication and your contribution, but just wondering why is it a few dollars short of original as others have reported?

    • +1

Happy to take a proper look into how it was calculated for you mate, shoot me a DM with the details if you haven't already and I'll get to it ASAP.

      • My cashback from 24/Oct 20% cashback got rejected

        • Taking a look at your DM now mate!

          • @gotyourback: Hi @gotyourback my cashback is also rejected from same 24th oct 20% cashback deal. I have messaged you so please check i just purchased the product just because of shopback cashback. Hope you help. Thanks

  • +1

Approved! GYB managed to fix everything! Thank you!

  • @gotyourback merry Christmas n happy new year ! Hope to shed some lights my 24/10 20% got rejected 2 days ago did sent my photos proof hope you can help

  • Likewise, mine was originally approved but payment got rejected last week.

Very annoying as everything was above board and now having to submit a dispute with pics. From memory, one now has to wait a further month or two for that to process. As long as it is paid all will be well (minus the having to follow-up headache)

    • Follow-Up: A new entry was added to my SB account for the "rejected" amount and showed as "Pending". It did however just get approved and took in under a week so that's great. Was all sorted quickly and I did not have to wait a couple of months in this instance as noted above. Thanks SB, nice work in sorting.

  • My cashback is still rejected. Don't know how much more to wait.

    • Did you contact them/submit a dispute on the rejected item. One should have then received a ticket number via email which you can reply to and ask

      • Yes i have contacted them they said to wait more and I also messaged @gotyourback but no reply yet

  • +1

Looks like the problem still exists for items purchased during Black Friday (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/738658).. Had my $499 purchase (~$99 cashback) rejected despite the item having the blue tick, paying with Paypal and it being tracked successfully.

Have lodged a request to get it approved - hopefully it gets fixed up, but maybe you might need to investigate all of them again @gotyourback

    • Hey mate, will need to to this case by case as I haven't seen any spikes in rejections. Happy to take a look at yours if you shoot me a DM!

      • I’ll give the support people a couple of days to sort it out and will let you know if no luck with them, cheers

    • Issue sorted now

  • I just had the same experience for the black friday deal.

Every small transaction I made on that day just came through approved, and the $200 cashback for the refurbished item just got rejected.

    • To update on this one for anyone else encountering this, this got solved after DMing gotyourback.

I got the cashback and cashed it out today.

  • Yep just noticed that my refurb cashback from the Black Friday 20% offer was also rejected, item blue ticket, no coupons, etc @gotyourback

    • Hey there mates, sorry I missed your comments, happy to help out here. If you haven't already, shoot me a DM with your account email and I can take a look into these for you ASAP to see what the go is. Rejections come from the stores themselves, so will have to check why the purchases have been marked as invalid.

      @toniyellow FYI

  • I lodged my request on 23 Jan and am still waiting for an answer on it. Asked about it on 2 Feb and got told it's still being looked at. Messaged @gotyourback but haven't heard anything back from that yet.

    • Sorry mate, I took some time off recently so have been running a tad behind, but I'll take a look at your DM now.
