  • sydney waayyyy too expensive now - where's a cheaper but still ok place in aus to move to?

  • Sydney restaurants doing it tough….

    …. And they wonder why…

Even these so called specials hardly motivate me to want to make a booking let alone actually go there…

$35 or $70…… Who has that sort of $$$ to throw around on a feed?

Give me group buying deals any day…. Make them compete for our custom.

They need to get their heads and egos out of the boom time celebrity chef clouds and start being more realistic if they want to survive the spate of recent restaurant closures.

  • +1

The prices are probably quite good for those establishments. I've only been to Oliveto and it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't outstanding.

Looking at the list, I think I'd much rather spend $30 on a three course lunch at Blancharu - been going there for years, food is always at fine dining standards, without the price tag. It's also has a casual cafe setting. For those who care, Chef Haru has had 2 chef's hats.

    • thanks for the recommendation. will try Blancharu :)

      • I hope you'll like it :)

  • most buffets are less than $30.

  • Comments on a few:
Chat Thai: just go to the Galleries Victoria outlet for lunch and order boat noodles for A$10. $30 for 2 Thai courses is getting a bit steep although it is usually packed in the Centrepoint one.
Bar Luca: Have a A$12 angus rump steak with chips and salad for dinner which isn't too bad.
Sake: I reckon you will need some premium sake once you see the bill - good food though.
Mad Cow - that offer is very good value

    • +1 the Chat Thai comment - they're a little overrated. Santang Thai definitely gets my vote for one of the better Thai food in Sydney.
