Good looking phone, pity it's a Samsung (due to the below)

I'm currently getting zero customer support from Samsung for a product under warranty. I'm more interested in the feedback of all others that have had similar issues in the past or have positive outcomes - if so, how do you get Samsung to respond with a repair or replacement, when you've tried for over 2 months and counting?

    • I've had a similar experience which is a stark difference to my previous experiences.

They dragged me through the "Samsung member" app to get support and I got nothing but frustration.

I would say just go directly into a repair centre.

    • Go into a samsung store?

Seconding this. Took about 5 mins at one of their stores last time. They took the phone, and had it shipped back repaired after a few days.

    • Love their hardware, not a fan of their software.

Some of OneUI is nice, I like the reachability features. But it just feels a bit soulless and we've got so much soulless design atm.

    • Also having a horrible time repairing my fold that doesn't completely unfold. It costs me 900 to replace the hinge which includes interior screen and housing. They won't fix it under warranty as the glass back cracked. I thought they could just clean the hinge to make it unfold properly but apparently they can't. I'll be selling my fold 3 once I get it back. Never again!

Got my fold 3 recently fixed under warranty. Tried to open it in the morning and heard/felt a crack as i did.

Went instore snd they took my details. Got it back the next day with new components.

    • I went to Samsung Store in Sydney CBD for a complimentary screen protector replacement (flip phone). Samsung store confirmed they have technicians onsite but they need to send the phone to Homebush for screen protector replacement (3-5 days).

Samsung later told me their partner store Dr Boom is just downstairs and can replace the screen protector within 30min. They gave me a Samsung business card with the shop name and contact. I went to Dr Boom and got a quote of $89 for a screen protector replacement.

I went home and paid $149 swap fee for SamsungCare+. The replacement phone came within 3 days. Completed the return and claimed 90% of the swap fee back via AMEX insurance.

The replacement phone started bubbling around the hinge after 2 weeks. :)

    • Never again with Samsung - only way to get them to repair a product under warranty is to sue them.

Go in-store and say that you want to raise a VOC case to head office. The guys in Sydney will assign a Case manager to your particular situation.
What is the issue if you don't mind me asking? If you are confident your issue is within warranty or under ACL, be persistent and stern. Good luck. Source: Used to work for them.

My fold 4 hinge started to play up, stopped opening flat about 2 weeks ago, purchased in August directly from Samsung.
Took it to a samsung store last Sunday - staff member checked it and immediately said it was a fault with the hinge/internals.
Sent it to local authorised samsung repairer, repaired by Thursday morning and picked up Thursday afternoon. Much better service and turnaround than I was expecting.

  • Yeah I'm seeing a common theme here and after reach productreviews.com and posting my issues, I was contacted over a week ago to find out the issues, gave all my details and nothing still.

Samsung do offer discount vouchers to buy more of there stuff when you contact their customer service department.. however I'm not spending another cent, for any Samsung product until they show some real customer support.

  • @OP how would warranty work on these? Are you an authorized Samsung reseller? Lately I've seen a fair few cases of warranty getting rejected by brands if the product has not been bought from a "brand authorized" reseller. The consumer law helps, but I'd rather not jump through hoops for a 2k purchase.

    Too much, has been cheaper

    • Do you remember what the lowest price you've seen was? I only remember the EDU store bundling ones

      • $1399. But you had to also get 3 other Samsung products like watch and ear buds.

        • Thanks! I think that was the bundle thing from the EDU store.

I wonder if it'll come back, because I think that's the best deal so far and probably for the next couple of months. Been looking around FB marketplace and Gumtree for it too, but honestly don't know if it's safe to buy from there or not.

          • @UnpluggedBox: Yeah, best deal for a few months I say.
But Samsung has deals regularly, so if you can wait, then wait.

  • @ agefreak. We offer 1 year Samsung warranty. We will be providing a tax invoice for the purchase which should be retained for warranty purposes. Please be informed,we are an authorized reseller for Samsung products.
