    • whats the chance 3070 laptops will be around this price when 40 series becomes available?

      • +2

Highly doubt it will go down as low as quick as you'd expect. Let's say if the 40 series is being sold at a premium price point of $2,000 and onward then we might be looking at sub $1,300-1,400 for 3070 in the upcoming months. Historically the lowest 3070 on a laptop I've seen so far is $1,600 so we can definitely hope 3070 be the new 3060 in terms of budget pricepoint. Right now that throne belongs to the RTX3050 and RTX3050Ti laptops with the RTX3060 laptop spring in intermittently.

  • +1

    I bought one, Thanks OP.
Going to sell my older gaming laptop with a 1650Ti, luckily this HP laptop looks easy to upgrade and I can use my current upgrades is this one (32GB RAM, 2TB m.2).

  • You can upgrade ram on this too?
It is very cheap for the specs.

    I honestly don't need the GPU, I don't game.

    Just work, and music production.

How much is a RAM upgrade?

  • Harvey Norman fan club are pushing this deal.

  • Interested but the only concern is the screen hinge issue which is mentioned in every online review

  • I ordered the Acer Swift from the BF deal from Harvey just got delivered today, what’s the chance of returning it for store credit so I can buy this instead! They could of posted this up a few days earlier dammit!

    • +2

Come Boxing Day, there will be another deal.

      It's never ending.

      • If there is stock left…

        • I mean as in a better deal!

          • @[Deactivated]: There is no better deal than HP Victus. This will be out of stock soon. It’s arguably better value than the Kraken M15, which is out of stock. This really only leaves Acer Nitro and Lenovo Legion deals for Boxing Day sales…

            • +3

@MuddyClear: No current better deal, but Boxing Day end of year sales are coming up.

There's always a better deal around the corner, doesn't matter when you buy.

              • @[Deactivated]: Right. It won’t be around the corner though, but that’s just my opinion.

    • +1

I rang my local store and asked if possible to return the Acer Swift and she said they could probably work something out, so I took a chance ordered this online. Took Acer to my store today unopened and they refunded full amount (minus the $15 shipping). Very surprised and happy!

  • 3060 in a laptop just over $1k, wowee.

  • Wish they had a change of mind refund policy

  • no more click and collect available at least in metro VIC I think. Delivery only now

  • How do folks feel this compares to the Harvey Norman Acer Nitro i5-11400h, 8gb, 515gb, rtx3060 back in August at same price as $1098? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/719654

Or the October deal of Acer Nitro i7-11800h, 8gb, 512gb, rtx3050 in October for $998? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/731399

I ask as may be able to buy the 3050 one from friend who never opened. It also included COD-MW and a couple other games (of which kids likely won't play)

As for stock after Christmas, having looked Black Friday weekend as Affordable Samsung 85" and Soundbar at Goodguys - as an indicative example - they said everything sold out and won't get stock expected until January. Gentleman indicated that their view is deals at Black Friday as removed a bunch of stock and the deals heading into christmas and boxing day may be harder to find as there will be no stock in country. Wonder if may be applicable for gaming laptops - with all recent deals, will there be stock.

    • Ryzen 7 5800H > i7-11800H

    • There is a huge difference between 3050 & 3060

    • +1

      Victus
      - bigger and better quality screen
      - more ram at 16gb
      - better thermals
      - better build

      Acer
      - no screen wobble
      - intel cpu more power
      - rgb keyboard backlight

    Oos

    Finally OOS, saved $1.1k.

    • +1

Boxing Day is not far away , should have more deals coming

    • After reading, I am actually convinced I should have bought it. I got a dell monitor, so it would be a good value desktop computer. JB don't stock these. Does anyone know the furthest angle the screen bend to?

  • +2

    They just cancel my order!

    • can they even do that?! there is still stock but not at the stores. which location?

      • Brisbane

    • What time did you order?

      • I placed my order at 10:37 and they emailed me 10 minutes earlier (oos at the same time) saying they would not accept my order. Interesting

        • +1

Looks like more than half of the orders will be cancelled then. I did mine an hour ago lol

        • I ordered in Brisbane at 10:33. Ready to collect at 11:03.
          (Brisbane time)

          • +1

@Phoebus: Carindale store? I also placed the collect order

            • @zxryve: Maybe they have run out of stock and got too many orders, have a email saying mine is on its way (postage).

              • @zCrimson: Where you located?

                • @RockyK9: Brisbane, ordered at @9:14am.

                  • @zCrimson: I'm in Victoria, just got shipping confirmation. Would've saved $25 had I ordered earlier for C&C !

            • @zxryve: Yep. At the time there was stock at Capalaba too. Looks like the system didn't track the stock levels fast enough so you dipped out. At least you saved $1,100

what's a bargain 2TB Gen3 Nvme SSD to go with this?

    • +1

You can have two M.2 drives in this laptop, the one it has is a WD SN730 512GB which is slower then a Samsung 970EVO.

      • What type of m.2 drives?

  • Ordered my one @9:14am, have a email @12:37pm.

Your package is on its way
Your package from Harvey Norman is expected to arrive on
    Friday 2 December

  • Slightly off topic but how come JB Hi-Fi rarely offer these type of deals that HN keep delivering each month.

The cheapest gaming laptop that JB have on sale at the moment is a 3050ti for $1549 https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/dell-g15-15-6-fhd-gaming-…

I would prefer to buy from JB for a few reasons but they just aren't competitive in this space.

    • +6

Gerry Harvey has devoted his life to giving bargains to battling gamers

    • The i5 version only has a 3050 not a 3050ti

  • Cheers OP! 🍻

Was thinking of pulling the trigger on the 2022 Acer one posted a couple of days back but the price went up. Ordered this one for delivery and already on the way. Let's see if it turns out all right. 🤌

  • is there affordable docking station for this? i have dell 27 inch monitor.

  • Can you upgrade ram on this to 32gb? How much would that set you back usually?

  • Cool, mine shipped :)

  • +1

its interesting that it struggles with cod ghosts from 2013…

  • I bought one in Perth awaiting pick up, but gonna cancel the order. Anyone want to take it over? (Not even sure if that can be done).

    • Could be interested, will PM

  • There is another R5 version available with a 3050 for 888 also https://www.harveynorman.com.au/hp-victus-16-1-inch-r5-5600h…

    • What's the difference with the advertised by OP, is it just the ram?

      • +1

        and the GPU is different.

      • +1

The screen quality is worse on lower tier models so avoid

        • If the price is $600 on boxing day, will it be worthwhile to consider?

          • +1

@htc: That would be a personal choice. My recommendation is to buy the best within your budget.

  • +2

I managed to phone order a R7 model interstate.. call your local store and ask them to check who has stock nationally. There are still a few around in boxes.

    • Is it $25 delivery fee? Do you pay by credit card over the phone to order?

      • +2

Yes paid by cc over the phone. The delivery they wanted $50 but I ended up getting 2 and they charged 50 delivery all up.

    • I cancelled my order this morning, so you probably got my cancelled one. Lol

      • The orders are issued to the stores automatically and if they don't have stock they cancel it. If you call a store and find out which stores have stock then call that store you can probably get one

        • I already ordered one and paid for it, awaiting pickup. I changed my mind this morning, and cancelled my order. So the laptop I had probably came up on the system as being available.

  • Does anyone have an opinion of the Victus Desktop at HN? https://www.harveynorman.com.au/hp-victus-r5-5600g-16gb-512g…
Similar(ish) specs in a desktop, little but more money but wondering whats out there at or below this pricepoint that compares?

    • This one is comparable. Pay an extra $50 to upgrade the CPU to 5600, brings it to $1249.
      https://www.bpctech.com.au/product/sv-syberspring01-siren-vo…

      • Nice, thanks for sharing that!

        • +2

I believe the BPC box does not come with a Windows licence, which is worth keeping in mind if that's something of importance to you

    • If you don't need the portability of a laptop, then a desktop will perform heaps better. A 3060ti desktop benches about 50% better than a 3060 mobile.

  • +1

Received mine it's no MacBook but even for general day to day use it doesn't seem too bad. Decent screen, quality keyboard and touchpad, not too bulky and pretty snappy. Going by reviews thought screen wobble might be a problem but even using it on the lap it's hardly noticeable. A MagSafe sort of magnetic charging connector would have been nice but other than that quite happy with it thus far. Haven't tried any gaming or PCVR on it yet though might give that a crack in the weekend.

    Again cheers OP great find!

    • +1

Update us with your thoughts on gaming with it this weekend please.

      • Will do champ if I get some free time. I'm new to PC gaming though I bought this mainly to try out PCVR.

        • +1

          Isn’t pcvr gaming too?

  • Ordered yesterday morning in WA - got an email saying to bring ID when picking it up.

Went in to pick it up, no sign of my order.

Wtf is wrong with this organisation? I have not purchased a single thing from HN for a good 20 years and it looks like that trend is yet to continue. But they do have $1098 of my money for the time being.

    • Tell them to find you another one and send it to you

    • Looks like you ordered when it just went out of stock. You may have gone to pick up without the proper pickup notification. You will get a refund. No problem - Harvey Norman Employee

      • +1

The fact that people might confuse a pick up details email with a prooer pick up notification is a red flag.

4 days now and no word. My payment has not been returned. Nobody answers their phone.

        • 5 days.

My purchase has not been assigned to a store, so nobody at any store can help me. You cannot call anybody who is not associated with a store.

There is an online form to fill out to get info, but you need to agree to a 20 page privacy policy, in order to figure out where my money / laptop are.

I guess i will just charge it back.
