341

Star Casino are running a promotion for a free buffet lunch - mon-fri and free $20 bet. All you had to do is sign up to their absolute rewards program which is free and done in the casino (takes about 15 minutes depending on the line).

Obviously must be over 18. The offer is only available to new customers - however existing customers can still dine at the buffet for $10 during weekday lunch time until 31st August

You'll need to get a new card, guess you haven't been there for a while :). Just go to one of the desks and sign up for a new one, don't know if they'd honour it if you got a replacement card for your old one

You will get a new one and the free buffet and $20

Too bad you can only claim your free buffet lunch during weekdays. As if I am gonna take a day off work to grab a free lunch, just to lose all my money back on the table.

    • For the lucky ones that work nearby…. we are not complaining. Although my first attempt is a failure as there was a 1hr+ queue today!

      • I work nearby but only get half hr for lunch so can't go during the week :( But free $20 bet on blackjack after work will work out lol.

    • $20 free bet. $10 on red $10 on black, hope it doesn't land in 0.
      I'm sure they don't allow this…

      • Do you know if they don't? (Genuine question.) Maybe you cannot split your voucher? In which case it's almost 50-50 whether you lose it or double your money. In which case, team up with somebody else with a voucher and bet one colour each.

        • It's not exactly 50/50.

          You lose if 0/00

Yes they allow it. But you'd be stupid to put $10 on red $10 on black. Your odds are less if you do it that way.

        • Yes, that's why I wrote almost. I didn't want to go into a big mathematical discussion about 36/37 or 38, etc. The interested can go look it up on Wikipedia.

        • they dont; all has to be on one (min $25 for odd even) i think

$20 bet must be bet all at once, you don't get the $20 bet back if you win, also you can't bet less than $25 on red or black anywhere in the casino. (You need to bet at least 5x the minimum bet on the evens.)

        • This is correct.

went there yesterday… $20 bet voucher must be bet all at once with no split , you get only $20 real cash back if you win ( not $40 ).

I used the voucher, keep winning until $40 real cash… and lost all of them after. Damnnnn

yesterday, there was 100+ in the queue for the buffet, i gave up after half an hour of waiting.

    • Still $20 free bet is good.
7 of us went last night and used it 6/7 of us won our BlackJack hand and got the normal casino chips from the winnings.

  • Yes unfortunately there are usually always long waiting lines - worsened by late opening of doors and slow working staff at check in pay counters which all should be staffed during peak times but management needs to look at that as well

  • So when does the buffet open exactly?

Queues are very long - minimum one hour wait to get in.

Big mistake if you go during school holidays.

When you get to the front of the queue the table allocation process is dysfunctional and much slower than it should be.

It was painful to queue for more than an hour this week and see this messy allocation ''system''.

They have a staff member repeatedly blaring out the numbers via a radio of the size tables he needs for varying size customer groups to table allocation staff throughout the restaurant.

But he may as well be talking to a brick wall.

This causes confusion and slows the process of allocating people who to tables and the giant queue.

Instead they should have table spotters/controllers who alert the queue controller via radio or wifi device the instant a table is free and in which zone.

Customers should also have the option of sticking solely with their own group (and waiting longer to get their exact size table) or being seated faster if they are happy to share a table with randomly allocated other people. This would mean that almost every seat in the restaurant would be full almost all the time. Instead many tables of four seats now have two people on them or twin tables have one diner - while massive queues wait for these people to finish their meal.

If you do go to the buffet and have a spare seat/s at your table ask the staff to find a diner/diners to join you.

Thus the queue would move much faster and tables would be filled more quickly instead of sitting empty.

I don't blame staff - they struggle with the process they are given. But management need to take a ''helicopter'' view of this chaos and urgently revamp the process.

All they are doing now is giving away $10 buffets to people who would be so angered by the long queue that they would not want to return to the casino again. Defeats the purpose of the promotion.

Again - avoid the buffet during school holidays! It will only get worse

  • you still need to pay $20 for parking. only if they let you the free bet to pay for car park ;-)

  • Does anyone know what time does this "Lunch" operate? I don't mind an early or late lunch if I can avoid the long queues.. Thanks

  • 11.30-3.30PM. I suggest heading there around 2pm to avoid the long wait.
