  • This or basilisk for WFH comfort? I've only ever owner a Razer Naga mouse for MMOs

Otherwise was considering the Logitech G502 for the adjustable weight

    • +1

I've been using this for WFH and it's been great. Feels similar in shape and vibe to my Razer Naga I use on my personal PC

I bought this mouse for $95 in July 2020 after using a few others I wasn't happy with. My hands are on the bigger side and I find it really comfortable to use and I've been happy with it. A great pickup @ $34 IMO.

Shape is very subjective. I prefer the Basilisk shape, Deathadder feels smaller in my hand because of the placement of the bump, it's actually a bit irritating. Deathadder is lighter, so that's better, but otherwise Basilisk V3 has better features for working, more buttons and hyperscroll.

    • I have been using basilisk X for work and have a 2nd one for office/home. But recently the rubber grips on the side start to be comes sticky :( No luck trying to remove it so far, probably because from the heat in my home or general decay..

Considering another mouse but have general concerns over Razer's rubber grip now… Anyone have thoughts around the DeathAdder's rubber grip, any issue?

My first razor is the Deathadder original (before they introduced essential etc, not even sure what the differences are now), but I always felt that old death adder has a better shape, the basilisk X feels smaller on the thumb/palm area (maybe I'm just imagining things).
PS. My First basilisk X also had issues around its clicking in the first round, but props to Razer support, they just asked me to send them a photo of ripping the bottom sticker apart, and sent me a new one

Overall I'm sure any gaming style mouse like basilisk or death adder is better than apple Magic Mouse… and the MX Master is too expensive imo (I had a MX2, riddled with problems back then).

Appreciate any help I can get for Razer's quality. Thanks

Thats a problem with a lot of Chinese soft plastics, use some tea-tree oil on a rag to clean it off (you can also use eucalyptus oil too but its more expensive) ~ both are great for cleaning off labels, stickers and the like too

        • Thanks will try. I also tried using an eraser and it kinda works.

Damn it where are the Basilisk V3 Pro deals at?!

  • Good mouse, I got it for BF and haven't regretted it! If longevity is anything like my last Deathadder (the Chroma one from 2016, I think?) then it'll be going for years to come.

I have a few mouses already but… buy first, think later!

This makes those DeathAdder basic models for $29 look like shocking value.

    • I bought that 2 weeks ago :(

      • I returned mine when I realised it was different to this one. Bought this one for $42, now this on is even cheaper. Bought this one, return the one coming. A lot of mucking around!

        • You could contact amazon. They've issued me a full refund in a similar situation - walked away with 2 items after only paying for the cheaper one.

          • @Walleee-y: I tried with them before to get a price difference refund, they said they can't so I'd have to send it back. I then ordered a second item, and returned the more expensive one. Waste of time and effort for everyone, but this is how they do.

            • @Budju: Curious if you would have accepted Amazon credit for the difference?

I feel like this would be a win/win. They're getting your money and saving on shipping, the customer gets the cheaper price in a way. Unless of course they do the run around to discourage people from trying to get the cheaper price.

              • @TheContact: Credit wasn't offered until returning the item. At that point I just asked for cash because I had the choice. I would have obviously just accepted credit if that was offered.

They probably just don't offer this becase it would mean more people would take advantage of it, causing more calls, more effort overall. Maybe only 1/10 people would bother to do an actual return for cheaper price hehe.

                • @Budju: I imagine most people wouldn't even check, so it doesn't have to be a stated policy, just something they could offer if you ask them. Maybe even after you point out that it's a bit ridiculous and wasteful on all sides to do a full return.

Preaching to the choir, but it's s just so dumb that they're happy to absorb a return rather than offer some amount of credit or something as an alternative.

                  • @TheContact: Yeah I agree. The last thing I did this on was expensive ram shipped from Germany to Australia, through Sweden, so it came around the world just to be returned lol. Probably only was returned to Australia factory though.

    • I got mine for $14

      • how

      • thats a different mouse.. essentials not v2, may look the same, but its different

  • If only this is wireless.

    • +4

Nothing a pair of scissors can't fix.

      • Touché!

  • Thanks, ordered one :)

  • +1

Great price, but I bought this (Razer Basilisk Wireless) instead with $15 extra, as I prefer the wireless connection and this seems to have good battery life, unsure how it compares to DeathAdder V2 though in term of spec

Does this version have the rubber grips on the side, or are they simple plastic grooving like some of the cheaper models?

The rubber bits always fall off unlike the bare plastic on the Essential, but this has the dedicated DPI buttons which the Essential doesn't :(

    • I am using the exact same mouse now so I can confirm that it does have rubber grips on the side and now that you have mentioned it, I noticed that the rubber bits are pretty much worn out on my copy.

However, that doesn't bother me. I have used original DeathAdder mouse and it was plastic on the sides. Rubber wearing out and revealing the plastic underneath is simply reverting back to its original form.

      • Ha!

I appreciate your positivity but I find the bare smooth plastic underneath the rubber quite uncomfortable, it just feels slippery even if it isn't really, and also the ridges where the rubber pads would normally be flush is somehow distracting, like a reminder that you're holding something broken or damaged. On the other hand, the simple texturing on the plastic sides is like, 85% as good as the rubber, but 100% more likely to stay as-is without peeling off.

  • I need to spend minimum $39 in order to use my amazon au in store credit, any recommended cheap items to go with this mouse?

  • +1

Thx OP, just bought 3 units with pricematch at OW, down to $32.30 EA. lol

  • +1

If you have a perks voucher, maybe you can try pricematching with JB? $24 is pretty good.

  • it's a shame razer stopped making the left handed deathadder it was the best leftie mouse

  • I got this for $19

  • Any idea if this is an upgrade from my getting old now deathadder elite?
