Waiting for the TKL version to go on sale…

I bought one of these keyboards, straying from my Logitech fanboy standards. Initially I found it to be a decent keyboard, nothing special.

After about a year of use they keycaps started to flick off with any sideways pressure (from moving my hands around while playing games and pressing keys). This in itself was expremely infuriating, later I actually had a keycap also break in the stem where it connects to the switch, I managed to super glue it back together.

After all that I've now bought a Logitech G915 TKL and couldn't be happier. I will never buy Corsair again over Logitech and would never recommend this. Each to their own obviously but just my experience with this product.

    • So not quite 50 million presses

      • Well the switches themselves maybe, but not the keycaps it seems

At least Corsair uses what looks like standard keycaps. Easy to replace.

The G915 keycap has a proprietary keycap stem with 2 legs. I've personally been using a G810 for a few years now and that uses keycap stems with 4 legs. I've had to replace the Ctrl key 5+ times over the years now and the replacements aren't cheap (like $10 for a single keycap) because it's proprietary. I'd replace it with something else but I can't find a nice full sized KB.

I'm guessing the G915 has the same issue if not worst. A quick google certainly backs that up.

      • I'd replace it with something else but I can't find a nice full sized KB

What specs are you looking for?

          • Full sized keyboard
          • Media control keys (prefer volume scroll)
          • Backlight
          • Easy to find replacement keycaps
          • Easy to mod to have a nice thoc Something approaching this would be great
          • Low latency
          • An understated look (so G810 is good and G910 is bad)

Hotswappable and wireless are nice but not necessary. I generally find that the first 2 criteria eliminates most keyboards. This deal actually might be what I'm looking for but I'd need to look at some reviews to see how it sounds.

@quanticism: If you're after a board that'll fit all your criteria, the only option I can think of is the Keychron Q6. It's pricey, but will do everything you want/need it to do. It's full sized, has a knob, RGB backlighting, easy to find replacement keycaps (and thus achieve an understated look to your liking) and switches and it's easy to mod.

            https://keychron.com.au/collections/custom-keyboards/product…

If you don't desperately need a full sized keyboard with a knob/volume scroll wheel, there's plenty more options that'll be much cheaper as well. The Keychron C2 for example.

If you're looking for something that looks similar to the board in your dot point 5, there's plenty of sub $200 options that fit all your criteria, except dot point 1 (no numpad). Epomaker TH80, Feker IK75, Keychron V1, Keychron Q1, etc.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

    • @SSChicken I've had 4 keycaps broken on my K95 plat. I wrote to corsair the first few times and they sent me new keycaps to replace the broken ones each time. I ended up buying steel keycaps for my WASD and haven't had a problem since.
n.b. I press my keys really hard when playing games without really noticing.

  • Jsut got this for 219$ at jbhifi (red switch) and love it sure it could be a little more quiet with tbe spacebar and enter key im thinking of lubing it but its nice

    • Might be a pain to try and lube those stabilizers properly without taking out the switch/es

      • You cant take out the keys on this baord but im looking at lubing the actual metal stablizers as it can easily pop off.

  • My experience with Corsair has been not particularly good. I bought a K100 last year and it worked well initially, but then the RGB lighting in some keys started getting a little wonky and started flickering. Some LEDs under the keys failed so only 2 channels out of 3 would work. Like my 6 key's blue channel failed, so it could only turn green, red or yellow.

I returned it under warranty. My older Logitech G905 worked for way longer before any of its keys started to act up.
