    Is Toughpower any good?

    • +3

Never had any issues with thermeltake PSU's before.. even the ones bundled with $70 atx cases.

I did go with the GF1 650w Bought in march 2021. Still going fine and trouble free. (r5 5600, rx 6800).
Based on my experience Antec Corsair and TT brands have never given me any trouble.

The only good quality PSU from TT, can says this one is the cheapest one now for top quality PSU. Trust me, I deal with lots of different brand PC hardware almost daily, not the so called hand-on experience.

There's no single answer to this question because like most PSUs out there, the company named on the box and on the stickers is not the company that actually made the thing. In Thermaltake's case, they source their units from multiple different third party manufacturers, so it's a matter of looking up reviews for each individual model rather than being able to make a judgement on the brand as a whole.

This Toughpower GF1 is a good unit though. But to illustrate how confusing it can be, the Toughpower GX1 is a poor unit. Want to get more confusing? The GF2 is a mediocre unit. The plain GF is even worse. There's no particular rhyme or reason to it.

As a result, many buyers now resort to at least referring to this combined tier list, which while it doesn't truly capture the specific pros and cons of specific models, is at least a reasonable reference to ensure you don't get an outright lemon.

    • Thermaltake Toughpower isn't the same across every psu with the same name. This one rates very highly on the psu tier list as mentioned by OP

  • I have the non-RGB semi-modular one (same 650W) and I can vouch for this

Its been running my 9900k+3080 combo seamlessly for 2 years now even though everyone online says you need 1000W for 3080s lol

I did undervolt the 3080 a bit tho but even when I ran normally I've never seen a crash

If yours is only semi modular, it has no relation to the GF1 in any way except for the brand name.

its still toughpower same shit same maker

you think they randomly decide to use different parts?

Amazon was giving me a weird error when trying to check out. I changed my address to a friends and it worked fine.

Just an FYI if anyone is having the same issue.

    • I'm getting strange error too across multiple addresses.

I found using the computer worked, using the app/phone I couldn't do anything. I also changed it to a regional address in Ballarat (as opposed to Geelong).

        • i was able to get at least one address working on the computer vs phone, but not the one i need. I rang amazon they said it is a bug with this item and it's been logged. ETA 24 to 48 hours on a fix…

    • Amazon wouldn't let me purchase a second one even on a separate order. Might have to buy from mwave

  • Ordered 1 at 23:30 last night. Received it today at 16:30 from Couriers Please.
    Melb metro area. Amazing.
Probably directly sent from supplier instead of Amazon warehouse.
