Made in Taiwan , shipped to USA, shipped to AU.

  • Good price, hard to beat that!

I am definitely tempted byt not sure about warranty

  • How does the warranty work with items like this? Are you covered at all?

    • Amazon will have to cover you under consumer law.

  • 7 hour battery life might be a limiting for some.

    • I dunno what kind of things people need a 5ghz boost processor for on a laptop

        Microsoft Teams!

I am in the market for a laptop and desktop pc but want a i7 12th generation CPU with ddr5 ram as I don't want to get outdated in terms of performance soon. This one has 4 cores where the 12th gen one has 14 cores. So will wait for something that matches my requirements. But the price on this is very tempting.

    • This laptop has multple cores, but you say you want more?

      • +1

Yes. 4 vs 14. So 12th gen i7 has much better multi core performance. Given that this price is very good.

        • +2

The 14 core 12th gen chips have 6 full cores, 8 'power efficient' cores.
Still better, but 4 vs 14 isnt like for like.

    For those asking about warranty:

    1) Make sure you heavily street test during the first 30 days per the Amazon warranty

"You may return for a full refund for the price you paid within 30 days of delivery any new computer purchased from Amazon that is "dead on arrival", arrives in damaged condition or is still in unopened boxes."

Someone else can chime in about the specifics of Amazon US returns

    2) Acer does not have international coverage on their standard 1 year warranty on consumer laptops

    3) Acer does have an International Travelers Warranty which the Australian Service Centre in Sydney is a part of. However, Acer only allows ITW claims if you are

"Someone who is temporarily outside the territorial scope of the local warranty covering the respective product, without the intention of establishing a permanent residence."

In other words, most OzBargainers who live in Australia and buy a US laptop do not quality for ITW unless you take it to another country ex-US and it breaks down

    4) The Vero chassis is relatively new and based on the review disassembly, looks pretty solid. Checking Acer AU's refurb shop, there are 50+ refurbs with 1x Vero versus a truckload of Aspires, Swifts, Spins and a few Nitros

does not indicate anything other that the vero is new and has less numbers sold than the other models which have been around much longer

      • No, it does indicate something more

        • Vero is newer - yes agreed
        • Less numbers sold than other models - no disagree, do you have the sales data for this statement? If not, this is only a "maybe"

Comments about the Vero build quality further below

Doesn't matter if Acer doesn't cover you. If Amazon sells it to you they have to give support.

I returned an Amazon US laptop 5 months after purchasing for a full refund. No issues.

      • how much did it cost you to ship it back to the US … ? I'm guessing lotsa $$

        • +2

Was free return shipping with Amazon label.

My experience with Acer is poor. Has the build quality improved in the last ten years or so?

    • +2

For this model specifically, disassembly shows a clean and uncluttered layout

The dual fan and heat pipe config are overkill for the iGPU setup and this is confirmed in the review with the sustained all core performance and low temps. This particular Vero config looks like a 14" design placed into a roomier 15.6" chassis

      • The issue I had a few times on older models was the display cable would fail and the screen would go black

  • Besides the screen is too big for me, the price/specs are good enough. Can this be found in a smaller screen?

  • Any chance this laptop is good enough for casual gaming? Halo Infinite for example?

  • RAM config 8GB soldered + 8GB SODIMM) = we could replace SODIMM 8gb with 32gb…???

  • Price drop to $833.71
