      that link is 1tb…
this deal is for 2tb and better value $/tb wise

      • My bad didn't see properly :(

  • Would I be stupid to try putting this in a laptop?

Kingston KC3000 2TB is on sale just about everywhere for $295-$299, it's a lot faster than this and in stock for collection. PCCG, MWAVE, SCORPTEC, BPC, JW, ETC ETC

    • That's good to consider.. And the Crucial P5+ which is even cheaper.
I chose the 980 Pro because I want to use it in a gaming laptop. The 980 Pro is fairly efficient so pretty good choice for laptops.

      • Is the P5+ not also efficient though?
I have a 980Pro already but the KC3000 seems to make more sense at the moment.

        • Looking at the Tomshardware reviews it seems that the P5+ is pretty bad for efficiency. KC3000 is similar to 980 Pro.

The KC3000 is faster but less efficient if considering that for use in a laptop. From Tom's hardware for the 2TB versions:

"Kingston’s KC3000 displayed average efficiency under load when considering its copy performance, but overall, it was the most power-hungry M.2 SSD we tested. At idle, it also consumed over 1.1 watts, more power than either the Seagate FireCuda 530 or Corsair MP600 Pro XT."

"Samsung’s new 8nm NVMe controller and 128L V-NAND TLC flash make for a very efficient pair. The 980 Pro consumes less power than everything but the Adata XPG Gammix S50 Lite. It also has the fastest performance during the 50GB copy test, helping it take first place on our efficiency chart. It also sips less power than its competition when idle, helping keep the drive cool. You shouldn’t need added cooling under most workloads, even at the 2TB capacity, but extra cooling is recommended for power users."

    • A lot faster? I thought they were pretty much neck and neck. Does Kingston have an equivalent to the Samsung magician software?

  • Be good if some of them come with heatsink.
