  • $249 (before discount) for one chair mat? Just get this thing: https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/kolon-floor-protector-90176245/ for $39 and all is good. It looks for me more than a B2B supplier than a store for private consumers. Companies may don't care if they spent 249 bucks for a chair mat, but that's expensive.

      The mat I suggest is 120cm x 183cm. The IKEA is 120cm x 100cm.
I need the extra size. If you do a Google search for mats of a comparable size with comparable warranty, I don't think you'll find cheaper but you will find more expensive ones.

      For example:
      https://www.empind.com.au/shop/item/all-floors---chair-mats-…
      $359 in the same size…

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/184679189991?chn=ps&norover=1&mk…
      $320 and only 1500mm

The IKEA is good bang for buck, but I can assure you I have tried a lot of different chair mats (not the IKEA one though but multiple from Officeworks, Amazon, Costco and EBAY) and most break/crack under the strain of my barge ass and chair rollers within a year. That is using them on medium pile carpet with underlay.

The matshop mat is specifically designed for use on carpet with underlay and is guaranteed not to crack for 12 years. I can't see the warranty period on the IKEA.

Myself and other barge ass friends all have the matshop one and are SUPER happy with it.

Last time a matshop deal was posted I recall another Ozbargainer also said they like the same mat I do.

I suspect matshop are primarily a B2B company as you say, but they also serve consumers directly and have a long history of deals on Ozbargain

Another thing I like about matshop compared to other sellers, these mats are delivered flat and immediately ready for use. A lot of other mats come rolled up, and have to be flattened before use and the corners often dont completely flatten for a significant amount of time.

    • The IKEA "kolon" mat doesn't last long, mine was quite cracked by the 2-year mark.

I bought a carpet rug instead. Cloth rugs are too lightweight and don't stay flat on the floor, they tend to roll up at the edges.

  • Get Roller Wheels for your chair and the mats will crack way less as well.

  • 25% off itself is a very good deal since these rarely go on sale. However, after owning this mat and expecting close to perfection (given the noted high RRP) it needs ot be said that though these function significantly better than others (i.e. IKEA, Officeworks); when used on thick carpets with underlay there are still areas on the mat that divot noticeably under the wheels of my IKEA HATTEFJÄLL with my bodyweight of ~70kg which impede rolling slightly.

    • Interesting.

I am rocking the Stilford from this deal:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/734198

120kg and the mat is not indenting noticeably at all.

      • I don't think I explained well enough that the indents aren't permanent, however, during use it does impede rolling/repositioning the chair itself as the wheels don't roll perfectly on the surface. But again, significantly better than cheaper options (and very clearly thicker and higher quality).

  • thought this was matshotshop n was like ooh I'm get myself some more hot sauce. Mat get in here and match this

I've used their mats for ages… the latest model with 12 year warranty has really held up during COVID and beyond. Just ordered 2 for the wife and kids' desks to replace their ancient ones.

This place doesn't stand by there warranty i brought 2 matts plastic ones they arrived sticky as i contacted got a massive run a round for weeks i gave up i ended up wipeing them down with metho and that made them useable .c:::p service .

    • Disappointing to hear that, particularly given the 12 year warranty is a big selling point of the mat I love.

Yeah a 12 year warranty doesn't mean much if they're not willing to stand behind it. I was thinking of buying one of these but now I'm not so sure. Has anyone else dealt with their warranty service?
