Yes it suffers from cogging (stutter/stalling when accelerating from 0 to WOT)

So upgrade the motor to the 4300kv with 19t pinion for $41.64 = $169.57 total for extremely fast brushless RC car
or
grab a motor mount for $6.67 and 19t pinion for $13.38 = $20.05 = $147.98 this option will decrease top speed to ~55km/h but this is much more practical for bashing around.

Got one recently very good product for the price, a lot of fun to bash around

    • Did you upgrade or leave as is.

      • Only just got it so it's stock. If I upgrade it will only be metal suspension parts not the motor or pinion. plenty fast as is. You can run them with a bigger battery and they go 80km there is a you tube of it here:

OP - can you link to the "motor mount $6.67 and 19t pinion $13.38 = $20.05" please?

NVM - it's in the cogging link you provided

  • Whats top speed with the extra motor?

  • -2

I see battery life in RC hasn't changed in 30 years, 4 hour charge time for 12 minutes of run time. In all seriousness quite tempted by this, does anyone know if there are restrictions on anything this fast in Vic?

    • +1

RC cars for this price 30 years ago would have been fairly slow

This has a relatively small battery for the power and speed but scaled to size

Larger capacity batteries are available but might not fit this car

Charging time can be faster depending on the charger and battery

All considered, battery life and RC has changed

You know you can take more than one battery yeah?

If you turned the speed down to an equivalent car from 30 years ago it would probably last over an hour.

The cogging is a real issue with the 3400kv motor. It doesn't like rough / thick grass. Only when starting off though, once this gets going - ooof.
Took it to a velodrome and man this thing is fast, and robust. You can dial down the speed on the controller really easily for any skill level. Max power is a lot, like having an angry dog ready to go.
I got 2 x 2800mAh batteries with mine and you definitely need the second battery to have a decent shot of it.
Paid $174 in July this year

    • Thanks for the info. How far can it be dialed down? I'm a bit worried as just bought one for my son for Christmas. I've ordered the motor Mount & 19t pinion which won't arrive in time but 55km/h is still a bit quick for a 6yo.

Did you end up just staying with the 3400kv motor and putting up with the cogging?

We will mainly use it in the park on grass and skate park

Safe enough to use inside at the lowest setting. My kid's 6 and has no issues. No cogging on smooth ground, it's really not a dealbreaker. If you wiggle the steering left and right it normally overcomes the thick grass issue. It's a lot of fun.
I have it stock, no mods.

  • This or the wltoys 124017 / 124007? Thanks!

    • Those are $100 / $120 more expensive.

Spend $42 on a new 4300kv and your at least $60 in front with the EAT14 although its now limited to purple shell.

I think its currently the best bang for buck for a budget brushless RC

  • Was thinking of getting a RC for my 11y. This looks nice but don't want to buy additional upgrades yet.. would like to see if he uses it. Also, would this actually be in time for xmas? It states 20th to 2nd jan

I bought 1 yesterday and was shipped with tracking number yesterday afternoon. Would say it "should" arrive in time but leave a comment when you checkout if it doesn't you could always return

  • Its coming up with shipment charge on checkout.

Some reason the only shipping method to my address was express so sent it to inlaws house free standard shipping.

      • Awesome tx. So brushless it is haha.. if i order all the items in 1 order will they ship individually or do i need to order the car from AU and the rest from CN to get the car asap?

        • +1

Worth noting the brushed wltoys isnt slow. Also doesn't have cogging issues. Not suggesting brushed is better than brushless in general, just it isnt always the case that the other is true either.

They do other brushless versions as well. Not that i have looked around but the first thing that came up was $165 after some code on ebay https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364051739923

EDIT: that deal you linked to isnt good value at all though.

          • @Duff5000: What code did you use i dont see any?

            • @Jklaro: Sorry, looks like it is just an ebay plus code.

        • The car will ship the AU and the parts CN :-( the car is good enough except if its in thick grass you will just need to give it a bit of a push start but other than that just ease the throttle not Wide Open Throttle from 0 otherwise it stutter/jolt = cogging otherwise it seems fine. then just wait for the mods

  • Appreciate the info everyone. Just ordered one for the kid :).. Kinda hope he doesn't like it coz I want it now haha

  • Any reason not to just get the brushless wltoys equivalent and not have to worry about doing the work on it? (already has a 4300kv brushless for ~$170)

    https://www.quadifyrc.com/rccarreviews/wl-toys-144010-brushl…

    • That will definitely not be in time for xmas :)

      • Fair point i guess. I doubt banggood will get it delivered before Christmas either now but they do claim there is a chance :)

        • +1

Yea I also don't think it will happen haha.. Backup is to wrap a empty box and print a picture of the car and tell him to wait haha

    • Now you got me thinking to just cancel the order. Im thinking of driving this is grass thats bout same height as the car. I think ill need the upgrade motor.

  • Can you easily get replacement shells?

  • Does eachine have a model with 4300kv motor in it already.

    Wltoys 144010 eachine equivalent?

  • FYI, mine just got shipped out.

  • anyone received theirs yet?
Mine is saying In transit -Delayed – waiting to be processed for delivery 29/12/2022

  • Me either. Ordered on 16 Dec!! Ruined the sons Christmas. Ordered the motor & batteries from BG (CN) at the same time and they arrived in time but pretty useless without the RC.

I have had Australia Post investigating they have sent numerous emails and actually called me today. They believe that BG have shipped a heap of things at once and put these on the transcript, however, never actually shipped them in the shipment. Banggood are saying please wait until 20 Jan before they can launch an investigation. Very disappointing Banggood!
