This is handy, I like mine

I got mine on clearance for $10 and I'd say it's barely worth that much.
No speed control, torque is piss poor, bits are very low quality.
      It's a toy really.

I have a feeling you either didn’t use this as intended or your expectations were disconnected… (@$10-20)

This is an assembly aid tool, not a drill. This is mostly to put together an IKEA furniture or maybe drive in a self tapping screw into wood. Speed and torque control usually is found on $100+ drills, even then it’s usually skin only.

At $50 as a screw driver, yeah maybe torque control might be nice but again there isn’t that much out there even at that price.

$10 is probably at cost or they sold it to you at a loss. (Imagine transport+storage+transaction service fees etc on top of the manufacturing cost — which would be a decent amount considering it has a brushless motor + battery)

I don’t think it’s fair for you to complain about this at $10 mate.

        • 1) This is a $59 tool (allegedly) we're talking about, so it fits into your +$50 pricepoint for features like I'm expecting.

          2) Speed control is a basic feature on a brushless tool. The majority of the additional complexity is in some extra programming in the motor controller IC.
Lack of speed control makes using this for flatheads nigh on impossible, yet a number of flathead bits are included.
As mentioned in the OP, it also makes this useless for finer work like dis / re-assembling consumer electronics.

This is the killer feature that would make this tool actually useful versus the reality of "not really worth the hassle, I'll just use hand tools".
All for want of a ~$1 capacitive plunger for the trigger and maybe a few extra cents on the controller IC.

          3) Torque, yeah maybe I'm asking too much at this price, but I do find I regularly need to either twist the electric screwdriver manually or pull out a hand tool to get the screwhead flush even in countersunk and pilot holed pine.

          4) I've only ever used this to remove or replace screws from/to an already assembled state or in soft timber with pilot holes pre-drilled. Most definitely its expected use cases. I have 18V, 240V or hand tools for tougher workloads.

@ESEMCE: Yeah okay, I mean fair opinion. I haven't used this specific tool and I am basing my experience on IKEA's FIXA Assembly tool so maybe they are different. I will form an opinion once I get this one I guess…

Agreed, had mine 10 years I reckon and still going strong

    • Me too. You have to remember that it’s a $10 electric screwdriver and use it accordingly - but it’s a handy bit if kit.

  • Just a silly question, what’s the difference between drill driver and screwdriver? Bought this on previous deal, do I still need to buy this screwdriver?

    • +3

Drill driver usually has more power, which allows you to drill holes.

I have this, love it. I replaced some of the heads with hex bits and built A LOT of ikea furniture with it.
I just bought another, at this price I can’t not.

This is too powerful for working on PC or Laptop but like I said prefect for furniture etc… strong enough to screw it tightly without being so strong as to damage the wood / strip the holes.

  • I have had one of these for 5 years and it has always been reliable. Perfect for around the house jobs. Needs a pilot hole on new builds, but I actually use a ryobi impact driver on new builds without pilot holes.

  • Grabbed one. Thanks Op

  • Ordered one. Thanks OP! At this price I'd be happy even if its good enough for the odd IKEA assembly or light projects.

  • IKEA’s best friend xD

    • exactly.. bosch or dewalt will drill through most IKEA furnitures without a drill

  • OOS :(

  • Our of stock

  • Dang, reactivated eBay plus for this and just missed out.

  • Was hoping the code worked on other Worx products

  • +1

Back in stock, but code has expired.

  • Watched the video and was blown away!

Two really cool features (assuming it works as advertised):
    1. Pull back on the slide to quickly swap between 6 different bits (like cocking a handgun)
    2. Screw holder attachment at the front holds the screw so you can screw 1 handed.

it's back in stock and code still working

  • +1

    Code works again bought one

    • Thanks. Got one after missing out earlier

  • Thanks OP. Missed out earlier but checked out with the code just now.
Been using the original model back from the Masters days and still love it for flatpack stuff (only suckers change bits manually :P)

Anyone from the original earlier today get a shipping confirmation? It almost looks feels like an error with the code or will be over-sold so that will be cancelled … haven't bought from Worx to know if that's a common thing or not.

  • Back in stock and code worked. Got one myself too.

I have the IKEA version of this, it’s the best for putting furniture together. Will never even attempt working without these.

This is not a fancy drill. Most it will do is drive a self tapping screw into the wood or just drive a long screw straight much easier and quicker. So don’t expect to get a high quality drill, it is not a drill…

To be clear I only used IKEA’s own one and I don’t yet have one of these. But fairly sure these are the same thing.
