Rather get a Razer Blade 14 and call it a day.

  • Where's the rest of the PC

      Sempron 2200+ 1.1ghz
      2x256mb DDR
      2x 40gb 5400rpm (Raid 0)
      Huntkey 350w

  • lol why is this gpu literally the only indivudual component they are selling on their entire site?

    • +2

You try holding 10s of 1000s of dollars in stock. I imagine 4080s at wholesale are not cheap. Also, they are predominantly focused on getting cheap PC builds out the door for folks.

  • +3

hit me with a 4080 for 1799 and I'll buy

  • Im gonna get a 4080 in jan. What can i reasonably get for my 2 year old zotac 3080 trinity? It's non oc and i don't think they make it anymore. Still has 1 year warranty left.

Ive seen lots on marketplace other brands so thought i'd ask for a realistic figure

    • Honestly? I would aim for $900.

      • Thanks bro. I was expecting 800ish but will aim for 9 now. Cheers

  • +2

Works out to be over $2900 once delivery and handling fees are added. No thanks.

  • +2

What a time to be alive. These GPU prices are eye-watering. Think i'll stick with my old 1080 Ti for now.

  • +7

I got $2,831.45 with express shipping to QLD Brisbane.
Looks to be the cheapest 4090 atm.
    Gainward is owned by Palit

Only reviews of teardowns I can find are on the Palit

Did not find any teardown videos for the Gainward card, but if its the same as the Palit card, then this might help someone looking for more info.

    • I thought it would be bad.

3yrs ago you could buy a 10yr old Mazda 3 for this much.

  • "Deal"

    • "Bang for your buck"

      • The Bang for your buck, are the voltage regulators exploding yikes!

  • +1

    Can it run Crysis?

    • +2

Nope. Needs other parts to do so.

    • Maybe if we had 4090 SLI

      • nonono

        gotta be 4090 Ti SLI

  • +3

Don't get me wrong, the cost of the entire 40xx series is borked AF, but holy moly does this kind of pricing do absolutely nothing for the value proposition of the 4080. You'd have to have literal rocks in your head to be buying that thing at this point.

    • And bills in your wallet to afford it

    • +2

Thats what Im thinking too, the cheapest 4080 is 2k. For $799 you get 6,656 more cuda cores, which is alot for apps like Blender and video editing.

  • +6

    ima be hodling for ever

  • For those wondering:

I upgraded my x5 3090 rig to x5 of these and 4090s are way more efficient. I was doing 400kH/w but with these 4090s I managed to do 575kH/w.

Here's to x5 5090s in 2-3 years time which will most likely allow me to break the 600kH/w barrier with these flagship GPUs.

    • +6

Can't tell if bait or real. If real, why are you bothering with mining? Are you holding the earnings and hoping for another massive bull run soon? Why not just buy the coins in that case?

      • +2

Exactly, would be way cheaper to just buy some crypto if he wants it so much.

      • why are you bothering with mining

If you're someone who's been into this industry since 2012, you'd know why mining is more profitable than buying coins regardless if the market is "down".

        • +1

I bought my first btc in 2010, decided not to bother with it after mt gox, and have kept abreast of the news (and tech) around crypto in general. What am I missing exactly?
(I never mined, although had plenty of friends that did, i'm not experienced with it).

        • +3

Yea.. so what kind of cost analysis are you doing to say that the mining is more profitable at the moment? Enlighten us that hasn't been looking at the 'industry' since 2012 please.

        • Pls explain (mainly the maths, if you’ve done it)

  • -4

Only suitable for neckbeards with no mortgage.

  • If crypto currency was starting and it was 2013, and your friend says:

"You gotta get this card it's a bargain"
But you do 9 years later to play games.

  • Some reviews say it's not the quietest 4090 card

  • +2

How is this even a thing? Graphics cards alone worth more than a decent higher end PC? Just inflation? Seems hard to justify

  • -1

the review doesn't look so good about this card

    • Can you please elaborate? Not being lazy, just not a technically minded as I would like.

      • I dont know what hes talking about. 4090 is still the king and Nvidia didnt put out this kind of BS pricing for no reason - they cant be contended with up till now and have the damn monopoly in the high tier market (especially if you do anything other than gaming which AMD cards suck at) and this is it if you wanted the best card, and it does live up to its name performance wise.

Factoring the cost though, this wont be it for most folks but I dont see any reviews saying the performance is lackluster, its as expected for a new generation's top end card.

  • -2

The world have gone nuts, $500 card cost $2000.

    • +8

      $500

      Explain.

      $2000

      Also explain? Lol what.

  • +1

Apparently this card's coil whine is lower than other AIBs, which is great if you're sensitive to that sort of thing.

  • +14

@luketechfast can you confirm this comes with 3 year warranty and is supported in Australia for warranty?

Gainward as far as i can tell will not deal directly with the purchaser and requires them go to their place of purchase from a local authorized distributor.

    As per this
    https://www.gainward.com/main/support.php?lang=en

If you select the authorised reseller list, there is no Australia… are these grey? Or are you guys a local authorized distributor?

Would like to buy a card but just want to make sure i'm covered warranty wise for any issues and in that event it's not going to be a 3 month ordeal with international postages etc. It's a lot of money!

    • Yeah this is my worry and why I haven't bit yet. Warranty on grey imports can be a bit of a nightmare if you're unlucky, and this very much seems to be one considering the price and the information from Gainward. As you said, a lot of money and I would probably rather pay a couple of hundred more for the reassurance of local warranty support.

  • +7

$142 hidden handling fee… bit scummy

    • Wow… yeah thats slippery

    • +2

Am i missing something? Proceeded with it all the way to payment and all I had was the 2799 + delivery.

    • The postage was only $24.50, wheres the $142 handling fee?

      • -1

Looking at it right now in cart…

        Order Processing and Handling: $141.30

Doesn't show until FINAL FINAL Checkout!

Oh wait, it seems it was related to selecting ZIP pay. Interesting.

        • Maybe ZIP charges a premium to techfast for using their services. The same way Harvey Norman loses a percentage of the total sale, doing 12 - 48 month interest free finance. Purchased one yesterday, there was no handling fee with my credit card.

  • what kind of monitor do you need to maximise this video card? 4k / 150+ Hz?

    • Yep

      • so even if I can afford this card, I still need rob my bank for another $2000 to buy a monitor lol, guess I'll pass.

  • -3

Will be $1400 second hand in 12 months

    • +1

how so? nvidia release cycle is 2 years

unless they come up with 4090 super lol

  • Wow, the graphics card is so expensive now. 5-6 years ago top end GPU only cost around $1k. My m2 MacBook Air just few hundreds more than my 5-6 years old intel MacBook Air. What happened to GPU market? Monopoly?

    • -2

it's the game developer's fault, the graphics have become so taxing on the system. However, one can play 2D games without a graphic card :)

    • +3

      High end options.

What does your MacBook Air have to do with high end gaming / GPU workloads?

      • +1

what he is trying to say is that, MacBook Air didn't increase much of the prices over time, but GPU does.

        • +1

Fair enough. The new MacBooks are uncharacteristically good value for Apple which does accentuate the difference. It is a vastly larger market however, and Apple can afford to sacrifice short term revenue to rapidly gain market share, utilisation and consumer confidence in their new architecture.

TL;DR different markets, different enconomies of scale, different strategy, apples vs oranges.

But… again, options. What is the Mac equivalent of a Titan-class halo GPU?

  • -6

Wow a lot of people blowing parent's money on graphics cards here!

    • +4

      How do you figure this?
People can't spend their own money on a luxury item that fits within their hobby?
      Cringe take…

      • -3

Take up pottery, paint some warhammer, don't blow thousands on a video gaming setup, niche market for a 4090.

        • +1

You live your best life dude, and let others be free to choose and spend in order to live theirs.

          • @TyronesCheesyEggs: That's fair, though there is concern over a generation that unknowingly institutionalises themselves in their bedroom stuck to a PC screen, it's depressing.

            • @Bearlion: Yeah I agree.
I feel like the emergence of the streaming industry in particular is bringing gaming further into the mainstream (which is probably a net benefit - for too long gaming has been thought of as a net negative hobby IMO), but may be also normalising unhealthy amounts of it.
I guess the key like everything is to find the right balance.

  • Where's the 4090 pre builts techfast

  • Everyone here scoffing now, but if they maintain this price for long enough, eventually people will buy. Gaming is just one of those things where we cannot resist the urge as seen with covid era prices. Sure, some people will hold onto old cards, but eventually those will either fail or be truly obsolete.

    • I’m an excellent holder. No ps5, having gc ready, holding for ps5 pro.
Have 2080 super, was aiming for a 4080, now holding. Either the price comes down or I’d want 5080

    • Plenty of people are buying already. It boils down to sales metrics and supply demand curves. If they're hitting their numbers selling less cards at higher margins why not keep at it.

    • Just buy another 2nd hand card for a quarter of the price easy until they can't afford to keep the same ridiculous prices

1080ti still going strong here no issues with the games i play and most of the newer games are rubbish anyway

  • Makes me happy that people are finally waking up to this absolute rort by nvidia i wouldn't pay anything over $1000 max for these cards hopefully there profits continue to drop and the gpu market / pc gaming ends up dead if they continue this trend

  • I purchased this order 21/12 2pm wst. Still says processing. Never again I will buy from tech fast, just a waste of time. Thought it was a component it would be dispatched on time but no. Thought I’d give tech fast another go after waiting 3 months for my pc order 3 years ago. No email to say if my order has been delayed…. Feels like a pyramid scheme… wait for paid orders then go buy… why can’t people do what they advertise. If it’s in stock and ready to ship next business day then do so. I’m the idiot for giving people a 2nd chance… losing faith in humanity every day…

    • Have you contacted them?

    • lol, was on the fence about pulling the trigger, glad i didnt.

      • Eh, mine arrived last week and is working fine.

…apart from being so thick it basically presses up against my case in vertical mount, resulting in thermal throttling of performance by 5% or so.

Edit: I misread, apologies. Yeah if they promised to ship next business day and you ordered 21st (post wasn't marked expired until 24th) then agree, that is suboptimal.

Still - email them and update with outcome?

        • Yeah I did send them an email
          Today. Not my first time
Dealing with them. Had to wait 3 months for a pc order 2 years ago. Thought I’d give them a 2nd chance. Never again. I even paid for express … doesn’t make a difference if it’s not even dispatched from their warehouse

          • @AzK: So my order was not processed since i did not see the verification email which was sent same day. I overlooked it since the email came from Caleb with the subject line verification order. Looked like spam to me, i was expecting an email from techfast. The verification charge was small but i was meant to tell them the amount to confirm its a legit credit card then they charge the full amount. In my case the full amount was charged the same day as well…it did not say pending!! just full deduction….and still my order wasnt procsessed. Why charge me the full amount and not process the order? anyways atleast techfast was quick to refund my order but forgot to refund the verification charge. I wonder how many people check if the sellers refund the amounts owed from other sellers. Its not much but if you had heaps of orders the small verification charge would add up in the long run….Salami Silicing much?

            • @AzK: Relax. Verification fees are refunded.

I don't think this deal is for you. Save yourself some anxiety and buy local and in stock, if you're sure you can afford it.

              Best of luck!

  • Hey Caleb and Luke, do you plan to do another 4090 batch some time soon?

    • They should have one in stock since i got my order refunded

      • If I may please ask why?

        • my order wasnt processed even though the full amount was deducted from the credit card i used.

  • Damn I want this, it's one of only 3 4090's that fits in an A4-H2O .. until the INNO3D GEFORCE RTX 4090 ICHILL BLACK can be found somewhere
