Hey Oz Bargain Community,

This year's gone by in what seems like the blink of an eye. It's been another roller coaster year, but overall far more positives than negatives because you've been consistently terrific. Thank you so much for your continued orders, engagement and support, it really does mean the world to us!

Before we welcome in 2023 we thought we should do one final deal, so here we go :)

We're offering you a 40% discount off our entire currently available fresh coffee range, see details below:

1) Moments To Memories Blend, only $14.55 per 500g (usually $24.25 per 500g), and $25.50 per 1kg (usually $42.50 per 1kg)

2) Colombia Huila Single Origin, only $15.59 per 500g (usually $25.99 per 500g), and $27.59 per 1kg (usually $45.98 per 1kg)

3) Brazil São Paulo Single Origin, only $14.99 per 500g (usually $24.99 per 500g), and $26.39 per 1kg (usually $43.98 per 1kg)

4) Swiss Water Process Decaf, only $16.19 per 500g (usually $26.99 per 500g), and $28.79 per 1kg (usually $47.98 per 1kg)

Deal valid for orders placed until 27/12/2022, unless sold out before. You can pick from the available green circle dispatch dates on the cart page. Dispatch can happen for you as near as Wednesday (Monday/Tuesday are public holidays, so no delivery pick ups) and as far as the last Tuesday in February. Once a given dispatch date is at full capacity the green circle will be removed and date will turn red, first in best dressed :)

Some helpful info:

  • You're welcome to place multiple orders scheduled for dispatch at various dates (delayed dispatch) to make the most of this deal, we strive to dispatch our fresh coffee within 48 business hours of roasting
  • One dispatch per order, welcome to mix and match different varieties and quantities
  • If you select 500g as a quantity please ensure you also select 500g as the packaging option. If 500g is selected as a quantity with 1kg as the packaging selection the product will show as "unavailable"
  • 500g bag packing (it's resealable) is also available for orders larger than 500g this is an extra $3.60 per kg including the discount (normally $6 extra per kg) to cover the extra bag/s, label/s and time it takes to pack
  • Complimentary gift notes can be written in the "special instructions for seller" box on the cart page.
  • The largest bag size we use is 1kg and it has a zip (it's resealable), for example if you order 4kg with 1kg packaging you will receive 4 x 1kg bags, you will not receive a single huge 4kg bag.
  • VIC|NSW|QLD|TAS|NT Flat Rate Shipping $6.99 No Delivery Company Preference, $7.99 Shipit-Courier's Please, $8.99 Australia Post, $12.99 Express Post, Live Quote Shipping at the checkout for Same Day Delivery as Dispatch in VIC in the highlighted map areas https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/361387/95314/same_day_…
  • SA|WA Flat Rate Shipping $9.99 Express Post. Regular parcels travel to SA & WA via train. The recent floods have damaged the rail line to SA & WA and a freight train has derailed, as such we've been informed by Australia Post that standard delivery to SA & WA is currently not an option for the foreseeable future. Express Post travels by plane, so it's still a viable option. We understand some of our SA & WA customers would prefer our "$6.99 No Delivery Company Preference" standard shipping option. Our Express Post option is usually $12.99. As Express shipping has been forced on us and you as the only viable option to SA & WA for the moment, to make the best of this situation we've decided to split the price difference and offer our SA & WA customers flat-rate Express shipping for only $9.99

  • Are there any options for pick up - Melbourne?

    • +6

      Morning @FarKen

      Great question!

At present there's no click and collect option currently available. It is on our to do list to figure this out. We've seen other businesses with a click and collect option have parcels wait for weeks to be collected. We understand life happens and people's plans change in terms of collection dates. As fresh coffee is a perishable good and we strive to dispatch within 48 business hours of roasting, we'd need to figure out a click and collect system that doesn't risk coffee sitting for several days or weeks waiting for collection…we've got our thinking caps on to see if we can make it work down the track :)

      • +2

My impression is that he is asking whether there is an option to pick up from the roasting site / shop front, rather than a collection point. If this was available, stale coffee would be less of an issue, but I guess you may not have the infrastructure for that.

        • +1

Hey @Leon81 appreciate the double check clarification, doesn't hurt to double check I'm addressing the request correctly!

However, I believe I'm on the same page with my initial interpretation. My comments don't refer to click and collect, with the collect part being a post office, news agency or … they refer to collection being from our HQ.

Here's an example of the obstacle which needs resolving, someone orders 1kg of preground coffee for collection on a Monday, that morning their car breaks down and so they can't pick up until their car is fixed. Their needs a special part and so the repair takes a fortnight. The customer understandably doesn't want to pay a shipping fee as they're still keen to collect in-person once their car is repaired. With our roast-to-order striving for dispatch within 48 business hours of roasting system, their order which was freshly ground and packaged on the Monday would need to throw in the bin and we'd would lose money on their order. In a scenario like this we lose money, coffee/packaging/time is wasted and the customer is stuck at home with no fresh coffee (coffee emergency), no one wins. There's a few solutions to this we've thought of, but they're all a bit clunky, so we're still brainstorming a smooth solution where everyone wins :)

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: Thanks for the response @LimeBlueCoffee

Indeed - I was thinking of picking up directly from roasting HQ as an option to bypass delivery/auspost sometimes lengthy delay. Especially this time of year.
Who knows if my freshly roasted coffee has been sitting in a roasting hot delivery van for days (is that then classed as double roasted beans).
If HQ was just around the corner and I could pick-up directly this would sort this out.

I see your point though about customers failing to collect in a timely matter.

Looking forward to the thinking hat solution you come up with. Happy to trial if you need.

@LimeBlueCoffee: What did I just read

    • I think they’re in QLD

        We're in VIC :)

        • +1

Well there you go! i've been telling everyone I've been buying these great beans from Queensland :D

          • @Deal-Sniper: haha all good, main thing is that you've been telling people you have "these great beans," silver lining is now you've got something new to tell them to spruik us again :)

  • Thank you, got me a kilo of Columbia!

    • +1

Fantastic to hear, nice selection (truth be told I think they're all terrific options), thank you so much!!!

      • Oops, thanks

      • Isn’t the asterisk at the start?

  • it says $31.19 for 1KG of Columbia to me

    • +1

Hey @dirtyhen appreciate you reaching out to check!

I believe you've got 2x500g selected, as opposed to 1x1kg which is $27.59. On the product page under the "packaging" menu option you can select between 500g and 1kg bags, when you change your selection to 1kg bag/s you should see an instant price change :)

      • cheers mate

Tried the Brazil São Paulo Single Origin and it's great, highly recommend it.

@LimeBlueCoffee have you considered making a periodic subscription at this price in addition to the delayed dispatch, for example, to receive 1kg every two weeks until the subscription is changed?

    • +1

Hey @DmytroP wonderful to hear how much you've been enjoying our fresh coffee, thank you so much for the compliment and vote of confidence!

Nice suggestion, we currently do offer something similar to a subscription, it's called our Frequent Buyers Club. It's technically not a subscription as it doesn't aromatically renew, it's for 4, monthly prepaid deliveries. We currently halfway through the current FBC cycle, if it continues Membership will open up again in Feb/March :)

    • +1 to that! It makes an awesome long black, but is just as happy in a double-shot milk-based drink.

      • Woohoo, thanks for that terrific +1 vote of confidence @Chazzozz :) :) :)

  • +1

At the risk of sounding like a pedant, when you say dispatch is within 48 business hours, is that 2 x 24
weekdays or 6 x 8 (9am - 5pm) business hours days? I'm guessing the former but wanted to check.

    • +2

Hey @kiitos no harm in asking, better safe than sorry :)

We start before 9am and finish after 5pm, so by "we strive to dispatch within 48 business hours" I mean within two calendar weekdays, not 6x8 hour days :)

    • +1

Thanks for asking this, I had the same question!

  • Bought 3x 500g different beans,
    First time try.

    Hope taste good!!

Hmm happy to help, I'll need a bit more info to point you in the right direction. Few quick questions:
      1) What equipment do you use to make your coffee?
      2) How do you have it, espresso, long black, filter, milk based, dash of milk?
      3) Fruit 1 to Chocolate 10 Flavour Scale, in terms of flavour what would your ideal number be?
      4) Low 1 to High 10 Acidity Scale, in terms of acidity what would your ideal number be?

      • Thanks for reply.
        Answers to question:

haha love that you were so keen to place your order that you couldn't wait any longer!

Terrific order combo, thank you so much for your order, it's truly appreciated :)

        • Hi JinWu, keen to try this and I have the same machine. Can you kindly let me know what settings you use (internal burr, outer grind, and dosage?) just so I can get the best out of this.

          • +1

@Intervene: I am the first buyer lol, not even try them yet.

  • The colombia one of the best,love it,thanks 🙌

    • Woohoo for that compliment, it sure is a special one, appreciate you taking the time to share your wonderful feedback :)

  • Thanks for a great year of coffee LB!

Just wanted to check if that first Mexican SO mystery flight coffee will be available for normal ordering in the future?

Had some great stone fruit and real punch. Cheers

    • +1

Hey @Junglegreen music to my ears to hear you've had a great year of coffee experiences with us, woohoo to that!!!

Apprecaite the feedback. Our FBC Surprise Mystery Stops are exclusive at the time of dispatch, so there's no current plan to offer that Mexican SO for one-time purchase, but there also no plans to specifically not offer it in the future. We may look at offering our popular SMF stops for one-time purchases in the future, have to see what happens. The Mexican Single Origin was delicious and was also a great coffee to work with in terms of how it roasted, so I would enjoy working with it again. I believe we purchased the entire remaining supply from the importer of that one, so if we do offer it again in the future it'll still be a little while away :)

      • Great - thanks for your reply. I will keep an eye out.

I haven't had great experiences with beans from Mexico in the past but this one hit different :)

        • Sure thing, sounds like a plan :)

I've seen some high quality Mexican around (like the 1st Surprise Mystery Flight stop), but not a whole lot compared to other growing regions. I like that "this one hit different" expression, has a nice ring to it.

  • Thanks OP! My third order for 500g of São Paulo Single Origin. Love it :)

As I am based in QLD my gripe is about shipping. I read your comment above on how you strive to dispatch within 48 business hours of roasting.
But the next issue is delivery, for my first order I used Shippit and Aus Post for the second, both took a week to get delivered. This time I have selected express shipping which is $13 (almost as much as 500g of coffee in the deal above).
If possible, please look at negotiating better express shipping rates.

    • +5

Perfect, thank you so much for placing your third order with us, your repeat orders really do mean so much and it's wonderful to know you "love" our fresh coffee!

I hear you loud and clear, it's a constant work in progress to get shipping rates down without losing quality of delivery service. Yes, I know some of you reading this may laugh about the "without losing quality of delivery service" bit after some recent delivery delays, but trust me delivery speed can always get worse if a raise to the bottom pricing strategy is in place. To clarify, Shippit doesn't deliver any parcels, they're simply a software company which connects order information to delivery company networks to book deliveries; we mentioned Shippit next to the Courier's Please option to highlight that we are not using Sendle, from our experience their raise to the bottom pricing strategy significantly slows delivery and reduced last mile delivery quality, especially during busy times of the year. Completely understand from your perspective about shipping costs relative to product cost. If it's any consolation to your $12.99 Express shipping, we subsidise our rates, so on average it costs us more for shipping that the flat rates we charge you.

Australia Post contracts work on volume of parcels sent, we're constantly working with our delivery partners to try and improve quality, while reduce costs. I was on the phone with our Aust Post Account Manager for a hour last week and just got a us on a special merchant parcel tracking system which takes two weeks for Aust Post to grant access (signed application had to be submitted…). Good news is based on dispatch volume we're 75% of the way towards a new contract negation, the quicker we get to to the next dispatch contract volume, the quicker we're able to lower our flat rate shipping rates. Every order is an order closer to lower shipping costs :)

      • +1

Thanks so much for such a detailed response, it’s great to buy from a business that pays such attention to feedback. I am sure you will achieve the dispatch volume soon! :)

        • What a wonderfully positive response to receive, thank you for your upbeat support!

Very happy to know we're in your good books, we'll keep working hard to stay there :)

  • Airjo, lime blue, or Inglewood?

    • +6

Lime Blue. Come for fresh, delicious coffee delivered quickly at a great price, stay for Tom’s hyper-caffeinated writing :)

    • +11

Depends on what you are after.

Airjo: leans heavy toward darker roasted/more traditional style coffees/roasting.

Inglewood: (IMHO) pretty average and safe blends. Have not enjoyed any single origins of theirs either. And have had terrible customer service from them.

Lime Blue: The best of this bunch, actually offer a wide variety of coffee & roasts, excellent customer service.

*Also highly recommend Direct Coffee - who regularly posts on here, excellent as well.

      • +3

Good summary. I’m definitely a fan of medium roasts that let the beans character and complexity shine through: fruity acidity rather than a dark, bitter sameness.

      • +1

as someone who has tried all three, agree with this summary too

    • +1

Airjo is not bad, decent beans and can usually find it discounted. Just finished my first bag on Inglewood and it was pretty average, wouldn't order again. Have ordered Lime Blue quite a few times and would again, love their delayed dispatch and discounts. Don't think I've ever paid full price as there is usually a sale, highly recommend!

  • hi OP, can you modify my dispatch date to NOW instead of delayed dispatch?

    ORDER #24296 Thank you :)

    • Hey @monkp thank you for your order, it's truly appreciated!

Today's dispatch is already at full capacity. Given that Monday and Tuesday are both public holidays, based on your location/shipping selection Wednesday would be the earliest delivery would happen. If we get through today's scheduled dispatch with enough time to dispatch your order and you'd still prefer it dispatched today, then please send the request through via a reply email to your order confirmation. No promises, but if we can make it happen we will :)

  • New to coffee making

How long should a 1kg last post roast date?

Contemplating ordering more than 1kg, but conscious that beans degrade over time

    • +1

It depends what you notice - maybe supermarket beans with a 1 year best before taste fine? Whole beans last much longer so grind fresh if you can. There’s going to be a sweet spot a few days after roasting (to allow degassing) that should be good for a few weeks but could taste fine after a few months. That said, Lime Blue have regular deals and postage is pretty good. The main reason to buy more would be to compare :)

    • This would differ for different types of coffee beans and roasts but for lighter roast usually around 19-30 days after roast date is when it's prime. I would say it's fine up to 2months. If you can't get through that quantity, just freeze them in bags around 21-23 day mark.

    • +1

Hey @SevenSmurfs appreciate you reaching out to check and please feel welcome to email us any questions you have to kick off your coffee making journey!

We recommend ordering roughly what you'd consume in about a month. If you'd like to order more than that e.g. different varieties, save shipping costs or lower life admin of placing multiple orders, then we recommend placing sealed bags in a zip lock bag and placing that in the freezer 1-2 weeks from the roast date. This will drastically slow oxidation, thus extending the shelf life :)

  • Just bought another kg of Moments to Memories to help us bridge to the next Frequent Buyers Club. We didn’t join the last FBC because we ended up a bag or two behind by the end!

    • Hey @akerr thank you so much for placing another terrific order with us and being a FBC Member, it really does mean so much!

Not 100% sure if you mean you ran out of the good stuff on the previous round of our FBC or the November dispatch? Either way if you ever need to increase the quantity of an order, please know you're welcome to email the request through. We don't want you running out of the good stuff, so if we can make the request happen we will :)

      • No, we still had bags by the end of the last FBC so we didn’t jump aboard the next one. The M2M is to keep us busy until the FBC after the current one :)

  • Enjoying my Sao Paulo SO at the moment. How is the Colombia with milk? And what do the different acidity ratings mean? Milk choco, green apple, pink apple, cereal?

    • +1

Fantastic to hear that you're enjoying our Brazil SO!

      Great questions :)

Our Colombia SO is excellent with milk, compared to our Brazil SO our Colombia SO will be a bit fruitier and have a bit more acidity.

Our "acidity ratings," just compare relative flavour acidity/brightness/sharpness of different foods to the acidity level of the specific coffee. For example, if the description said "grapefruit" this would mean that coffee has a high acidity/sharpness level, it wouldn't mean that it necessarily tastes like grapefruit; if the acidity description said "pear" that would mean it has a comparably lower acidity level…

Here's the acidity level ranking from low to high based on the 4 examples:
      1) Cereal
      2) Milk Chocolate
      3) Pink Lady Apple
      4) Green Apple

2 and 3 are very similar level, but still slightly different :)

  • Ordered another 4kg of São Paulo. Highly recommend.

    • Woot Woot that's outstanding, thank you so much for that terrific order and vote of confidence, it's truly appreciated!!!

  • Just picked up another couple of bags of Sao Paulo and the Swiss Water decaf (our usual go to's).
Fantastic coffees, that always get lots of compliments from guests as well.

    • Hey @thedrbill fantastic combo, thank you so much for placing another terrific order with us, it's truly appreciated!

Wonderful to hear that you and your guests enjoy our fresh coffee so much…sounds like you know how to pick good guests :)

  • I feel like this is one of the only coffee threads where there hasn't been negative comments, might have to try!

    • +1

I like the sounds of that, appreciate the opportunity!

p.s. I hope you mean you'll try our fresh coffee, not that you'll try a negative comment haha…I know I've got a questionable sense of humour :)

  • Picked up 2kg of São Paulo for hopefully some amazing Lattes!

Anyone use these beans with BDB and Eureka Specialita (ozbargain favourite combo)?
Curious to what settings are used to dial it in - would assume as 'fine' as possible and 1:1 ratio @ 18g?

    • +1

Love the positive attitude, thank you for placing an order with us, it means a lot!

Fair assumption, however the 1:1 shot is a ristretto, which is just a restricted version of the 1:2 ratio. As such the grind setting for both ratios should be relatively the same, the only difference is with the 1:1 you're restricting the flow and stopping the shot early :)

  • Columbia has been the best I've tried from these guys so far. The other blends of have been a bit too "roasty" for me.

Please keep fruitier beans and roasts coming Tom :)

    • +1

Terrific, very happy you've found a favourite from us!

Appreciate the feedback. From our one-time purchase options our Colombia SO is for sure the fruitiest on our Fruit 1 to Chocolate 10 Flavour Scale. Our other options lean a bit closer to the chocolate end of the scale.

We have offered even fruitier coffees before, but they've been available in an AeroPress combo bundle or our FBC Surprise Mystery Flights. It can be a tad tricky to find high quality, fruity coffees with clarity (as opposed to cloudy) of flavour at a viable price point with enough supply available to make it a featured SO. We're actually working on launching a fruity blend; once again the consistent supply of the fruity component/s is the spanner in the works prevent a site wide launch…the search continues :)

      • That's fantastic to hear :)

It doesn't surprise me that quality fruitier coffee has been harder to come across at a similar price point because that's certainly been my experience for filter brewing journey so far.

Ozbargain in general can be quite demanding when it comes to competitiveness of pricing, but considering these flavour profiles are a bit more niche, I hope there is a bit more room to play around with viable price points.

For pure personal interest, if you had a surprise FBC mystery flights aimed at filter brewing only with fruitier/lighter roasts, I would be super interested ;)

All the best with your search!

      • Do you treat fruitier coffees differently to other types when making espresso with them?

        • @LimeBlueCoffee, what I meant was, do I need to do anything differently with fruitier coffees when making espresso with them? Eg, should I expect to grind finer, extract for shorter time etc?

          • +1

@kiitos: Hey @kiitos appreciate you reaching out to check, short answer is no, longer answer is likely a yes haha I know it doesn't sound like a helpful start…

From a pure extraction perspective, all things being equal (roast profile, bean density, bean surface are and how the coffee was processed) chocolate notes vs. fruity notes don't necessarily result in significantly different grind particle distribution or extraction ratios. However, fruity notes vs. chocolate notes usually points to different processes and/or different roast profiles and these factors do impact grind size and brew ratios. Of course, there are many other factors such as growing conditions and varietal, but I'm just going to go over the main differentials here.

For example, if a crop was split into two, half was Natural processed and the other half Washed processed. The Natural would likely be fruitier and the Washed likely more chocolaty. If both were roasted to the same profile then you'd likely need a finer grind for the Natural and potentially a slightly lower brew ratio (you may not even need to change the ratio), this would not be because it's fruitier but instead because the Natural process tend to make coffee a bit more fragile, which can result in lower density thus comparatively would have a higher porosity level.

Another example, the whole crop processed the same way, half roasted light and half a dark roast. The light roast would likely be more dense than the dark roast, thus have a lower porosity and need a higher ratio (more coffee to water contact time) and coarser grind, this roast would also be comparatively fruitier in flavour. The dark roast would be far more brittle, thus have a higher porosity, it would likely need a finer grind and lower brew ratio (less coffee to water contact time).

In a nutshell, the primary thing that impact extraction is porosity levels based on bean density. The primary things that impact bean density are the roast profile and how the green/raw coffee was processed. Overall I don't think you need to think it over too much from an extraction perspective, just followed the recommended brew guides on our bags. Thinking about how things like how coffee processes impact bean density has more of an impact when creating a roast profile :)

            • @LimeBlueCoffee: Thank you very much for taking the time to reply in such detail! That was an excellent explanation!

              • @kiitos: Music to my ears @kiitos very happy my explanation was helpful, thank you so much for the compliment!

  • bought 500g each hopefully it's good

i'm in search for good/premium coffee beans

Thank you for planing another terrific order with us, your continued orders really do mean so much. Good to mix and match, hope you enjoy our Colombia as much or even more than our Brazil SO :)

  • Hey there, what would you recommend for me? Pretty keen to try some new sources for beans, my local's quality has slipped recently sadly

    1) What equipment do you use to make your coffee? Breville Barista Pro
    2) How do you have it, espresso, long black, filter, milk based, dash of milk? Frothed Milk
    3) Fruit 1 to Chocolate 10 Flavour Scale, in terms of flavour what would your ideal number be? 8
    4) Low 1 to High 10 Acidity Scale, in terms of acidity what would your ideal number be? 2

    • +1

      Hey @tassietigermaniac

Thank you for the opportunity. Helpful info, appreciate you reaching out, better safe than sorry!

I believe you'd enjoy all of our offerings. However, I believe our best option for you would be our Brazil São Paulo Single Origin followed closely by our Moments to Memories blend :)

      • Thanks, I'll order some!

        • Terrific, much appreciated :)

  • What coffee beans would you recommend for coldbrew? I'm pretty new to making coffee, but I use a hand grinder and a hario pot to soak.

    • Appreciate the question!

All of our options work well for cold brew from an extraction perspective, it comes down to your personal flavour preference. More chocolaty go for our Brazil SO, more fruity go for our Colombia SO, somewhere in the middle go for our Moments to Memories blend :)

      • Excellent, thank you for your response. Going to pick up some bags to try.

        • +1

Fantastic, sounds like a plan, really appreciate the order, hope you love our fresh coffee!

Oh Lime Blue, you are fresh on my mind this morning.

I purchased a bag of the Columbian Single Origin to try from your deal in October. The coffee itself has tasted great. However, when I made a coffee this morning a horrible noise came spewing out from my grinder. After a bit of panic and time taking the grinder apart, I found a couple of stones in the machine. Whilst I managed to get my grinder working again, it still doesn't sound right and suspect my burs have been damaged.

Are stones common in your beans? I have gone through dozens of bags of beans but this is my first bag of Lime Blue and also the first time I have come across this issue. Loved the beans but am wary of coming across more issues like this.

Hey @ShrewdOrJustTight glad you "loved" our fresh coffee and thank you for your order!

Appreciate you taking the time to reach out. Hmm that's no good, foreign matter does get into all types of coffee at origin (even found 100 pesos in one bag ages ago), but with speciality grade coffee the amount of foreign matter is very minimal and we have systems in place to remove of this e.g. small bits of concrete from a washing station silo. We have roasted a lot (tons) of this Colombia SO and have yet to find any foreign matter in it, likely due to the level of quality and the fact it's been Double Washed processed, so I'd be astounded if any bags had a rock let alone more than 1 rock. Good news is good grinders usually have safeguards to protect the motor from anything too hard to grind e.g. a green bean or rock. The foreign matter may have come from previous coffee you've used from a different roaster and grinding our fresh coffee has inadvertently moved the rock into the path of your burrs. Please send us an email ASAP with the a photo of the burrs and rock/concrete, additionally the make/model of your grinder and a quick video of the grinder in action, then we'll move to next steps troubleshooting this for you :)

      • I’m right in the middle of a 1kg bag, so there hasn’t been any other beans in there for two weeks. There’s no where for any debris to hide from any previous bags. Unfortunately, the wife has already thrown out the stones before I could take any pics. They were two, about 4-5mm long and light yellowy in colour. It could have been concrete.
