Posting my first deal. I was browsing Camera Pro, and this seems like the best deal going at the moment. The visa takes the overall price down to $1045, which is not much more than the lens usually costs. I won't be buying it myself, because I'm not looking for a micro four thirds camera, but someone might like this deal.

Surcharges: 0.75% Card, 1.5% PayPal.

  • Can anyone recommend a compact quality camera (probably point and shoot) for taking family photos. I am getting sick of quality of pics with mobile phone cameras (Even S21 Ultra is not that good)

    • ricoh gr iii x is in this ballpark price range
+ fujifilm x100v but very hyped and OOS / price inflated atm

      • Thanks mate for the recommendations. I will check sample photos on the review sites.
I am guessing wifi connectivity means it is easier to access clicked photos on the phone straightaway for sharing?

yes, for transferring the images to your phone and controlling the camera as a remote.

A Sony RX100 (any of the many versions) would probably fit the bill for a small camera that will be an upgrade from any phone

But this deal is actually also pretty good for something a bit bigger as Olympus straight out of camera is really excellent - one of the best (fujifilm and Canon also generally considered pretty good with their jpg's)

Hey man. I'm a photographer but I had to reply to your comment because in my opinion, the 21 is a really, really good point and shoot. You also get a decent phone with it too!

Have you looked up any guides on how to shoot with it? My wife gets great results with portrait mode. My note8 is actually what got me back into photography. I spent so much time taking photos with it and got some really nice shots, that I realised I wanted to go back. Then I repurchased a solid camera and started advertising my business again.

Anyway. The thing is, camera's are expensive but we all need phones. If you're just taking family shots, I think it's much simpler to learn to use what you have, than spend thousands + on a new camera system. And if you saw my portfolio, about half the shots are with my Sony A7iv and it's selection of multi- thousand dollar lenses, and my mobile phone shots. You really can't see a difference (on insta etc) if you get the lighting right and are using the right modes. Obviously if we start printing photos, then the differences become really apparent. But for digital memories? The 21 is really good. I actually have the 22 and I really rate it. Cheers!

      • Yes having an eye for lighting, composure etc. makes a far bigger difference but that said, a real camera has all teh flexibility of different lenses etc. to take better photos

      • Thanks for the valuable insight. How does the iPhone 13 (non-pro) compare to rx100?

        • To take full advantage of iPhone capabilities, you need to use apps like Lightroom (to shoot RAW files without any noise reduction or sharpening applied), or Filmic Pro/Movie Pro (to shoot video at max bitrate and manual settings). If you do that, in good light the photos should be nearly as good as the RX100, and video should be better (you can shoot at around 200 mb/s bitrate on iPhone 8, so iPhone 13 should be even higher).

For casual snapshots viewed on a tiny mobile phone screen, iPhone 13 shots should look better than RX100 shots.

          • @ForkSnorter: iPhone 13 (non pro) cannot shoot raw photos.

Also isn’t, Lightroom a photo editing software? Can you use it to take photos?

            • @Cynicaloflife: Yes, Lightroom is a photo editing software, I think what ForkSnorter meant was to use Lightroom to post-process the photos taken with iPhone to improve the image quality to your liking.

I have an iPhone 12 (non-Pro) and for snapshots without the need of zoom capability, I am very happy with the JPEG photos taken from it.

              • @edfoo: Nope. For best IQ, you use the Lightroom mobile app to shoot RAW files.

                • @ForkSnorter: Gotcha. But don't you still need to post-process those RAW files in Lightroom afterward?

                  • @edfoo: Yes, on your phone, using the Lightroom mobile app. Quick process. Shoot, then click “edit”, then “auto” process, or process yourself.

            • @Cynicaloflife: Not true, iPhone can shoot RAW photos (using certain apps) since iPhone 7.

You are talking about ProRaw which is entirely different. The Lightroom iOS app on iPhone shoots RAW files, giving you full control over noise reduction and sharpening, etc., plus it allow you to shoot at 12-bit 3-shot HDR RAW image.

              • @ForkSnorter: Scored a Nex 5T for $120. Seems to be reasonable for me to get into photography

  • You can get the same redemption and price with the more entry (but more focal length range) 14-150mm lens. https://www.camerapro.com.au/9220-olympus-om-d-e-m5-mark-iii…

      Not same. $200 visa.

      • oh yeah, sorry. That's a considerably worse deal than just value wise.

  • Still haven't decided which one to get, this one or lumix g9?

    • i think g9 is closer to the em1 model. amazon has body for only $1200.

    • G9 is probably one tier up but if you're mainly doing photos, and want something a bit smaller, I'd seriously consider this. If you want to do some video too thought G9 definitely has the edge there

  • I just purchased the Canon EOS R10 from jbhifi. It doesn't have IBIS now I'm thinking I should go for this even though it's 3yrs older.. thoughts?

Thanks OP. Finally decided to upgrade from my old E-M5 Mk1. Hopefully the picture quality of this 12-45mm f/4 lens is a significant improvement over the 12-50mm f/3.5-6.5 lens. Will be keeping my existing 45mm f/1.8 and 40-150mm f/4-5.6 lenses.

    • Should be a massive difference, some reviews say that f4 pro lens isn't too far off and possibly better value for money compared to the f2.8.

  • George’s camera and Teds camera are beating Camera Pro’s price by 4 cents 😂 Must be clearing out the e-m5 iii stock being officially discontinued, which makes it a good time now to buy.
If you already have lens and just want the body, $934 with $200 Visa here https://www.cameraelectronic.com.au/olympus-om-d-e-m5-mark-i…

  • CameraPro has emailed me the silver camera + lens kit is now in back order and I have to wait for further news from their supplier before they can ship one to me.

Supplies are also short at Teds and George's, yes looks like Olympus is clearing this model for the replacement OM5 model.

OP you might have to change the status to OOS.

    • Poor form CameraPro. Just received an email from them the supplier told them this kit is out of stock, they offer me the camera with 14-150mm f/4-5.6 lens instead. I told them NO and want my refund ASAP.

      • That’s what I expected. They should not have offered back order. It’s discontinued stock, how can they back order when there is no new supply.
