That’s some serious power capacity. I was looking at my raspberry pi’s power usage and it was drawing 3W. 1600W sounds inane.

Ummmmmm originally $750!?? $600 should be the base price of of a 2000w unit. I'm sorry but i don't see the bargain here.

Have an AX860i from 2013 running 24/7 to-date without a hitch. Would recommend.

  • thanks, needed this to SLI 2x 4090's

  • When would you need 1600W?

    • +4

The 5090 will be 4250W so you might need 4 of these to power the next nVidia flagship.

      • You can power a lot of fridges

Honestly though, 1600W has always been mostly e-peen factor.

But modern CPUS (300W+) and GPU(600W) combo, plus a watercooled rig and a bunch of other gear, a 1600W would give you nice comfort. 1200W could cover just about any config, even 3090 SLI

    • powering your house

      It's a good epeen extension!!

Do the lights in the streets go dim when you power this thing up?

    • +1

      It’s only 2/3rds of a power board 😂

  • You can relax people, you don't need this type of power supply for the new Nvidia 4090 GPU.

    • True, but you do need a fire extinguisher.

      • -1

Not true either. 4090 has beefy coolers and actually running cooler than 3080 and 3090 on normal use. It only gets hot when cranked up to maximum.

        • +1

He is talking about the new plug the 4090 uses (with 4pin sense). They have been known to overheat and melt when using the supplied adaptors

  • using a 450w psu myself, 3.55x difference

    • Except efficiency matters and this isn’t using 1600W unless it actually needs to.

      • My psu is platinum, so close enough

  • Dual 4090 beefer

Thanks op. I was just looking at some Christmas upgrades for my gt210 and 7th gen Celeron gaming rig. I can finally sleep at night knowing that I will be able to game at 144p 3hz with 95% power efficiency.

    • Good to see official MSY 2.0 representation on OzBargain, look forward to seeing some deals matching the 1.0 glory days

  • Dunno what the negs were for on my comment on this being overpriced like most corsair stuff… check out the cooler master and supa nova psu's being listed. That's where this price point should be just above.
