Don't laugh young people, there comes a time when an old person will show you the way

Edit to add: 624s are damn comfy

    • +5

Haha love those guys, they seem to have an excellent relationship with their dad

      • +3

you definitely deserve an award for the best and most accurate description on this site, atm.

    • +3

That dolly zoom at the end brings it up another level lol!

    • Edit to add: 624s are damn comfy

I'm not a dad, but 624s are one of the few sandshoes that fit my wide hobbit feet. All the flash trendy sneakers are too narrow. And yes, they are comfy!

  • +3

    Dad's assemble!

  • +6

Black size 11 were in stock for $79. Work shoes sorted, thanks!

  • +1

Lol I want them just from advert!

    • they are addictive when you need that comfort fix, you will end up with more than one pair ….and they are on special often at either amazon, jim kidd, or new balance store, and leather upper …..not many x-trainers left with leather uppers.

  • +5

    That description :)

  • +2

    Love NBs!

  • +1

Do these go well with a dad bod? Asking for a friend

  • Err.. What would be a 9.5 aus size be == to?

    • official chart here, im paranoid so i always measure when my feet are slightly warmed up and go off cm -> shoe size.

      https://www.newbalance.com.au/size-guide.html

    • Your guess is as good as mine.

In the UK a size 10 is a US size 11. In Australia it’s whatever you feel like

In the UK it goes Ground floor, first floor, second floor…..

In the US it goes First floor, second floor, third floor…..

In Australia it’s whatever you f@kin feel like 👍🏼

  • NBS shoes fit me and i need new shoes!

  • Now I just need some shorts and a Camaro to complete the look.

    • +1

The only Camaro I can afford is the bumblebee Camaro dark of the moon transformer action figure currently on sale at $29.19 at amazon

  • Why are these so popular - can’t imagine them been more comfortable then a pair of ultraboost that can be had around the same price once in awhile

    • +1

      Because 👏support👏 is KING

Also for the Dad full set bonus.

My hypebeast years are well and truly done and dusted…. Though almost ironically maybe 624’s ARE peak fashion.

    • +3

I wouldn't consider them "so popular" in Australia. I see people wearing them occasionally, but not as much as I see people wearing other casual sneakers like Ultraboosts or even Asics.

Anyway, the 624 and Ultraboosts have completely different design principles and are for a different audience. The main difference in terms of comfort is that the 624 is designed for stability and the Ultraboost is designed for cushioning.

Because the 624 has good stability, comes in a variety of widths and goes up to a size US 20, it's basically the king of "big and tall" shoes.

Rose Anvil did a nice video about them if you want to know more

    • +2

They're damn comfortable, actual leather, and one of the few shoes that have actual wide sizing. Means I don't need to buy a shoe 3 sizes up just to fit my foot in properly.

      • yep 4e and 6e widths …they also make them in black …..

  • +1

So basically these are really good shoes… And they fit my orthotics.

I tend to order in advance and just have a couple of boxes spare… Waiting for the time when they are called to service. Right now I'm rocking the dodgy brown.

  • +1

    bought a pair
    now…any deals for condoms?

    • With a pair of these bad boys the misso wont be able to keep her hands off ya mate. Better get the value pack this time.

  • Are these good for light running and brisk walking

    • +1

      Yes

      • What about casual standing around?

        • +2

Depends, are we talking with or without frosty beer in hand while overlooking a perfectly kept lawn?

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Probably with, but also commenting on said lawn while showing photos of "how it used to look".

  • Great thanks

  • What is the difference in widths…

I've found New Balance to be a real lottery on WIDE … X-WIDE… XX-WIDE same model shoe

    • +1

Me too and I'm not sure there is a solution.

Even going to Rebel or some other retailer and getting the exact style/size/width there is no guarantee that what you get online will match.
(I think it's poor quality control or the same shoe is made in different countries or factories).

      • I bought 2 pairs same day of same model/size/width and they are miles apart :(

They have a return gig if you buy from NB clearance store (only place I look) - but its a PITA…

Havent tried XXW in a while… but pair i tried on at Rebel were like Ronald McDonald shoes

        • I would just buy two and return the less suitable one. Easy returns

  • +1 for top notch caption.

    • welcome to the stingzone baby get stingy

I'm legitimately buying my first pair right now because of Partiboi

    • +1

Price needs to be unprotected and $69. No buy.

  • +3

White for tennis, brown for casual, and black for formalwear… all the bases covered with my many pairs of 624s.

  • +1

The King Daddy of all Dad shoes.

    • welll, it was actually nike air monarch that started the “dad shoes” meme …..people like seinfeld, and especially sport celebrities and actors got photographed on the street wearing them when out with their kids ….. new balance came onto the market later with 624 ….and in australia a lot easier to get ….. but nike is a trendier brand …..

most nikes are normal / narrow fit so nike air monarchs get you the nike brand in a comfy wide fitting ….. vs new balance who make most of their shoes in wide fittings …..

love my 624 and easy to get in australia …have white black and brown, the brown are suede so higher maintenance if you like clean shoes.

  • Perfect for mowing the lawn in. I'll have these bad buys light lime green in no time!

  • Bought 2, they go with the other boxes of 624's in my cupboard, and my current pair will go into the garage for doing the lawns, next to the last pair. This is the way.

  • +1

Woot woot! Finally I can buy a replacement pair, having point-blank refused to pay the silly dad-ironic-cool covid prices of ~$140. With daily wear, these last for about 18 months, maybe 2 years at a real push, before you look like a homeless person. Bought on a price-protection card for extra dad tightarse points when they drop to ~$65 (which is about as low as they typically got previously).

    • I used to buy these (well the black colour) as work shoes. Lasted 8 months or less every time. Usually the sole wore down - problem solved by using insoles. The other vommon problems I had were the inside stitching/material breaking - thus it was no longer comfortable around the ankles. I used to love it when shoes would last 4+ years. Doesn't happen these days.

When I originally purchased them, they were $99. Then $119, now I see their regular price is $129.

  • Will people laugh at me if I wear these to the Gym? Asking seriously!

    • +2

As my mum would say, they’re only bullying you because they are jealous

    • Don't be so self-conscious.

    • who gives an intercourse if they do? honest question….

    • Not if you wear a Fubu tracksuit. Booyakasha.

      • Legit question, can you still buy fubu tracksuits? I haven’t heard of them since mid 90s…

        • Not the baggy tracksuits we're thinking of.

    • people will only laugh at you wearing these to the gym if you have a body like napoleon dynamite …..

      • I am a fat ass

  • Yay shoes.

  • +2

if you're going to use them for mowing just get them in green they'll end up that colour anyway

  • +1

10 stars for the description 👍👍

  • +1

    White/Navy or White/Nerdy :)

I do love NB by the way, a nice wider fit for my fat feet. I have been wearing them exclusively for around 12 years, the soles on these 624's look quite cheap from the pic but I havent tried them.

  • +1

not only comfy but also the number one recommendation of my podiatrist

  • Black would be nice but all out I think
