Price hasn't really fallen much in the past 2 years (was $139 at the end of 2020).

Laughable it's still sitting at this price then

        • +1

And that wasn't even the lowest price posted on OZB.

        • There seems to be a shortage of pc parts when searching for them on partpicker. Except the 5800x3d which is in stock everywhere for $550.
          Mobo prices have gone up.

    Caveat Emptor:

    1 x PCIe 3.0 x16 slot (PCI_E1)
    1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 slot (PCI_E4, supports x4 mode)
    2 x PCIe 2.0 x1 slots

PCI_E4 slot will be unavailable when an M.2 SSD is installed in the M2_2 slot.

    AMD® B450 Chipset:
    1 x M.2 slots (M2_2, Key M)
    Supports PCIe 2.0 x4 2242/ 2260 /2280 storage devices

In short, with B450, AMD crippled the BIOS to block PCIe gen 4 support on the CPU (which affects the CPU m.2 slot and the main PCIe x16 slot - both drop to PCIe gen 3). B450, no matter how much motherboard maker or AMD wants to spin it, is a PCIe gen 2 chipset.

Honestly, try to go for a B550 board. I guess if you want to pair it with a cheap AM4 APU, then it could be a low cost combination (but the price isn't the cheapest). I still suggest, in 2022, at least get a chipset that supports PCIe gen 3 - i.e. B550.

Lowest all time, I guess at $67.15, PCIe gen 2 is acceptable:

Paid this price for a New MSI B550M Mortar last year.. wow prices are really going up

    • +1

Yeah they are, the pricing on B550M boards is definitely on an upward trend, and stock is thinning out.

    • +2

It's getting very bad, sub $100 B550 boards no longer available - even the boards with no heatsinks and garbage VRM's
This Mortar and the Steel Legend are the only 2 reasonable deals remaining

  • Ran 5900X on B450. Perfectly fine.

I don't think this is a deal. I like my MSI B550M Mortar. But isn't this the usual price!? They've been discounted to $65~ a few times this year.
