If only it was the latest 55" Samsung 3D LED Smart TV, I would jump at this deal…I am hesitant to get an LG…

Can anyone comment on the relaibility of this TV, etc?

    • Sames, but hanging out for a mad price for the 60" 8 series LED :D
Might have to wait till march next year but!

      • Every Samsung tv (and product aircon, vacuum, etc) I have had were either rubbish or went in the bin.
I have had nothing but the exact opposite with LG .. 4y/o LCD tv that makes a joke out of my new panasonic plasma (wty remplacement because the first pana died after hardly any use) have 2 LG aircons, 5.5kg washing machine and some other lg gear and every one of them operates far better than any samsung junk i have ever owned.
Opinions vary… granted, but personally I rate LG tvs #1 closely followed by Sharp Quattron.
AFAIK they both come with 3yr wty (samsung panasonic sony 1yr)

Sounds like Life's Good in your world ;)

        • No SONY in your list!!!

        • haha….yeah…sounds like Samsung is not Digitally Yours ! ;)

    • I must be lucky, but we still have a first gen LG plasma which is 9 years old now chugging along fine. I also have LG's first LCD screen which I think is about 6 years old and that is still entertaining in the guest room. Mind you, I've never had problems with my 2 sony or samsung lcd tv's either.

If you have compared LGs 3D to Samsungs… You wouldn't say that..

      • so true! I was sold on buying a Sony, but when I actually checked them out and tested them myself I couldnt believe how amazing the LG 3D was. I actually want things flying out at me, not things flying around in the window that my tv has become. Im going for the smaller 42LM7600 though

  • Any extended warranty offers?

    • check the lg web site

  • Nice price… Cheaper by about $150!
    Review on cnet.

  • How does warranty work? Does LG send someone to pick it up?

  • Warranty is usually authorised third party and they'll pick up. I had this TV for 3 weeks, then the centre speaker fell and smashed it like a dropped iphone. Sent it to the authorised repairer who had it returned to me in 3 days (i had to pay for the repair as it was not warranty related).

In terms of the picture quality, there are samsungs and sony's on the market which are superior to this screen. The screen is also very glossy. The lg's TruMotion doesn't appear as fluid as sony's TruMotion. The reason I chose this screen over any other was because of it's Passive 3D, meaning $1 glasses from any cinema (it comes with 4). I've had 10 people around watching 3d movies because I have 20 pairs of glasses which are a lot more comfortable than any active pairs i've tried. Also, I just love the look of it, with or without the stand, on and off. The smart tv features are not that useful, except the MediaLink app, which is a variation of a Plex client (a network media player software which plays metadata).

It's a pretty good price, I paid a lot more but that's because it was a "now or never" moment.

  • Not the absolute premium. There are 3 LG models that size better than it on Video Pro's site.

  • Just bought one :) Now I'm going to pick up a LG blu-ray player and claim the $150 cash back too.

The colours and reproduction of picture is so much better vs Samsung and Sony's high end stuff. Plus even though motion may look better on those TV's if you look at the scene, it's actually just one big blur. LG doesn't compensate, so you get the real picture.

Plus passive 3D is soooo much nicer oh and Dual Play for gaming is pretty awesome!

You won't be able to claim the $150 cashback for two reasons as per their T&Cs:

      1. Participating retailers do not include ebay 3rd party internet sites

      and

      1. Both products must be purchased from the same retailer on the same day.

I only know this because I was thinking of doing the same thing… :)

      • That sucks :( Oh well.. no free blu-ray player :'(

  • Double post? How do I delete?

  • Does anyone know what these TVs are like for watching the footy? Is 100Hz enough or should I spend the extra for a 200Hz TV?

  • Sounds like alot a for an LG TV.

  • I just got a Samsung 55" es6800 for $1797 which is comparable - though I think the Samsung is better…? From the good guys -might be able to couple with the free play station deal?

  • I just bought one, hope its good as samsung tv's are umm…
