Info stolen from here
Note that this is a dessicant dehumidifier, so it works by heating up silica gel beads, meaning it will often heat up your room significantly (and draw quite a lot of power in the process). I would only suggest getting this if you live in a colder region; you can still use it in a hot climate of course, but it'll make your room uncomfortably warm and you'll get a bigger electricity bill than if you used a compressor dehumidifier which works best in warm weather.

According to Ausclimate themselves, the efficiency cross-over point is approximately 20°C, so if your home is usually above that temperature, you're probably better off getting a traditional compressor dehumidifier instead:

If you do end up shopping for a compressor dehumidifier, get the most powerful model you can afford — I suggest looking for a moisture extraction rating of at least 35L per day, as that maximises energy efficiency and thus saves you money in the long run when it comes to your electricity bill:

Great price and decent dehumidifier. I paid $350 a few months ago (when there was a dehumidifier shortage in Sydney) and thought that was a good deal.

I've had issues ordering from The Nile before. Waited a month for an item to be delivered, nothing arrived. When I contacted them they advised me that they couldn't locate my payment and that I would need to provide proof of payment. A quick Google search showed that multiple customers have faced the same issue.

Disputed transaction with credit card provider to receive a refund.

Might be a good idea geting it through their ebay atore then. Makes it easier to lodge a dispute via ebay.

  • Sounds like a tease. I doubt anybody gets one at these prices.

Sure it has ☺️ you mean they clicked a button

      • I ordered one around 5 minutes after this deal was posted and mine definitely hasn't shipped yet. I'd expect them to ship in early January, but I'll post an update if they do the dodgy and nothing has moved by then.

Mine just got shipped today. Looks legit

        • Can confirm that my order got shipped on the 29/12/2022, though for some reason I didn't get a shipping notification, only an invoice. Had to login to find out the tracking number.

          • @deadpoet: Update: received the parcel from The Nile, can confirm it's all legit. Testing this dessicant dehumidifier now and it works brilliantly and performs as specified. Power draw is roughly 761W for full power dry mode, and it definitely heats up the room by 2 degrees or so.

Thanks again to Koipanda for this deal, this was a ripper of a price for a brilliant piece of equipment! I'm going to be reserving this for use mainly during the colder months, but in a pinch it can work during summer as well as long as you can tolerate the extra heat it puts out.

      • Nevermind. Re-read it and they said it will be shipped :(

  • Have one and love it . Use it to dry clothes all the time.

    • I'm curious how these work, given the humidity in my place (in Melbourne) often seems high due to generally poor air flow. Particularly in winter, I'll wake up with a lot of condensation on the bedroom window.

How often do you need to empty these? Are they noisy? Is it something you'd run all night to keep humidity/condensation down?

Can put it in quiet mode.
Warms up your room by a few degrees , and obviously drops the humidity.
I also have a cheap wi fi temperature/ humidity sensor so i can see how well it works.
Had a rainy day this week and heaps of washing . Closed up spare room and within a few hours the washing was dry, room was decidedly warmer though. It switches itself off when water container full. Container takes a few litres.
Clothing dried was a very full load in a 10kg machine.

"Had a rainy day this week and heaps of washing."

So it does work above 16'. What was the temperature on that day?

I started a Camel price warning 4 days ago on Amazon when it was $425 and it's been going off every day, in small increments, then today it's showing these unbelievable prices everywhere but you can't actually buy it. Smells like BS. Good luck anyway.

  • Anyone received this? My tracking number on my order doesnt work…

    • Mine says in transit. Check who the carrier is. mine is ShortHub

      • mine just arrvied… pretty awesome deal… worth more than what we paid probably could sell in winter.

        • Same just got it. I don't need it so ill probably either sell it or give it as a gift lol

  • Mine arrived this morning via Direct Freight
