    About time!

  • +7

"The Steam Store is experiencing some heavy load right now. Please try again later."

    Oh dear.

    • +2

      Did Gabe put on weight?

      • +6

You want to delay it, don't you?

        • -2

          Delay what?

        • +6

          Don't make him threepeat himself…

        • +5

Every time someone on the internet makes a fat joke about Gabe, he delays the release by a month.

        • HAHAHAHAHA!

        • This is also why HL3 has had its release date delayed til 2059.
          Damn you internet!

    • Well who didn't see that happening???…… crickets

  • Wow, a vote to see which deal would be next?!
    Awesome!

  • +3

I'm gonna need some backup here guys. My wallet is resisting arrest! Need assistance!

    • +3

Roger that, Reporting in, Go go go!

      Anyone found anything worth getting?
      I found http://store.steampowered.com/app/48220/?snr=1_6_4__421
Heroes of might and magic vi which was one of my favourite games earlier in the series

      • I haven't played it, but Hard Reset for $3.75 looks to be worth getting. I bought Mirror's Edge when it was a weekend deal not long ago, and I think its a great game for $5. Also: The Witcher for $6. DX:HR is also highly recommended.
        /$0.02
goes back to scouring the under $10 section

        • -6

If you've played the demo of Mirrors Edge then you've played the whole game. I honestly wouldn't even bother spending a dollar on the game when there's a demo available.

        • I got 8 hours out of it, so I was pleased. Given the choice, I would probably still pay for it, anyway.

        • ive played through it 6 times, so i humbly disagree

      • +1

        It has a demo,

      • Heroes of Might and Magic V is still amazing, only $5 now. Expansions are only $2.50 too!

  • EDIT - Whoops, double post!

  • Vote for BATMANN

    • +1

I went for The Witcher 2… sorry :)

      • +1

        anything for virtual romance :D

  • +2

    my body is ready

  • I think they broke the internet and many of our wallets… :|

    Rockstar Hits Collection
80 usd in au/50 usd in us
what a joke, doesn't even have a season pass for la and mp3
really starting to hate rockstar for their dlc & regional pricing policy

    • +4

i usually just buy US games using a proxy and then gift them to my normal account…its usually the way to go

      • +3

yeah i once thought about buying gta complete for 5 gbp, then i realized it might be better just pirate that shit instead of pirating after being banned for using vpn, i own every gta title on xbox anyway and just wanna try out that vice city mod in rage engine, shame rockstar is following EA/Activision's business model which explains why i skipped LA noire and Max 3, 90 usd on steam and a further 40 for a season pass with dead online community? xxxx it

        • I know right, been trying to play multiplayer on MP3 for awhile and I never connect. When I do it crashes.

      • how to set up the proxy?
        cheers

  • +1

    heavy load

    • +1

      Gaben = Heavy Load?

      • we want Half Life 3, not Heavy Load 3

  • +16

I told a friend to hold off buying L4D2 until the summer sale; he finally grew tired of waiting and bought it yesterday.

    • LOL! Exact same thing happened with a friend of mine. He bought L4D2 as well..

      • +4

Isn't that the version for kids?

        • +1

unless he did some IP tricks, yep

        • +3

Yep.. I told him that I would buy the uncensored version for him for $5 when the Steam sale starts but he insisted on buying the censored version himself for $20.

        • @Ace Hahaha :)
Exactly. But he actually went so far as to say "you're waiting for something that probably won't happen"
sigh… I even showed him that Reddit post…

    • he brought the aussie L4d2 :( Poor guy… Thats the worst thing on steam :/ best would be to buy it from overseas or a key site :/

      • hey just thought with the R rating system coming out will they upgrade us Aussies?

        • doubt it. they'd need to modify & resubmit the game to get it reclassified
why would they bother since it's pretty old already?

        • Why do they update it frequently?

        • yes they modify a few of the game types and add maps fairly regularly.

          @meeks
I wouldn't think that they would need to do much after all they have a 'gore' version already for everyone else .. they just need to resubmit that.

why would they bother since it's pretty old already? It's still a great game and I'm sure the publicity would sell more copies .. more users of L4D2 will help sell more L4D3 when that eventually comes out too.. any way heres hoping.

        • +2

The German version is censored as well BUT they can opt in to enable the gore via a patch that Steam offers. Aussies *should * be able to have the same option, but then again since it's already been classified/rated and whatnot so they probably won't want to review the game again.

        • Germans also get extra weapons :(

  • Steam store is getting thrashed. Can't even connect.

  • i hope they do giveaways like they did in the winter sale, got my portal 2 there for free hehe

    • After the whole coal farming ordeal, I kinda doubt they will :/

  • +2

Bit of a letdown, at the moment. Not as good as the winter sale, where a <50% off discount was a rare sight, and the Australian regional pricing is a bit of an annoyance.
Still, some good bargains to be had!

    • +3

Wait for the games to become daily deals

      • +1

I know; in general, though, that's just my initial impression - that the discounts aren't as great as they were for the Holiday Sale. Don't get me wrong, they're not bad

  • Some pack deals are noticeably absent from our store, but present on others (for the moment, at least):
    Valve Complete Pack
    Square Enix Hit Collection
    Bethesda Collection
    Activision Hits Collection.

Other region's pack deals also have better percentage discounts than we do (in addition to the already better pricing). Can't help but feel a tad cheated, I suppose.

  • +1

What's the difference between Train Simulator 2012 and Trainz Simulator 12?

  • +27

Just remember, if its not 75% off, it's not worth it!

  • +2

Most have been cheaper on amazon and greenman lately. Glad i didnt hold out.

  • +1

    Good bye wallet.

  • +14

It's winter!! I wish international companies would get out of the dark ages and confirm we are in fact living on a round planet.

But too many great deals, I have to resist not purchasing more games I'll never play :D

    • +5

Green man gaming are about to kick off a Winter sale, tongue in cheek at steam.

      From greenman gaming

      "Winter (Sale) is Coming

Why winter you ask? We think it's important not to forget that we're living in a very small world these days, and our friends in the southern hemisphere are in winter now."

    • +1

I'm at the point where games I really want to play are $10 but I'm still not buying them. With so many serious best-game-of-all-time candidates already sitting unplayed in my steam, I know I won't run out until the Holiday sale (where they'll probably be $5 or $7.50).

  • These SS deals are famous. Gamers wait all year for it!

    • +4

      well, 6 months

  • +1

Remember to use your US friend to gift it to you or get US proxy if the prices are off between USD and AUD!

    • +2

and most importantly remember to check if they are cheaper before buying from here:

      http://steamprices.com/

anyone got a guide to using proxies, whenever i try i fail…

      need a US/UK account

      • You dont need a US proxy its account locked

  • Hah. ARMA2 is top seller and its not even daily. Saw that coming.

  • Saints row 3 will be on sale in 15 minutes (75% off)

  • +1

Any skyrim sales? Work blocks all gaming contents on the web unfortunately and vodafail is not liking me today on the iPhone. :(

    • +2

still 60 bux… or 40 in the US… dont know what is wrong with them… 90 bux is just crazy!

better off getting it from amazon anyway:
      http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim-Pc/dp/B004HYIAP…

      • +1

To be fair, that Amazon one is shipped, whilst this is a Digital Copy, so much, much easier to deal with. I wonder why Amazon has no Digital copy of Skyrim - something of a disappointment.

        • +2

Yeah, it's funny I can't find a cheap legit digital copy of Skyrim anywhere. And by cheap I mean I would pay 20-25 bucks for it.

        • yeah, opps sorry forgot to mention that, seems to come from the UK but they wont ship it to australia which is just stupid…

        • i think the cheapest skyrim copy was at green man gaming at $30. I should of grabbed it… tried to wait and see if anyone else would go cheaper…

    • It's currently at -33%, but hopefully will feature in a daily deal. I've been waiting for this, too!

  • +5

    My first impression: quite unimpressed.

    • +2

      It's only Day 1, sir.

    • +16

      Probably steam sale fatigue.

Typical OzBargainer-gamers have a conditioned pavlovian saliva response for the big steam sales by now, but we've already bought more games than we can ever play, and aren't wowed by any discount less than 80%.

      • +1

        mmmmm pavalova.

      • +5

My back catalogue is terrible. Around only half were ever downloaded, and maybe half of those played seriously and 10% played to completion. I have more games than I can play for the rest of my biological life.

I still buy these cheap games because of the 'what if' scenario.

        • Same. I know what I'm doing when the zombie apocalypse arrives :D

        • +2

Left 4 Dead till I'm dead.

        • That is why I still buy physical games. The self-induced guilt-trip brought about by staring at my still shrink wrapped copy of "Duke Nukem Forever" sitting on my shelf may one day compel my masochistic side to "play it".

    • Me too, theres a lot of regional price gouging going on here, and we aren't getting the good sale prices =/

  • +1

Are any of the indie games any good? I saw terreria for $2.50, so I bought that… well actually the "4 pack" for $7.50, since the kids have steam accounts too. I've no idea how to gift it to them yet though.

That and Portal 2 for $5 were the only things that have caught my eye so far.

EDIT - I'm still playing Ghostbusters from their Halloween sale :(

    • apart from stuff you mentioned, i've bought audio surf, maybe you should check it out and make sure you're not interested in other ones in the day 5 bundle, now im waiting for oil rush from day 2 bundle, day 4 is also decent, a valley without wind looks kinda interesting like terraria and sword & sworcery is a great game even comes with soundtrack

  • Arma 2 - 20% off.

Cherno needs fresh blood, join us !!

  • <deleted>

  • +3

As with any Steam Sale, WAIT for the daily deals. If the item you want has not hit a daily deal, just grab it on the final sale. I would hazard a guess that ARMA 2 CO will be at 50% off sometime during the sale, so no rush.

    • +3

I hope so, I want to play Dayz…

      • +8

That's all anyone wants from Arma 2.

  • +6

As i always say with these and as others have said already…

    WAIT FOR THE DAILY DEALS!!!!!

Also this time around we have FLASH DEALS and COMMUNITY CHOICE DEALS!!!

Things that are 33% off today could be 75% off tomorrow or the next day… BE SMART AND SAVE BIG!

    • yep throw the things you see in your wish list and buy them on the last days of the sales unless in the mean time they come up as a daily specials or some such.

  • Badlands GOTY edition is currently 75% off on amazon which trumps the 50% on Steam: http://www.amazon.com/Borderlands-Game-Year-Edition-Download…

  • +2

Back to the Future game. ->> Flash Sale 75%
    $24.99 —> $6.24

Well worth it. Expires in 6 hrs
