        My fake gifting account is address in the US. Problem is I can't get past the payment page with a US region purchase if I don't use an US address. And if I use an US address, it won't accept any of my cards!
        I just bought Alan Wake in Aus region perfectly fine, but can't get anywhere if I try to purchase US region ones.
        Maybe credit card companies are now verifying all parts of the billing address against your database? Le sigh…

    Fortunately, I am not a sucker for hoarding digital purchases and content. It is the most insidious and perfectly hidden method of hoarding with no trace or evidence apart from your password secured steam account(aka "the vault") and monthly bank statements which will show multiple strange debit entries. My mountains of games are sitting in boxes in my bedroom laughing at me, taunting me, for they know that the harder I try to play them all, the more the games will pile up. We gamers are doomed!

    Tried buying L4D2 from the US store, didn't work. Now I'm getting the following error message when trying to make any purchase:

    There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance.

    Have lodged a ticket with Steam Support. Has anyone had this error before, and how did you get it working again?

      Tried to purchase from US store using US card and address and getting the same errors.
      Paypal wouldnt work and just throws me back to the cart page on steam.
      Even AU details get an error now so I've also submitted a ticket.

      No don't. Once you get it, you can't get the uncensored version. You'd have to make a whole new account.
      Get someone else in the US to gift it to you. Look up the comparison between the versions yourself to see if it's worth it.

      So yeah if you want the game then buy it now for $5 (75% off). The Dirt 2 page says 'offer ends in 22 hours' as well so after that time it will go back to only 25% off.

    I sought L4D2 and tried all configurations known to me in order to get the uncensored version….all to no avail. This included visa, master c, paypal, VPN, new account, US and UK cc……

    Shame as the 4 pack for 15 bucks would have been nice.

    I figure it must compare purchase to the account address and hence the strange lack of love.

    Thought i'd let you know to save you time trying or at least share my bloodless hair-pulled luck.

          Yeah I personally wouldn't risk it, especially because it's a memory patcher that edits the game files. That's how most hacks work so VAC could quite easily detect it as a hack and ban you.

      This happens at times during steam sales. I just picked up the base LA Noire game + LA Noire: DLC Bundle for $8.23. I don't think there's anything missing from the pack that the "Complete" edition has, but if it does, I don't think it's worth the extra $6.76.

    Why only post 'notable savings'? Why not update the thread with all the daily deals? What isn't deemed 'notable' by you, could be by others; so there's no harm in typing just a few extra characters. I'm sorry, but if you weren't prepared to update the deal accordingly and properly, why bother posting it?
    Also, the now defunct flash sales should be removed, and the pack deals updated.

      I think (but not sure) that you don't. The only experience I have with this is when I already had 'Napoleon: Total War' and then bought the Empire + Napoleon pack (cheaper than just Empire alone), but I didn't receive an extra key or anything for Napoleon.

    To be honest, these sales arent as good as they used to be.
    Not that the deals arent good anymore, the deals are actually pretty much the same every time. Which is why it's just not as good anymore - most people have already bought what they wanted out of these games in previous sales and have already had the opportunity to buy the others..

    Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it! But I haven't found anything I want yet, and it's more or less the same as all the other sales

      I felt the same way last sale. I visited Steam every day of the sale in hope there was a game I'd like but I ended up buying nothing. This sale there were a few games that I've discovered over the past few months that I picked up cheap like Portal 2, Borderlands, Alan Wake American Nightmare and Mount & Blade: Warband.

      The sale discounts aren't as good as previous sales though. Most of the Valve titles are usually 75% off throughout the duration of the sale but this time they're only 50% and occasionally the odd one goes 75% off during the flash deals. The other publishers games aren't discounted as much as they usually are either but I guess they're doing that to put emphasis on the flash deals to get people returning back to the store numerous times a day in hope that they'll buy something extra while they're there.
