Oz-Pet Oval Sieve Cat Litter Tray Set $19.95 Delivered (Was $59) @ Oz-Pet

120

Used for wood pellet litter and a good saving from the normal $59.

The only downside compared to a rectangular tray is it may be harder to decant.

      Sifting for nuggets

  • Good price on the tray compared to CatMate!

  • Thanks OP, spare tray for the kitties

  • Has anyone tried this with clay litter?

    • Does your clay litter clump? If so, the clumps may be too large to filter through to the bottom so might not be very useful.

      • No it doesn't clump. I was wondering if some of the wee would run through to the bottom tray, keeping the litter a bit drier.

        • Honestly highly recommend swapping to pine litter as the pee absorbs quickly, and the "spent" sawdust drops to the bottom of these filter trays easily. Keeps the rest of the litter fresh and dry.

          • @peepeepoopoo: Where do you buy yours? For how much? Do they work well? What about poop?

            • @fufufu: I use the CatMate brand of pine litter - available on Amazon, PetCircle and a bunch of other online stores. I just buy from wherever has it the cheapest in combination with kibble/flea drops when I need to restock :)

Keep in mind pine litter will only be optimal with these trays that have sieves!

    • Haven't tried but recall reading somewhere these types of sieves have 5mm holes. Used with regular clay litter most of it will just fall through the sieve and end up below, with only the larger chunks caught above. Is that your intention to easily remove poo?

If used with clumping clay all of it will fall through and pee will clump around the sieve which would be nasty to clean.

    • My kitty's using this right now with Breeder's Choice, though without the grate. Frankly I never understood the point of the grate as the holes in it are larger than any pellets I've bought. I haven't thought to try with wood pellets as I think they'd be similar size to Breeder's Choice pellets and fall right through.

Unlike the Oz-Pet set, the grate sits in the bottom of the tray so you'd have to take the top off and lift it up to sift the litter through every time if used with wood pellets.

    • I dug out the grate for the Kmart tray and can confirm it works with Catemate litter as its pellet size is much larger than Breeder's Choice.

The Oz-Pet tray is larger than the Kmart tray, sturdier and has much more volume underneath the sieve.

  • Is the OZ-Pet litter back in stock anywhere yet?
