Fender Play (Guitar Learning Web App) - 1 Year Subscription A$26.40 (90% Off, for New and Lapsed Members)

1370
newyear90

Budding guitarists, lapsed learners, time for a new year's resolution to get the axe back out?

Or maybe just want 10% off the Fender online store?

A bargain price to get into Fender Play, one of the many ways to learn guitar online. There are so many methods, apps, tools etc but at this price it's a bargain to get longer than the usual short trial period (I also love and support Justin Guitar http://www.justinguitar.com an excellent Aussie guy, give him a try!).

Ts&Cs say that the deal is not available via PayPay, but payment options for me were CC and PayPal. I didn't fully read the terms, and paid by paypal, and it all worked just fine.

Also mentions not for existing members. I cancelled my account approx 8 months ago, and this allowed me to re-join. So not sure if you can just cancel and re-sub with this (may need to wait out the remaining prepaid time on your sub?).

The 10% off Fender gear also looks like it's available via the AU Fender store (was originally limited to US store last year, but looks to have been added to AU! Hooray!)

Terms:

Receive 90% off the first year of a Fender Play Annual subscription and get 10% off gear for a year at https://try.fender.com/play/new-year-90/ and participating retailers. Offer only valid for new and lapsed annual, subscriptions purchased through Fender website at https://try.fender.com/play/new-year-90/. Lapsed subscribers may redeem this promotion, but will not receive a free trial. Offer not valid with Apple Pay® or PayPal®. Off er not valid for current Fender Play monthly or annual subscribers. Offer only open to residents of countries where Fender Play is available. 10% of gear offer only available in the US and UK. Other restrictions apply. Offer expires on 1/9/23. Click here for complete offer terms.

Sounds like a good way to get back into playing the guitar instead of playing the same 5 songs from 20 from 20 years ago and the occasional new tab.

Have they got lorna shores new album as tabs?

    • Hahaha if this isnt me!

    • +2

Things I never thought I'd read on here: Lorna Shore

  • +14

    Just signed up.

New user, after discount and a 2 week trial, my charge will be $16.50.

Also, activated the cashrewards $7 on annual subs, not sure if this will track.

    • +1

Oooh, how did you get the price down to $16.50?

      • +21

        I clicked thru via cashrewards.
On the landing page there is a Annual and Monthly button at the top right.
Clicked on annual, created account login, then manually add voucher on checkout page.

        • +1

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you!

        • +1

Thanks bro. Works smoothly and fine.

        • +1

Thanks, renewed for 12 months for $16.50 using this method, + hoping cashrewards tracks.

          • +1

@Warchest: Pretty sure it won't because the discount code is not listed on CR.

            • +1

@Muzeeb: Looks like it has worked… the $9.99 CR transaction is saying Approved in the app and I have $9.99 as an available balance (recently withdrew the rest of my balance). Unless they turn around after the fact and reverse it, is this possible?

If not, 12 month sub for $6.51 - Win?

        • +1

          worked a treat - thanks @newgas !

        • I'm getting a 404 not found error when clicking through CR- anyone else?

    • +1

Thank you, just joint with your method and hope cashreward $7 will track.

    • +1

      Thank you 🙏🏽
I am a retuning member (after previous trial) and got the annual subscription for $16.50
Also have the tracking confirmation from CR for $9.99, yet don’t think they would honour due to promo code 🤞🏽

  • Is this a good app for kids?

    • Giving it a go anyway

    • I would think so. Instruction is simple to understand.

  • Is there something like this for Piano too?

Pretty cheap, I use to play E/G when i was much younger so I am keen to spend a few hours a week brushing up.

  • +1

Bought a guitar for my son for Christmas, so this is good timing. Between this and Justin Guitar, he should go OK.

Might even try improving my own limited skills too.

  • this vs justinguitar?

    • +21

      American v Australian
Large Corp v Small business doing great things
Wants to sell guitars v wanting more people to learn guitar
Short free trial v lots of free lessons and content

I just really like the ethos and approach of Justin, but everyone learns differently, and I expect many will find Fender Play to be a very slick platform, with some excellent teachers. I do a bit of both, but if I had a choice, I'd go with Justin as I really like his approach and manner.

      • +5

+1 for not being biased at all for your deal

      • +2

I thought Justin was in the UK.

        TIL

        • +7

A Tasmanian living in the UK

  • i just started following justinguitar on youtube, how is he linked to this Fenderplay? does he have few videos on here?

    • +4

Not linked at all, just an alternative I wanted to mention…

I tried a few different methods to learn guitar, between Rocksmith, Fender and JustinGuitar, and found them all helped me in different ways. It all depends how you best learn, and what you find best motivates you to play more often!

Overall though, Justin is an excellent teacher, has been doing it for years, has a great back catalogue of teaching skills and songs, and he does it in a way it felt like he was just my teacher! Maybe it's just because he's an Aussie v the American Fender experience, but overall I really enjoyed his lessons.

      • sounds good, will give this a go if you recommend it. thanks

  • +2

Will this make me play like Yngvie

    • +2

      Sorry, only like Satriani.

  • Dumb question - but is fender play for learning the acoustic guitar or electric?

(I'm interested to learn the acoustic)

    • +1

      Accoustic, Electric, Bass of Uke!

You can also select what type of music you like, so it will give you songs that you'll enjoy playing

Pop, Rock, Folk, Country, Blues, R&B/Soul

  • Stupid question but is this the official app from Fender?

    • +1

Sure is! has all the official Fender logos too!

      • I will give it a try, thanks! Time to pick up my dusted guitar!

    • +1

Fender play is the offical app in iOS

  • +1

Yousician is more interesting for me. I have tried both.

    • How much is Yousician?

  • Just got 50% off but still in the trial phase. I need to work out how to swap to 90% off.

    • +2

Cancel. Create new account and apply new code. If you used a Gmail address just use the period trick.

  • Thank you OP.

  • Thanks OP. Great find

  • +2

Awesome find! I also use justinguitar and paid for his app to play along with the songs, I enjoy his teaching style but just grabbed this deal too.

    If interested,
https://www.guitarchalk.com/online-guitar-lessons/ has a roundup and Fender doesn't rate that well overall, but at this price its too good to pass up

  • Any advice on a beginners acoustic guitar. It’s been on my bucket list to do Extreme - More Than Words on the guitar haha

    • Fender FA-115 are a couple of hundred on special at it's low price, depends on your budget.

    • Artist Guitars do decent beginners guitars and their support has been excellent when I've dealt with them.

The importers at Giraween in Sydney that go by a couple of different names - Kookaburra Music Tree, Kookaburra Music Shop, Hill Sound International have some amazing bargains but I would take someone with you that knows guitars as they also sell some less than great products that have hit and miss sample to sample QA.

  • Thanks OP.
Looks like auto renew keeps annual subscription at the same price $26.40 !
    Nice !
    🎸🎸🤘🤘

  • Awesome. Thanks OP.

  • Thanks very much.

  • +2

The reviews that don't look like paid shilling are less than stellar.
    https://www.guitarchalk.com/fender-play-review/

Most people spend very limited time on the guitar and lose focus and interest quickly. If that's you having more mediocre content is not a good thing as it could lead to slower progression and even less interest.

  • Subscribed and agreed to pay annually $16.50 with PayPal but subscription in fender account is grayed out?

  • Any deal for piano lessons plz

  • +2

Gym membership and fender membership. I'm going to be so busy next year month 2 weeks!

  • Has anyone gone from 0 to respectable using this?

I have no background in music at all.

I'm thinking of buying a cheap $60 acoustic guitar from DJ City and giving it a shot.

    • +2

I wouldn't recommend starting with a cheapo guitar, it will be very hard to play and sound terrible, and be very discouraging. I recommend going into a music store and trying a couple of their 'budget' guitars out, just tell the staff you are a beginner and your budget and see what they recommend, Yamaha have some very budget friendly beginner guitars.

  • +1

Had a crack at the $16.50 and paid with paypal.
    Cheers OP

  • +1

Thanks OP! Hope this deal gets me back into the guitar!

  • This deal seems to still be going according to website but it's quoting me AU$265? The code is invalid.

    • Same for me. Oh well!
