  • Heat sink removable ?

    • +1

Question is not whether it is removable but rather whether removing it voids the warranty. My Samsung 980pro had a "warranty void if broken" sticker on one of the screws, guessing this is the same.

    • +4

It is, but you might as well buy the cheaper non heatsink version for $282 if that's your plan.
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/747927

It's also regularly on sale, so no need to rush out.

  • +1

Really wish I waited for the 2TB version instead of buying the 1TB version last year.

    • +1

To be fair, if you could've happily waited over a year I don't think you should've been buying in the first place.

      • 100% I should have waited. In hindsight, I could have got by; by juggling the games I would be actively playing.
I rushed, as at the time I maxed my storage and was keen for more.

Under 300 with heatsink I just had to get it…

    • +1

Same this should be perfect for my build. 🤘

    • Needs read and write above 5000 so yes.

    • Dear ozbargainers, please help a fellow in need of catching a bargain…

I have the drive in the Amazon cart ready to check out but I can't find that one really good reason I 'need' additional storage for the PS5. Please help.

      • +4

Mate if you don't need it save your money. Theres similar deals every other day.

      • +2

Dont buy it then, personally I have a gaming PC so I only need a handful of exclusive PS5 games. This means the stock storage is more than enough.
Adding unused extra storage is a big waste of money.

      • +2

I've thought about it myself, but can't justify the price, just get a cheaper 2.5inch external and when you want to play PS5 games transfer it to the internal storage

      • Hold firm and wait, a 4TB will be $199 in 18 months at most.

      • +2

If you dont need it for another 6 months, skip. Prices will only go down. 300 is a lot of money. Buy only what you need and use. Being an OZB member, I have purchased things i didnt need becuase there was a deal and have regretted later. Buy now think later is just a joke. Dont take that seriously.

This community is awesome. Thank you all for the best bargain there is: free and good advice!

    • +2

Yes. I'm currently using this for my PS5. Much faster than external hdd.

  • +3

This is an amazing price for these speeds with a heatsink.

I settled on a Kingston KC3000 without heatsink last week for around the same for my PC build but would've easily gone with this too.

Edit: Nevermind, OP linked to the wrong item.

How does the bookmark bring it down to $291.92?

  • Kingston KC3000 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD vailable for $293 @ Umart if you are looking for local stock similar specs.

    • The not so desirable bits:

      • No heatsink (if this is intended for PS5, or there is an intention to write a lot of files to it in one hit).
      • Not really available in every store (mostly QLD stores).
      • Have had experience with Umart products where they sent me an opened / used item.

Dunno their warranty process though, generally with Kingston products, the expectation is to contact the retailer and the retailer should either replace it on the spot or provide a full refund.

I think this is the best value around. I bought one for my 1st PS5 without a heatsink for $280ish and then paid $40 for a top tier heat sink. This was about 6 months ago.
Had to buy a 2nd one at this price for my 2nd PS5. Thanks OP.

thanks, finally pulled the trigger on this one.

  • Due to the heatsink, any idea if this SSD would fit within an Intel NUC Slim?

  • These are on huge discounts on the WD site too. I might just bite the bullet and make a purchase this weekend.

    https://www.westerndigital.com/products/internal-drives/wd-b…

    • Thats a US website and the price is in USD.

  • Thank you OP.
Finally pulled the trigger on this PS5 SSD for my dad. We missed out on the 980 Pro deal a few weeks back, but this was too good to pass up on considering that this SSD is faster than the 980 Pro!

Happy New Year OP & All.
