This or the shadowhawk 1000 posted earlier?

    • +6

      Both.

OzBargain - buy first, consider consequences later.

    • This as the other has expired

  • I hate Amazon so much as company and make a point of avoiding them, this deal has got me itching though.

Is there a reliable alternative source for genuine torches? I know its not the ozBargain spirit, but I'd consider full price over using Amazon

Amazon has the best online shopping experience, by far. What was your gripe?

      • too many dropshippers. you can find all the cheap stuff like this from taobao for one-tenth of the price.

        • +7

Thanks, lol, but people just should not buy shit.

        • +1

          Aliexpress has the torch game.

        • What's a dropshipper?

          • @MelBorn: middle man. They pay a cheaper rate to say, aliexpress, then aliexpress ships it direct to you, but the drop shipper charges you more than they paid and have done basically no work except making the ebay listing or whatever.

            • @T Man: could be argued that they have done the advertising/marketing

        Legend, thank you!

When I used Amazon in the past I have honestly found them to be fantastic from a customer perspective, no problems there.

Basically I hate their poor treatment of workers rights in countries where they can get away with it. Shady union suppression activities etc. We have enough bad actors whittling away worker rights in Australia without Amazon entering the mix. They have arguably been getting better over the last few years though.

Anyway I don't like getting preachy and up my own butt about it, but I try and stay principled with that sort of thing now I'm at the point in my life where I can afford to support better alternatives where they exist (Australian owned, made, and produced if at all possible). Voting with my feet / wallet.

Edit - not shaming others spending activities, everyone's situation/priorities are different

Manufacturers like this usually sell direct to the public from their own website and via AliExpress. But their websites may not meet the criteria for ozbargain (refund policy unclear etc).

It can be cheaper via an official website or AliExpress compared to Amazon. Amazon's refund process is pretty straightforward though.

  • Can recommend

    • Yes also can recommend, I've bought 3 of them. Great little lights for the money.

Question for the torch enthusiasts here…

What's a powerful micro-torch that's small enough to be carried on a keychain?

    • +2

Take a look at the Nitecore Tup or Tini2. Nitecore has a few lights in this category. The only potential issue is that none of them have great water resistance.

      • Thanks, the Tini2 looks perfect for my use. Do you know of anything similar from other brands?

Aside: So that's why they're called Nitecore…I wondered why a battery charger company called themselves that lol

        • +1

I ended up going nuts and buying the tini2, tip se and tiki

Will see which i like best and gift the others.

          Thanks for the recommendation!

    • Nano Flashlight.

      • Do you have one of these? They look a bit generic, like something off countless aliexpress stores

      • RovyVon 😂

    • +1

I used to have the original Nitecore Tini on my keyring, and it was a good little torch, but it did seem to turn on in my pockets semi-regularly (from memory it could be locked out I think, but I don't like doing that with a torch I'm potentially wanting to use). So I replaced it with a Nitecore Tiki, which I think is a pretty reasonable little light. It's bright enough and about as big as what I want to carry on my keyring. And to be honest, I probably prefer the typical cylinder shape of that over the box shaped Tini.

The Tiki was Nitecore's version of one of RovyVon's designs, which seemed to haved spawned many copies, like the Nano and a literal ton of no-name branded ones.

If you were okay with something slightly bigger, you could bump it up to a AAA torch, but they're unlikely to be as bright unless you get one that can also take a 10440. But in that size, I'm quite liking my Lumintop EDC01, it's a solid little torch.

      • Lumintop EDC01 - do you use it with eneloops^? What sort of battery life do you get?

^(or some other non-ozbargain endorsed rechargeables)

        • +1

Yep, I just use Eneloops (or Laddas depending on what's handy :D).

To be honest, my use of my tiny torches like the EDC01 or Tiki is generally only a few minutes at a time when I don't have access to something bigger, so I generally don't pay that much attention to how long it lasts at the various levels and just recharge every so often.

    • Lumintop EDC01

    • Another vote for Nitecore Tini2

I bought the PVD black one second hand and later bought a 15th anniversary edition. Gave the first one to my brother to replace his Olight i1R.

Olight have heaps of small keychain torches.

  • Thanks Op. Ordered 1.

  • Thanks ordered 1

  • Good torch. Had to send my first one back - kept turning itself off. Second one has been terrific.

  • p20i is better and is rated real luminosity not like these hit and miss amazon crap

  • Showing 39.95

    • same - voucher maybe expired?

    • Yep same for me too - expired i think

Is 18650 still the best LiPo format to standardise on in 2023? 21700 has 33% greater energy density so I was planning to migrate away from old 18650 stuff.

  • I have bought 2 of these in past and they both have been rock solid. Absolutely brilliant light and you don't know what you are missing in life, until you have these lights lol

  • why ozbargainers need so many torches?

    • -1

To find something to use with all the eneloops they buy.

    • When there's no natural light underground you want some light and backup light just in case.

      • Caves? Sewers?

    • +2

We wants it, we needs it. Must have the precious. They stole it from us. Sneaky little ozbargainers. Wicked, tricksy, false!

It rubs the ozbargain on its skin or else it gets the hose again.

    • no why

  • +2

Not expired yet, i bought one just a minute ago

  • Have one. Lasted 8 months before it no longer would switch modes. Only used like twice a week to walk to dog. I would not recommend.

  • Looks like back in stock.
