How is it different from the $6 camping chair from bunnings?
i mean, $90 for a camping chair? seriously?

  • This is for someone who packhike and cannot sit on the ground

    • +2

Not at all. It's for people who love the convenience of having a really comfortable chair that packs away into a tiny bag that can be left in the car and pulled out when they're:
      - at a mates house party
      - having a picnic in the park
      - visiting the beach
      - at home hanging in the backyard
      - camping
      - needing extra seating in the house
      - queueing for the latest iPhone

I've got 2 chairs and a matching table like these from helinix. 3 times the price of these Macpac ones, but worth every cent.

        Mate, you are RICH.

Nope. I'm too poor to buy cheap crap.

          Buy once, buy right.

Helinox were the only option at the time.

Note these are only 100kg rated - even if you're under that, doesn't speak much to durability IMO and might exceed the rating if your kid jumps on you. They also don't have pull tabs in the corners which are helpful for stretching it on the frame, nor cup holders like some do in this weight range.

If you're looking for something to throw in the car, you can find ones rated to 150kg with cup holders and pull loops.

If you want it for hiking, maybe consider the 3F UL which are a bit lighter (820g for medium size, though they are only 100kg rated like the Macpac).

EDIT: note, I'm referring to the Dyneema 3F UL chair, not their standard model. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001620423788.html

  • Looks like a knockoff helinox

    • really? which one?

  • The bunnings knock of helinox is actually really good. I bought 3 recently. They won't work for someone large 110kg+, but brilliant for keeping in the car for unplanned stops etc. https://www.bunnings.com.au/marquee-compact-travel-chair_p03…

    • Thanks for that.
