Another 2 XL reporting in. Need to charge during the day as I have heavy use.
Every time it starts playing up I just factory reset and it runs smoothly again.
Will use until I actually can't anymore, such a great phone. Tempted to buy another one from this deal (insane how they still have new ones) but that would go against the whole 'use it until it is completely broken' rule I have.

Thanks OP !!! Ordered a Pixel as backup phone.

Also an added advantage is the package comes with an official Google Charging Adapter and cable, which itself will cost more than $30 currently.

XL gives original quality Google photos on cloud free storage?

    • Its about the version not the size of the device - The Pixel v1 gives original quality free both the XL version and the standard size - the V2 only gives reduced size images for free regardless of the size of the device ie standard or XL

      • Ah I see so only pixel v1 gives original quality free of charge upload. Next HQ quality reduced size would be pixel 5 if your want the latest

    • +2

Your eyes aren't working at original quality, or you'd have seen the answer multiple times in the comments

  • Why is this antique phone still so expensive? Its like 6 years old. Expecting to cost no more than $100.

    • +1

Because its useful to save Google photos storage charges - as you can read above.

    • +1

      Camera, photo storage, 1440p 538 PPI P-OLED.

    • Because very few phones match the camera or interface, best phone I ever owned, no bloatware, responsive and just a joy to use.

    • +3

Because it's a former flagship of Google's? It released around the same time as the iPhone 8 and X and the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 8 - all of those phones refurbished are currently more expensive than this brand new Pixel 2 XL.

Also its camera is still better than all the recently released budget phones and even some midrange phones.

  • Thank's OP! I picked up 2x Mophie 10W Wireless Charger, one for my bedside and maybe one at the office, hopefully they work with my Motorola Edge 30 Ultra :-) It didn't like a lot of the low-power wired chargers.

  • These particular mophies are a bit stupid. Got one previously.

    • power brick goes into the socket diagonally which screws up anything going into adjacent sockets. Why they didn't do it square i have no idea.
-harder to get phones charging on it than my anker ones (slower to respond/harder to get the right placement)
-cable permanently attached instead of replaceable

I mean it's ok because it's cheap and presumably a-tick. Just make sure you can put the stupid power brick into your intended location as it'll block other things being plugged in

  • Yeah, an as new Pixel 2 XL used is probably a bargain buy.

This phone is the best phone I've ever owned, granted it's old but I doubt the 7 Pro will feel much different other than a few features.

  • What's the cheapest android with NFC?

  • +1

Pixel 2XL still a great camera

  • +1

Pixel 2 XL is great to use as a free Google Photo back up solution if you install the Pixel Experience custom firmware. No need to try find the original Pixel at a premium just for this.

It is now running up to Android 13.

    • -2

That custom rom can only give HQ photos upload unlimited. Pixel one is the only handset with original quality unlimited

      • +5

Not true. Pixel Experience ROM will emulate the OG Pixel and will give unlimited original quality backup. Not sure why people don't believe this.

        Source: I am doing it.

          • @neonlight: Believe what you want.

I have both Pixel 2 XL and Pixel 4 XL running PE ROM, and I get free unlimited original quality photo.

            • -1

@aveeno bb: What if Google finds people cheating with custom ROM on ineligible devices getting the exclusive unlimited original photo storage service, Google may ban the accounts and you may lose all the photos you saved?

              • +3

@Spacexyz: Same story as if Google finds out people are using VPN to get Youtube Premium from Turkey and ban Google account, and lose all access to email etc.

Im not doing anything illegal, just using custom ROM and it thinks I am using Google Pixel. If Google closes the loophole and fixes this issue, then I will stop using this method.

        • +1

Do I have to install something on my 7 Pro?

To be honest, I just back up on an external hard drive through my laptop.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: There is currently no Pixel Exp rom for P7pro but there might be other custom rom available that does the same thing.

            • @aveeno bb: Are you using just a general PE rom or is there a specific one that emulates the OG?

              • +1

@abs898: I've only been using the PE rom for Pixel devices (Pixel 2 XL and Pixel 4 XL) and they have always given me unlimited original-quality photo back up. All versions of rom for those devices have worked.

                • +1

@aveeno bb: Sounds good! Just ordered the Pixel 2 from another deal and looking forward to installing the PE Android 13 version.

    Any OG pixel 1?

    • My OG bricked itself into continuous bootloop even when it was literally only used twice to upload a few test photos in its entire grand two years of life in my drawer with the occasion charge. Phone has got too many issues such as battery swell etc too so it's not worth trying to find a refurb one. There isn't any new ones out there, you key in IMEI on Google to check if it's refurb.

      • Already got one now 🤣

Might root and keep the battery healthy between 20-80%

  • I bought a P2 XL from Mobicity in the ebay Black Friday sales for a little cheaper than this for my daughter as her first phone. It is in perfect condition, good battery. Good photos, she loves it. I figure it will need replacing in a couple of years, but for $150 or whatever it was, it was a bargain.

    • +1

Was it refurb? This one is brand new so it's the lowest it's been (for new).

      • Yes, it was a refurb.

  • Does unlimited storage include videos as well or just photos?

  • How does Pixel 2 XL 128GB compare to Pixel 6a 128GB?

    • 2Xl is better

      • In which aspects?

        • It's no 2 which is always higher than 6

      • :D I guess this is a joke but dang 6a must be bad?

        • I just think it's a joke to compare a 5 year old phone to something that is more recent

          • +1

@abs898: Why? The 2XL was a great phone with no battery overheating issues. I upgraded from a 2XL to an A33 and in general use the 2XL is far better imho as the Samsung just has so much Samsung crap on it.

            • +1

              @Plug: I did say 2xl is better than 6a.

I just again don't think you can compare 2xl to 6a.

It's just like you won't compare a33 to s22 ultra.

Sure 6a is not a flagship but you still won't. Different target audience, different market.

              • @abs898: True, but when they are older it's more about which is better for the price.

They are both mobile phones used for similar use case after all.

                • @ozhunter68: A very small % of people will buy 6a as a spare, but with 2xl most people will. ..so it's a very different use case for either.

  • Anyone have experiences (positive or negative) with warranty issues with these devices, given the physical age?

    • I don't think you should be too worried, Mobileciti is a reputable seller (some would disagree).

  • Morphie is sold out

  • +4

How are they even able to get brand new old pixel 2XL stock?

  • $35 for the Anker earbuds on Amazon, plus postage.
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Soundcore-Wireless-Bluetooth-Playt…

  • Just got my Pixel 2 XL from them. They are indeed sealed.

    • Are you located in NSW. I am in VIC and haven't even received the order shipped email till now.

  • +1

Mine delivered too today, brand new and sealed too.

  • FFPIXEL not working now

    • The promo ended yesterday

      • Yeah I realised that after I posted but cba going back to change it.

  • Missed out :(

  • Received on Wednesday, just day after the order. Sealed & new. Was very responsive and can't tell a 4yo phone.

Running Android 11 after updates but no future security patches unfortunately.

  • Got my phone today, (except delivery driver left it at the front door when signature was required) so whats the latest android version i can flash before start using this beauty. Link to the rom and install guide?

      • What are the benefits of flashing PE on a Pixel phone? To get regular updates or the possibility of emulating the OG uploads for photos/ videos?

        • Both. Android 13 and free unlimited OG upload.

          • @aveeno bb: Ahh thanks. Have got a infinite boot loop OG Pixel collecting dust. Likely a hardware issue.

Reckon it's worth the money to send it to third party repairs or just dump it? Battery seems to be holding charge, suspect it's either main board or connectors.

            • @LurvinOZB: Does it at least go into the bootloader menu? Did you try to flash it with stock or custom rom?

              • @aveeno bb: No, it was literally in the cupboard till recently I decided to charge it back to full batt only to realise it goes into infinite boot loop. Initially it was stuck at boot logo, reset and after letting the battery drain in repeated boot, it decides to allow me setup as new phone. Now it's just freezing after startup (sometimes if I'm quick enough, I get to enter passcode, most times it's just main screen freeze).

Which version of PE do you recommend?

                • +1

@LurvinOZB: Android 13 Plus. There is a specific version for each supported device.
