Not as good a deal as JB's from a few weeks ago but the best price I can find at the moment.
No expiry date listed so I'm guessing it's while stock lasts.

Deals for these AW monitors are getting worse or what?

    • +7

Not just Alienware. Dell branded monitor deals seem weaker and weaker.

      • Even though I wasn't lucky enough to get one of those price mistake monitors last year, Dell/AlienWare monitors have never felt more expensive.

Those 'deals' actually felt like what they should be worth when on sale

    Wasn't this just $1699 recently?

    • +9

      Waiting for $250 again

      • Ah but to dream

    Muzeeb approved?

I'm hoping that with the newly announced OLED panels at CES, this will come down in price.

    • +1

The LG Ultragear OLED is promising. I tried it at CES.

  • To use this delicious monitor I'll need a new pc and a new desk, somebody stop me spending 5k, help. My current monitor is on it's last legs…

    • +7

Get a VESA mount, then you don't need to worry about its legs.

    • If it helps: I got the DWF version a couple days ago (same form factor as DW) and measuring it now, the stand only needs about 31 cm of depth. Course you'll need more space than that for your keyboard n all but I wanted to mention it as I was surprised that it wasn't deeper when I got it.

      • How are you finding the dwf version? What made you choose it over the dw?

        • +3

Beautiful so far. I haven't built the gaming pc yet (waiting on Ryzen/Jedi Survivor Raise the Game bundle later this month) so I've only been streaming some TV and a bit of YouTube on it through my MacBook. Never owned an OLED before (other than my phone) so just been marvelling at the contrast.

I chose the DWF over the DW because:
          - It has Freesync instead G-sync. Good for me since I'm building with a Radeon card, but It also lowers the price of the monitor, and most importantly to me, sheds the fan required for the G-sync module, which I've heard can be rather loud. The DWF also has a better fan curve.
          - The user can perform firmware updates themselves. The DW version has to be taken to Dell for this and they won't do it on demand.
          - Less input lag
          - Colour accuracy & greyscale is apparently slightly better out of the box. Don't know how much it matters though.
          - More OSD features including: picture in/by picture, more HDR modes, 4:3 aspect ratio, sharpness, hue, gain, and offset adjusters, OSD is more responsive, and it has test modes to help you check for panel defects.
          - It has 2 DP 1.4s and 1 HDMI 2.0 (DW has 2 HDMI and 1 DP)
          - Comes in all black :)

The downsides of going for the DWF for me is that you drop 10 Hz but more importantly HDR is worse (apparently could be fixed through a firmware update, so fingers crossed).

I got my DWF for $1613 through a 15% student discount offered by a Dell sales rep in their online chat, so it beat even JB's deal on the DW last month

A couple good videos I remember watching to learn about the differences:

            @Fenyx: Absolute elite response.

I dont play ok hdr atm. Currently 1440p 32inch g7 240hz. So i guess even a not as good hdr compared to the dw is still better than none.

Frok what im seeing even led panels that run around 165hz in UW are still around the def price anyways.

I run nvidia cards so will the no gsync be an issue?

            • @Agechamp: Thanks!

From what I understand, Nvidia cards (as long as they're GTX 10 series or newer) can fully utilise Freesync the same as Radeons do. I believe G-sync is considered to be better than Freesync, so you would be leaving any benefits on the table (although you have to pay a lot more for it anyway).

      • I have an older style desk with shelves that only fits a 24", if I remove the entire top shelves the 80cm width will knock my speakers onto the floor XD

Not as good as the muzeeb offer.

Hey, where's the love? I posted the last JB deal for this monitor? 😥
Sometimes, all purchases can not be disclosed 😌

        • +3

          Yes they can. Don't be a pr#ck

          • -8

@The Wololo Wombat: I don't owe you anything mate. Don't be salty 😢

            • +1

@thousandsuns: then why comment. if you're not going to share the purchase why even talk

              • -5

@zjz93: I commented, saying it's an awesome monitor. For what I paid it is worth it and has no kinks or issues as most people spectulate. How I obtained it is irrelevant, but I can see see as to why people here feel entitled to be spoon fed everything. If I got it for that price, it was through personal means. Not everything is literally a deal that everyone can access.
I probably should have made it clear at the beginning.

Mind you, hundreds of people probably ended up purchasing this monitor last month when I personally posted the JB deal on here 🤦‍♂️

Also certain vultures like this dude above are the reason why this community is toxic at times. Always have to attack people for sharing something. FFS, get a grip!

              • @zjz93: Because you have to tell everyone about your sweet non-deals

                • @SydStrand: Mate get tf over it. You didn't even post that deal and it's not my fault you couldn't comprehend some simple math 🤦‍♂️

    • This was $1400 few months ago so not a huge deal he got

  • +2

Great monitor, flat qd-oled panels when?

    • Samsung hasn't shared any plans for smaller flat QD-OLED panels…these 34" panels are off-cuts from the mother glass used for the 55" TVs apparently

  • Has anyone bought this from Amazon recently ?
If so what firmware is it running ?
    Original or updated one

    • Questions/answers on the Amazon page say it's 102 firmware
