  • Seems alright for the price

    100kg distributed capacity

    So it's only 20kg / shelf?

    • +2

Nah don’t think so. Video on the stratco site says ‘maximum load of 100kg per shelf distributed evenly’

      • Surely the maximum load would be achieved by moving the weights as far from the centre as possible, and the closest to each of the 4 leg columns? Which would still be distributed evenly, as 4 separate weight points per shelf is divisible by 2.
Let’s try and hit 1 tonne per shelf, baby!! 😎

        • That would be a tremendous feat. I look forward to the documentary!

+Would assume uniform distributed load across width of each shelf level

A bit strange that the different products flashing by the OzBargain feed went from 200 to 150 to 100kg - seems like a large disparity for similar materials.

Can buy multiple of these cheaper frames for higher capacity compared to the various larger ones?

Thanks OP, I got 2. I’m sure they’ll sit in their boxes for a while before I can be bothered dealing with them to clean up all the clutter and stuff but the price seemed alright.

Need to build some shelves to contain our shelves

Pack each shelf full of pre-pack[aged] shelves

  • FWIW These do not dismantle well. If you're moving house, leave them as shelving for the next resident and buy more.

We've moved with shelving before, just loaded it up assembled onto the truck and then put stuff on the shelves whilst moving

    • just use a hammer to knock them apart. I've moved multiple times with mine.

  • Damnit I forgot to apply the voucher code. Anyone been through the process of refunding / rebuying from Stratco?

    • Update: call stretco and the IT department will refund difference back to payment method

Cons: These are a bit of a pain to put together, the centre shelf supports easily drop out if there's no weight on the them and the MDF is pretty flimsy. I wouldn't be storing my engine block on them
Pros: You can make two benches out of the kit which is very handy (you can't do this with the Bunnings Montgomery which I also have), cheap.

I have 6 of these in the garage for about 4 years in shelf and bench configuration and they are holding up fine.

    • I actually need a shorter set of shelves (bench height is good). If you make 2 benches out of this, are they sturdy? Just a bit worried about the bench that will only have 2 shelves (may be a bit wobbly at the bottom).

    • I have the Bunnings type and it can also be set up as two benches, just see the review pictures. Would recommend.

  • Do they worth $53 each after including the delivery cost? Or I better getting some from Bunnings? Thanks

I prefer the Montgomery ones personally (which are about that price). They feel a little sturdier to me and I prefer their locking mechanism over the slot-n-lock. But they're pretty much the same.
Main pro for me is that the Montgomery are very slightly wider, and you can fit the Rack-It 900x400 wire shelves in to replace the mdf shelves. They don't quite fit the Stratco ones. If you can find them that is. The 900x400 rack-it shelves are somewhat hard to come by.

      • Is it worth paying the $9 extra for the Bunnings Montgomery shelf (since this is $45 at the moment)? Would be collecting so no delivery fee.

  • Thanks OP, I bought 4 (C&C). Delivery was priced at $56 for the 4 units.

  • Shows as $55 for me?

    • Apple the code SUMMER. It brings down to $39.

  • I wonder if we can pressure Bunnings to price match with Montgomery version - they've done it before:

If these are built with screws and nuts/bolts then please avoid to save your fingers, and get something that clicks together

    • +1

Watch the video on the product page. No screws/nuts/bolts.

  • Always thought about using these as cheap wine racks, just leaving wine in boxes and stacked up.

    • Vision of the careless worker bumping the shelving with his forklift comes to mind…

  • do they sell hammers..

  • Shows as $45 for me now.

    • Code no longer working
