haha I registered at first with my first and last name (because the usa store done that), only to realise the second field is email address, and it let me "register" with my name as an email address.

    • +5

Ohmg they don't have email validation on that field 😅

    • Same thing happen to me, I thought after submit button I will be redirected to the next page where you can enter email addres.

  • +2

Samsung care plus. What a scam.

    • +7

      Swap fee will be extortionate

      • -2

Swap for another faulty phone, different colour or model.

      • +6

Then dont pay it and pay full price for a new phone. You not forced to pay for it

    • +10

No one is forcing you to get a replacement phone for next to nothing.

Try fixing that broken screen instead…

I appreciated my Fold 2 being replaced, even got the fee waived as it took long.

      • +6

100% agree. $300 swap fee for my wife's S22 ultra, cheaper than I paid for a screen swap for my S21 Ultra (which ended up not working anyway!)

        • +7

And a hell of alot better than a screen replacement which is never the same as the original. Water protection drops off too I believe.

          • +3

@scuderiarmani: Definitely! I had many issues with my screen replacement, numerous issues with touch not registering being the biggest! Ended up giving up and trading it in when they had the trade in bonuses

            • @jdawgydawggy: Not judging or condescending here. Just wondering how your screens die on you, seemingly so often. I have had my screen play up only once and that was on a dinosaur Sony Ericsson K750i. That was 16 years ago and mobile screens have come a long way since. Even my misbehaving company HTC10 screen lasted loyally till its end days when its faulty battery gave out.

              • @Shahrasb: Mine got dropped onto some rocks while fishing, and my wifes was due to a 1 and 5 year old, but hers was a cracked camera lens, not screen. Previously, when I got my S10, it dropped from my top pocket when bending over (so it dropped about 70cm), with a rubberised case, and it still cracked. Go figure.

      • +1

One of the biggest issues I had, was registering the device within 30 days of purchase.
All I got was the IMEI number is not registered. Or your details don't match our system.

I spent over a month chasing Samsung to mark my order compete and pass over the details to the 3rd party Asurion (aka SC+)

That's the issues I had, so Buyers beware and read the T&C's carefully.

        • +1

Yes. I remembered that the same painful experience due to their system issue. Hope Samsung won't have the same issue this year.

        • if they artificially hold you up, i think its fair to report them to ACCC

also they should be reported anyway for the super dodgy unclear instructions to register for SC+

    • I got bonus Samsung Care with my Z fold 3. When it fell out of my pocket and the screen smashed I was sure glad I had it. Better to pay $300 than $700 for a replacement screen (the current listed price on the Samsung website).

  • So not for Samsung EduStores ?

    Is it for S23 release?

    • +1

      yes

      • +1

Hope they gonna use Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in Australian version.

        • +3

s22 series had snapdragon so i think we will get snapdragon f

        • +4

          I think it's Snapdragon worldwide.

          • +6

@akula: It will be Snapdragon worldwide. But from what I heard from leaks so far, S23 might be using the overclocked version of the gen 2 chip, it might be manufactured by Samsung Fab instead of TSMC, then it might be bad at energy efficiency and heat just like gen 1 chip. But Gen 1+ was manufactured by TSMC, so it was significantly better.

So we will have to wait and see

Edit: so I just got negged for sharing, what I have seen so far?

            • @Ramennightmare: Second iphone goes USB-C I'm jumping if samsung can't sort this shit out. Double the battery life aint no joke.

              • @[Deactivated]: Strong opinion, I'm planning to get both iPhone 15 and another Android phone asap becuz my current one has broken fingerprint sensor.

              • +8

@[Deactivated]: I recently jumped ship to iPhone. Oh man, what a primitive system. I have huge resentment now. Can't wait to jump back to android. I love the Apple watch Ultra.

              • +1

                @[Deactivated]: That’s not true
Samsung released updates on ultra and it was pretty close now
The gen 2 ultra s23 will be heaps better

                • @Morpheus: It's not even remotely close, like for like.

                  • @[Deactivated]: Well I’m one of the videos it was an hour different
I assume with the gen2 the gap will close
May be not at the beginning
But once the updates are in it will be
One or two hours will not be a problem for me
I still want the ultra for its 100 times and the new nightograpy. I also miss the customisation and the open system in android bad since I had iPhone two years ago. And I just can’t stand the notch anymore. It’s an eyesore. It works well but I want my screen estate. Samsung also fixed their fingerprint sensors now. It works really well.

            • @Ramennightmare: Hey bud thanks for this. Can you share a link to where you got this info?

        • Very strong mail that all models would wide will use that chip.

          • +1

@wombat81: Warning samsung cannot mas produce their latest SG gen 2 chip as there are a shortage of Chips.

Apparantely, Tasmanian potatoe farms have been hit really hard with floods.

        • Hope it will be decently priced!

  • +4

I'll just wait for everyone to post their code, don't need more junk mail when the code isn't unique to everyone.

    • I registered this and was worried about all these junk emails when I read your comment.

    • use burner mails?

    • +10

      Unsubscribe. Not hard.

      • +5

Lol for some it's too hard.

  • +7

Get an Amex card people, either the Explorer card or the no annual fee essentials card, both have phone screen insurance inc for free as long as you either pay your phone bill with the card or buy the phone outright with the card. I've used it a couple of times now (well, my wife has lol) and it's been great.

    • Dunno, I like to use the Amex to get discounted gift cards @ 10-15% off and then pay using gift cards - so no Amex cover :(

      • Is this for apple products?

I've found it's hard to beat Samsung education store deals for new release Samsung's. Google store also do good deals for pixels.

        • I either get JB or Coles/Myer (officeworks). Worked out nicely for the Pixel release.

      • +1

How do you use Amex to get discounted gift cards?

      • I 've Amex ultimate Qantas
How do you use Amex to get discounted gift cards?

    • i would but my SIM provider doesn't accept amex :(

      • Well as long as you buy your next phone outright with the card, you'll be covered. That's how I do it.

    • +2

Felt like a hero when I told my wife about this after she dropped her phone.

Felt like a fool when I realised we didn't buy it outright and aren't paying for the bill with this card.

    • I've Amex Ultimate Qantas one which has insurance on purchases
is that the insurance that u mean?

    • 28degrees insurance too

  • +2

Can someone care to explain what this is?

    • +9

If you break your phone you can pay a fee to get a replacement phone. Cheaper than repair.

I'd never pay for it, but nice to have for free.

      • Wait so I can use my phone for 2 years and then (for a fee) send it back for a new one? or am I missing something… seems too good to be true.

        • +1

You won't get a new phone, though. It'll be a refurb. But yes, essentially.

    • Recently broke my S21 Ultra beyond repair and then ordered a Galazy Fold. Last night I remembered I had purchased Samsung Care+ and for $150 they're sending me another S21 Ultra. I presume it will be a refurb?

Not sure if I should send back the fold and keep the S21 Ultra, or keep the fold and sell the S21U.

    • +3

How date they not give you stuff for free

  • +2

What type of offer would you most like to receive?
    Trade-in
Storage Upgrade (is it worth with 2tb T7 ~$204 @BingLee
    Samsung Care+ ~ rrp$249
    E-Voucher ??

    • +1

I also wondered what the point of this question was unless it means we get that as an offer? shrug

      • That's what Samsung asks. What would you take if you don't know details of the other options?

  • +3

Dont forget the 20% off discount if you have a .edu email address.

  • +2

    Samsung care is a scam

    • Samsung really cares! 🤣

  • +2

It has just been a generic code in previous years

  • +1

I got a free care+ previously. Took me 2 months of back and forth with both Samsung online store and samsung care+ customer service to get it activated.

  • -3

I heard from a friend working in telstra that they get offer to buy new phone at 50% discount when a new samsung phone comes

    • +15

Cool thanks for telling us. I heard that elephants can't jump.

      • +1

        Wombats can type too

      • +2

I heard that emus cannot walk backwards.

    • +1

Not necessarily, last year telcos got 30% for s22 launch but 50% for flip and fold. So YMMV.

      • Yep. Let's see what is the % discount this year.

  • -2

Samsung default warranty is 2 years anyway so this a gimmick. Most phones wont have problems until after 2 years. Their OS and ram memory will be obsolete by then. More likely the problem.

    • +3

This isn't a warranty. It's for accidental damage. It's more like an insurance policy with an excess.

    • +3

Tell me you don't know anything about Samsung Care without telling me…

    • What are you talking about? This is for the new models.

      • -2

        Can't see the S23!!

        WHERE is it???

        • What are you talking about?

          No one understands you.

Why are you negging the deal?

  • Is this only available for new purchases through Samsung directly?

    • I've used it twice and was great both times, arrived next day and had two weeks to swap it out.

    • Maybe Gerry H. has the contract?

      • +1

My cat's breath smells like cat food

  • +1

Registered but there is no confirmation email received, is this normal?

    • I haven't received anything yet

  • Wondering if the Single -1 vote on this deal is by the same guy who gave -1 on @TheLurker deal last year ?

    • +1

      His post history is hilarious/sad

  • -1

Wondering why my deal 2years ago got only 27 votes and in upcoming years they got nearly 200 upvotes ? @scotty

    • S Series probably going to attract more than Fold.

  • +5
