  • The 1.5TB for ~$128 shipped is an even better deal. I grabbed one last Friday.

  • Weird, clicking the link takes me to the 1.5TB. It is the better deal, half as much storage again for 25% more dollars.

  • I guess 1.5TB is a better deal, if you are willing to spend another $30. I have mentioned that above as well now.

  • With amazon saying there is a new model of the product, were there actually any changes?

EDIT: Actually they won't ship the new model here anyway.

  • What's the difference between this and the Seagate expansion drive? They are the same price on Amazon. The freeagent drive is 49000rpm, not sure what expansion drives are rated at.

    • +1

This is a portable drive (2.5") that runs off usb power only, the expansion drives are larger (3.5") and require an external power source.

Portable drives such as this are usually a slower RPM drive making them less power hungry which is why they can run from 5V 500mA USB power.

      The freeagent drive is 49000rpm

49000 RPM would be impressive. Noisy and hot, but impressive :)

      • There are 2.5" Seagate Expansions as well, those are the drives he is referring to. I looked into it and couldn't really find any documented details about their differences. The Ultra Portable is slightly smaller than the Expansion though and the UP also uses the upgrade kits which might appeal to you.

        Edit: Expansion Portable - http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Portable-External-ST…

        • Indeed they do, I had never noticed them before.

In this case, I'd probably take an expansion portable over any goflex, have heard too many things about shoddy connections with goflex devices.

  • Jeez. The WD 2TB MyPassport drive is physically smaller than these! Was thinking of jumping ship and going for 2 of these thinking I could squeeze two of them into a stretchy pouch my current WD fits into. Oh wells :(

  • If you want one, buy it now. Usually, their bargained stocks are going very fast!!!

  • i got the message "This item can't be shipped to your selected destination". Tried the WD Portable 3.0 1TB $99, won't ship to OZ too. Anyone having this issue.

    • i've tried it and it worked fine. Maybe you have also put something else in the cart.

    • Are you trying to ship to a PO box?

  • i was trying to purchase both the WD USB3.0 1.5TB + seagate. once i removed the WD from cart, it worked fine. thankq for comments 'fchis' & 'foobar'

    • cheers :)

    • This one won't ship to Australia.

  • Brought the goflex 1.5tb, not bad for $130 delivered!

  • $127.43 USD for the 1.5TB now…
