Not a bad price for these, considering the 5 year warranty, most drives only have 3 years.

  • Price for the HDD is showing as $476.50 for me.
If I add the calendar to the order it just adds to the total. I'm unable to see the discount.

      discount shows at checkout

      • Oh yep, I see.
        Cheers.

I'd suggest adding that to the deal description.

      • Hmmm, I could not see the discount after adding in both the HDD and the Calendar. Total was about AU$490 for me.

Wait for GB if you can. This is basically double what I paid and it’s for iron wolfs not exos

    • Where do you typically find info for GB?
Sorry for my ignorance but iron wolf vs exos for a NAS, is it worth going th exos?

      • +2

Usually in the Classified section. The previous GB: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/736571
You can join the discord server or EOI form for the next GB info. Both can be found in the previous GB post.

    • You paid around $235 for 18TB Exos?

      • Nope, that was my mistake, genuinely saw 16TB. Late posting was a mistake

    • Wasn’t the group buy for 338, pretty far from double? Also this has 2 years extra warranty and you deal with amazon which probably has a lower chance of going bust than east digital for the warranty. Plus amazon has 5% off gift cards pretty frequently.

      • +2

Where can i get amazon 5% gcs

        • There's been quite a few sales from gift card vendors. The last one I jumped in on was this. Quite a few heavy amazon users have picked up 1-2k or more.

      • This is why me late night posting is a bad idea, I saw 16TB. Lower chance of going bust yes but disgustingly higher chance that they will be DOA or die earlier due to garbage packaging 😅

Will leave my above post up for posterity

    • Wait for GB? what do you mean?

      • +5

GB refers to the hard drive "Group Buy", you may find more info here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/736571
(@Kazusa Not mean to hijack your deal post, just try to answer questions here. Hope it's ok with you. p.s. I've upvoted your deal :) )

Thanks.. when will the next GB be? I'm really interested in 2x18TB.. maybe even 4x18TB if the price is right..

          • +1

@bchliu: The last GB had closed in end of Nov, and all orders settled last week.
The next GB has yet to be determined, Likely mid-year, depends if I have spare time to organise another one.

That's why I set up the discord server and EOI form…..I will let everyone know when the next one is coming.

Got these last month. Had to return both. 1 had disk errors after scan. Both would freeze while copying data. Disk would go into sleep mode and then reboot while copying at super slow speeds. 1 disk also reformatted itself. Took a chance on Seagate after years of only buying WD. Bad mistake!

    • +2

Did you buy from Amazon? My experience is their packaging for bare drives is atrocious offering no protection.

      • Yeah from Amazon, packaging was good and snug in their own individual boxes inside and well padded. More Seagate's quality control. Im guessing theres a reason why theyre selling for much cheaper. Every Seagate I've had has failed. My lone one left an older ironwolf has started making strange noises for the last while as well. Only had one WD fail after years and it was just a portable one. Never an internal drive. Was wary choosing Seagate but its been ages so thought they had improved. I guess not

    • +2

I've had a lot of problems with Seagate in the last decade and much more success with WD

I Purchased 4 x 8TB Ironwolfs From The Last Deal On Amazon AU, They Shipped 2 Drives In 1 A Lightly Padded Bag & 2 Other's Each In A Padded Bag, No Other Protection Or Additional Packing, Sent By Amazon US, So I Sent Them Streight Back For A Credit

  • how do these compare with WD Red Pros? for a NAS / Plex server
I was eyeing off https://www.amazon.com.au/Western-Digital-16TB-Internal-Driv… which are smaller, but similar raw price.
