Thats seems a lot. Even after the discount.

    • Except when the company buys for you, hahaha. Really good tool though.

    • Have you ever had to do a large number of rivets with a manually operated riveter?

If you're doing rivets in large quantities you'd definitely want one.

These are mega expensive, have wanted something like this as I use pops on so much stuff here and the concertina thing I have can clamp and pinch ya hands all the time.

      These are normally $999

      • That’s the 4.8mm version not the 6.4mm

    Riveting deal

I want one but the cost for rivet guns are so high. A hand tool can be bought for a few percent of a powered one. Can't justify the purchase atm.

  • I want one but rarely need to use it to justify it.

  • any ebooks for DIY piercing to go with this?

    • +2

Books are for amateurs. Just do it.

    • Nah, heavy goubrnment rergulations exists

  • hmm. i use a manual gun that i got for <$20 from bunnings. this seems pretty hard to justify for DIY use - cant think where/when you'd be doing so many that it warrants this🤔

    • These are worth every cent when you need to do thousands of steel rivets especially 4.8mm like we had to on a job. I know a few commercial roofing plumbers and they all use the smaller / cheaper / lighter 12v Milwaukee. This is a great deal but definitly a niche market and not for DIY unless you have money to burn.

You mean, when you building a A380?

        • Hahaha. Unfortunately in our case it was cladding train stations.

I bought one of those riveter drill attachments for about $100 from Bunnings. Works a treat for larger jobs and so much easier than the manual tool. I'm sure the Makita tool would be better, but really hard to justify that price. Of course, I still want it, but the bank account said NO.

  • Great price for a highly specific tool. We use plenty of rivets at work doing school maintenance, putting in 4.8mm stainless steel rivets for doors is no joke, hurts the hands something fierce after just a few.
I bought a Milwaukee M12 rivet gun and it's amazing, couldn't justify the $1000+ price tag this usually goes for but would go for $700 if I was doing more stainless rivets on a regular basis

  • It's crazy how much more these specialised tools cost than say a drill.
However this doesn't mean that specailised tools are overpriced, it's just a testament to how much economies of scale are able to drive down prices for ubiquitous power tools.

  • AEG version which does up to 4.8mm rivets (so not 6.0 or 6.4 like the Makita) is “only” $329 RRP / $312 PP
