    5800X3D deals where :(

    • +2

Waiting for reviews on the 7800X3D etc before deciding.

      • Yeah, they do look good on paper. I wish there were more high end mATX options though, hopefully some can be released/announced soon along with the new X3D lineup.

        • I'm looking to get a mITX for my Fractal Torrent build and the options are priced crap at the moment.

Same… its the highest level my MOBO will take :(

      December.

$559 was cheapest recently (scorptec and others). I decided to grab one and keep my AM4 system for next 3-4yrs, hopefully ride out inflation without upgraditis setting in again lol

      • I got an RTX 3090 yesterday for $1100 from MetroCom, used with warranty until Q2 2024, there was only 3 in stock I think so I couldn't post the deal to OzBargain.

I have a 5800X and will be gaming at 4K, so I think I am set for the next 3 to 4 years too. I might upgrade to the 5800X3D down the line, but kind of hoping (and I know it won't happen), for AMD to release a 5900X3D in the future.

        • +2

The 5800X is not going to last 3 to 4 years. I am gaming at 4K and the 8700K is showing its age in Cyberpunk, Need for Speed Unbound etc.

          • +1

@PlushToys: Considering I game at 4K 60FPS, I think it will be mostly fine, not pushing for higher refresh rates right now. But as I said, I plan to buy the 5800X3D in the future anyway, which should definitely be enough with a 3090 for the next 3 to 4 years. 4K + DLSS, but future titles I will likely have to turn off Ray Tracing, as the 3090 will be outdated in terms of its Ray Tracing ability in a couple of years.

            • +1

@ThatsCheap: Fair enough. Yeah I am using a 4K 144hz panel and the CPU usage leaves a lot to be desired.

              • @PlushToys: Oh 100% I think for that you're better off waiting for next generation anyway, as even the 4090 IMO is kind of disappointing in its Ray Tracing performance. Although I do love frame generation of DLSS 3.0, I wish that was coming to the 3xxx series of GPUs, but apparently it's hardware limited to the 4000 series.

              • +1

@PlushToys: 4K relies on GPU not CPU usage, what are you on about?

          • @PlushToys: That's strange. I would think at 4k you would be gpu bound and not bottlenecking the cpu with an 8700k. I have a 5 year old 8600k @ 5ghz and run a rtx3080 in my system. At 1440p I get 165fps of my panel in all games without dropping the settings too much.. Besides, those are both demanding/new single player games and the only demanding multiplayer title I came across recently was the new battlefield and that's not even that bad. I have to disagree especially if you play mostly multiplayer games. The 5800x would be heaps for a gamer. My cpu has lasted me 5 years and I'm in no rush to upgrade yet. The only question I have with AMD is their reliability. With all the 3600's dying recently, and the bad gpu's 6000 and 7000 series, I would be considering Intel for reliability. You could get the 13600kf for a few extra bucks?

      • $549 now at mwave

    • -1

      You guys hodl'd too long…
Should've jumped on the 5800X3D once it hit $499. I was honestly surprised it dropped below $500 given how well it's sold.

Now, it's like the AMD 6000 GPUs; stock has sold off so prices haven't dropped for 1-2 months, and 7000 series is out. I'm partially kicking myself for not grabbing a $910 6900XT, but I can wait for another few months as my 2070S is still meeting my needs.

No point in getting a 5800x when the 5700x is basically the same performance at a lower cost and better efficiency

    • +2

      Its the X3D…
      No, I've gone blind.

  • Is this worth upgrading to from a 3700x?

    • +5

      Personally dont think so.

Better save up for a complete upgrade into ryzen 7000/13th gen or go with a 5800x3d deal if staying on am4.

    • I have the same cpu 3700x and was thinking the same but want the 5800x3d but way to expensive think ill put the cash away and wait and get the 7800x3d

    • +1

No. The 5800x3d would be, but not this.

    • Only if you have the use case.

    • +1

I went from a 3700X to a 5700X .. my power usage went form 74w to 55w and my FPS is around 20% higher in everything so i would say its worth upgrading to a 5700X for the power usage drop alone.

    • +1

No it isnt, dont fomo yourself into buying an useless upgrade

just move to DDR5 gen at once maybe end of the year.

  • +5

cheaper on ebay through the 22% off. $350

Yeah cheaper via eBay from Australian stores using 22/20%

Or just get a 5700x locally significantly cheaper surely..

Gotta neg this one, bad deal all round really.

can you not see with your eye balls in headspace two comments above? ^^^^^^^^

          • +1

            @seabass: Lol, they're asking about the 5700x.

        • +1

Well, on Amazon it's 60 dollars cheaper, which is what I'd go for. But its been lower than that obviously.

        • +1

You'd likely find it at about $300 locally. It was $299 on Amazon on the 9th. Current item is from Amazon US.

Looks to be OOS on eBay.

Check staticice.com.au to compare prices from local retailers. If you need it now, you'd be looking at about $330ish from a local seller.

        • I got one from scorptec ebay for $296 using the $20 spend and save coupon. But yeah back up to $336 now. I had a feeling promo stock was starting to sell out as stores were gradually reverting to ~$350

    • This. Currently cheaper locally.

  • X is the hot power hungry one right?

    • You can set what temperature you want it to run at in bios..

  • -2

Can I run 2 of these in SLI?

    • -1

These are eight cores so you will need sixteen in SLI…

      • Nice. Ordered two.

  • +3

    Amazon UK

Be prepared for them to sit on this for weeks before even shipping it out

    • +3

    • mines arriving thursday ordered mine the 28th

  • You get the same gaming performance with the 5700x and with Precision Boost Overdrive plus a small undervolt you get around 95% of the multithreaded performance of the 5800x.
