    I have one of these and a V8 Absolute Plus. V8 is definitely worth the extra $100 even without the extra attachments that come with the absolute plus model.

        The head design on the V8 seems better, as it cleans up the corners better. Suction is probably similar, but V8 seems to have better battery life (but it's also newer). Biggest difference is in the noise V8 is quieter and has HEPA filter.

          @eek: I have not follow the models closely, but as far as I understand, they both use Motorbar™ Cleaner head, and V7 has HEPA filter too. CMIIW.

          @eek: V7 Advanced and Advanced Origin are essentially V8 units, they have the V8 motor (15% more suction than old V7) and 40 min battery (on low). FYI @O O they do not have HEPA filters, however they achieve the overall filtration that a HEPA filter would with the mesh filter, cyclones etc. You'll know if a Dyson has a HEPA filter if it's cyan, that's the colour they use to note the difference

          Personal opinion, not trying to make a claim on behalf of or representing Dyson but I believe that Dyson didn't want to sell V8 units at prices that risk devaluing the standard SKU, so changed the name arbitrarily.

  I heard v6 and v7 model been discontinued by Dyson, so technical support / replacement might be hard to get

    v6 is discontinued quite some time. most v7 and v8's accesories are interchagable, and both v7 and v8 ist still in production.

    This is partly true, the V7 advanced models are essentially V8s - I believe head office didn't want to devalue the V8 standard SKU so named these models V7 Advanced XYZ
