  • Any audiophiles / gifted amateurs know if the Q Acoustics Q3010i would be suitable as high front speakers to add to a paradigm 7.1 system to more surround using denon amp?
I haven’t thought about this for ages and am out of practice with all things audio

    • +1

If your amp supports 7.2.2 for 7 surround, LCR, side LR, rear LR, and atmos LR these will work. I've got old Dali concept 2 as front heights to my Polk surround.

Generally best to stick to matching speaker series but it'll Def work well.

I have a pair of the 3000 series bookshelf speakers (can't remember which model) and a pair of the in ceiling speakers and I love them both. I have a denon av receiver driving the bookshelf speakers, along with a centre speaker, and a cheap amp from Amazon driving the ceiling speakers. I totally recommend these speakers!

  • Wow. Great prices. You can build a great home theatre at a reasonable price with these.

    • with working from home i spend more time at desk and a PC ….. nice music between meetings is what i’m after ….. i spend more hours in front of the PC than the TV …. but the
PC market seems to be flooded with 4” speakers …. in the sub $200 range …. these q3030 look nice though ……

      • Find a cheap amp for pc-amp-these speakers.

You'll likely have a better sound than most "pc speakers". It'll cost a bit more and have that extra box and cables for the amp but it's what I'd do for better audio.

That said, ozb love the Edifier range of powered speakers that often pop up under the $200(?) range from memory.

User garage sale mentions a bit below about them too, I agree there! Powered amps do run hotter if pushed a little, separate amp the way to go imo.

Great speakers for a small to medium sized room , like apartment.
Pair with a decent a/v or amp and you’ll be good!

    • Any recommendations for a cheap decent amp to go with the 3020/3030?

  • Quality speakers, love mine. Have some 2010s and 3010s with sub in my apartment, driving them from a couple of SMSL Q5 Pro amps.

  • +1

I started out with the 3050's and i now have the Q accoustic Concept 500s and the QB12 subwoofer what an incredible sound system.

Highly recommend Q accoustic stuff. A lot of performance for the money. But remember your room is going to influence the sound more then anything, so some room treatment might be in order to really appreciate.

  • Graphite Grey or black ?

  • Anyone know if the walnut version is vinyl wrap or timber veneer?

    • It's vinyl wrap.

  • Any recommendation for a budget AV receiver than is rated to handle 4 ohm speakers?

    • +1

4 ohm, 8 ohm ….amps will drive both ….difference is power rating at 4 ohms as the amp can deliver more current for same voltage vs 8 ohms ….. have been toying with the idea of those little class D amps for the PC , get cheaper passive speakers instead of KRK actives ….

    • +3

Onkyo TX SR494 and Pioneer VSX834 can run 4 Ohm. There is a setting in the menu for either 4 ohm or 6 ohm and above. Both are 7.2 so can run a 5.2.2 atmos setup.

I you only want 5.1 the TX SR393 and the VX534 can also run 4 ohm. Both can be had for $475 at the moment.

Klapp AV have the SR494 for $665 and Rio Sound and Vision have the VX834 for $675 with an extra 10% off on your first order.

Most of the other brands are probably 4 ohm stable with the exception of Sony's budget amps.

      • Thanks for the quick reply! I'll look into all of them. Was videopro your source for the $475 393 / 534?

        • +1

No problem, happy to help. Yes Videopro was the best price that I saw.

  • The 5.1 packs are discounted too, I haven't worked out if it's cheaper than buying the components:

EDIT: it's exactly the same price to get the pack or buy the components individually

    $1,306.20

  • How do they compare with Edifier S2000MKIII in regard of sound quality only, regardless of powered and non-powered difference?

    • +2

down side with the edifer is the amp for both speakers is in the one enclosure …. will run hot which i found with some actives i had, was going to add heatsink but lost interest as they were only 4” … a small class d amp, under $100 means no heat in the enclosure if using passive speakers ….or KRK approach an amp in each enclosure so runs cooler if going active.

    • +1

There's a review on that page comparing it to logitech z623 and he found they sounded same and couldn't tell them apart on movies in a large room.
I've owned $400 logitech speakers and other than lacking the sub they were no where near as good as my first bookshelf speakers Pioneer SP-BS22-LR.
My current Elac B5.2 are miles better than the Pioneers so the Q3000 series which appear to be on similar level would be heaps better sound quality wise.

  • I've had a QA set up for around 5yrs now, 3020 fronts, 3090C and 3010's for rear and heights. Also have an SVS sub.

I was tempted to upgrade the 3020's to the 3030i's but heard the improvement will be minimal as I already have a sub.

    Any suggestions?

    • depends if you are after improvement in frequency, or speaker size so that you get more presence / ambience ?

    • +2

      Not worth it.

If you’re going to spend more money it would be to move to another level of speaker performance.

      • Thanks, will save my money then. ;-)

I don't listen to music, mainly for gaming and the occasional movie.

    • Not really worth it tbh.

Unless you seem your current ones so these newer ones cost you couple hundred, see how you go.

New stuff is nice though haha! But the performance improvement will be minimal.

If you have space get some floor speakers, those these cost more, these are discounted ATM too:

      https://addictedtoaudio.com.au/collections/q-acoustics/produ…

      • +1

Thanks, I don't have the space for floor standing speakers.

    • 3010 good as rear speakers? Or should I go for the 3020?

  • -1

Are these passive or active speakers?

  • I have 6 3010's and 2 x Yamaha subs hooked up to an Onkyo 7.2 receiver. 2 or the speakers are wall mounted high up for atmos (limited by what i can do for Atmos)

They really are great speakers AND so compact in size. I do not regret buying these for a single second. I got lucky and paid about $180 each on clearance on ebay about 4 years ago.

    • Yeah the 3010's and 3020's are awesome speakers for the price at the time, then the new models shot up in price (all audio equipment did).

  • -1

i have a smsl ho100 headphone amp, will it be able to power these?

    • Are they headphones?

  • I have the 3030i and I love it. I have many different speakers including 2 sets of 30k speakers but the 3030i is amazing for its price.

  • This DAC/AMP would work well with these:

    https://addictedtoaudio.com.au/collections/integrated-amplif…

  • Does anyone know when this sale ends? Need to do a bit of research before pulling the trigger.

Looking to use as PC speakers mainly for music via Tidal through optical out.

Listen to a fair amount of electronic music so seems a sub pairing goes well.

    Anyone have opinions on:

    3020i + sub
    3030i + sub

    Thanks

  • +2

Shame there's no sale on their Concept range. Q Acoustics make some very good speakers, and people starting out should be very happy with any of this range.

  • -3

    Gold lined?

  • -3

    Are these RTX?
How do they compare with a 3070 Ti?

  • Pretty good speakers, would personally pick up a Pair of 3030s and a subwoofer if you don’t have a speaker setup.
    Get your amp off aliexpress

    • I have one of the TPA3116 boards in my arcade cab, works great with a few modifications.

  • For those asking how they compare to XYZ brand of Amazon active speaker, both the 3010i and 3050i home cinema speaker sets are WhatHi? Best Buys and have been for a number of years.

    Q Acoustics 3010i 5.1 Cinema Pack review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Q Acoustics' 3010i bookshelf speakers form the basis of this beautifully balanced speaker package.

  • Assume these would be a decent upgrade on my old Klipsch Quintet III which I’m currently running in a 3.0 config for my second TV.

  • Now waiting for the amplifier deal.

  • Looking at the Q Acoustics Q 3050i 5.1 Plus Cinema Pack for my new house. I were to purchase this, what else would I need to purchase to complete the set up? A receiver/amp - any suggestions? Thanks.

    • Receiver. But which one depends on your needs.

      Need 4K? Need 120hz? Need Dolby Vision/HDR10/HDR10+?

      • Ideally to pair with a Panasonic UB820 for 4K DV. I also have a LG OLED C2.

        • +1

          So no gaming?

          https://www.westcoasthifi.com.au/shop/av-receivers/multi-cha…

Pretty much anything new will do.

Edit for clarity: I haven't researched the Pioneer at all. I just picked the cheapest brand new receiver I could find to show that it supports Dolby Vision at 4k. If that's all you are interested in, you have many choices. The Yamaha Mexay recommended would be a good place to start.

    • I have the Yamaha RX-V4A. Bloody good system. Better than the equivalent Denon if you care about smartphone stuff. Does 5.1, but not 7.1, so if you want that you need to go the model up.

      Does HDMI 2.1 for 4k 120hz, etc.

Beyond that, you're looking at $1000+ for something better IMO.

      • Thanks mate, I'll give it a look.

  • Thanks op. Been umming and ahhing about a few different bookshelf speakers after buying a chi-fi amp. Guess it's the 3030i's for me because bargain

  • Great speakers. I'm running a simple 3.1 with 3010's as fronts and the 3090 centre, no issues with volume when you crank it up. I considered the 3020 as fronts but as I don't listen to music the 3010's do just fine, with the centre doing most of the work.

Solidly built too with fantastic WAF.. the significant other is bound to approve.

  • +1

Considering grabbing the 3010is too for rear speakers.

    Is this worth doing?

It'd be 3030 for the front, 3090 for the centre and 3010 for the rears?

  • Have been looking for Concept 30s as an upgrade from my Jamo floorstanders. Was hoping they might be part of the same deal but think they've gone up in price since I last looked! lol.

Oh well. Might get the 3030i for fronts and 3010i rears instead as this is an excellent deal and difficult to pass up. Thanks OP
