HDMI Cable V1.4 Full HD with Ethernet, 1m @ $1.50, 1.5m @ $1.90, 2m @ $2.23

582

The prices has changed yet again :( as of 2012-07-20 5:30am:
1m @ $2.75
1.5m @ $3.20
2m @ $4.05

This will be my last update.
I'll be careful about posting ebay deal in the future. It seems common practice for ebay sellers to change "buy now" price depending on the level of interest at the time. It's too much effort to keep tab of when they are decided to do so.

========================================================

I searched for a 1m HDMI cable and found the deal on here is expired so I searched ebay and came across this promotional deal that is supposed to end tomorrow Fri at 2pm. I ended up getting a few just in case :) Stocks are supposed to be in Melbourne so hopefully won't take long for delivery.

  • Very cheap. Would buy but I got too many already.

    • haha, me too. Got 4 for that just in case moment. Keep buying them each time I see them ozbargain going cheap.

  • +4

Whoa… bad feedback on eBay for not delivering [drum roll please] HDMI cables!

    • +2

They've still got ~99% positive feedback, and for ~$2 I reckon it'd be worth the risk. Personally I've still got 2 cables lying around from the last time I saw a special on OzBargain, so I don't need any more…

    • +2

a lot of those negative feedbacks are actually from people saying they never got thier cable…

      • Yup, I won't be buying it, not worth the trouble of contacting paypal if I don't get the items.

    • I've got updated from ebay that my orders are marked as posted last night. I'll update when I receive the actual cables.

      • I've received all my cables today, I ordered quite a few too. Nothing to worry

  • Thank you, bought 2. I wonder if there is much difference in image quality between buying a $1.50 one and a $150.00 one? Still can't justify buying a $150 one though.

    • +3

Absolutely no difference when it comes to a digital signal, unless you start getting to the 10m+ mark.

      • I'm using 10m flat ones for my ht. They can still output 3D with master audio fine. Mostly depends on the quiality of the cable. These were the flat purple ones from DX, around $25 at the time of purchase

      • Every time I walk into an electronic retailer and the smug salesperson lectures me about why I need to spend 10x more for some routine item it reminds me why I never took a job in one of these shady joints.

Gizmodo had a few articles about the HDMI scam:

This one makes you angry - http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2012/01/is-harvey-norman-misleadin…

This one makes you laugh - http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2010/04/the-great-cable-rip-off-fo…

This line pretty much sums it up - "Would you rather feed 500 starving children or be a douche nozzle?"

You get what you pay for until a point - anything beyond that point is punishment for being naive or ill-informed.

  • Got the 1.5m one. Hope he delivers :) Thanks OP

  • Bought a couple of things. Doesn't matter if it doesn't arrive, it's only a couple of clicks to get my money back.
    Totally worth the risk IMO.

  • Cables are so bad, there choppy, constant have to unplug and plug back in to re hand shake, ABSOULTE CRAP HDMI CABLES

  • The 1.5M HDMI shows $2.3 not $1.9???

    • Now $2.50. All the prices are going up

  • Just bought the 1.5m for $2.50. cheers :D

  • +2

That's a bit sneaky of them, the 2m is now $3.37. :( Well, those ebay sellers don't seem to have the ethical of the shop front stores. Just like the bicycle deal on here before, as soon as they sensed there's some interest in the item, the price go up. But then when people stop buying the price goes back down pretty quick. So people, you can vote with your feet. However, 2m @ $3.37 is still cheaper than the recent deal on here.

  • +2

    $2.10 for 1m

Was going to complain but hey, it's 60c who cares.

  • Probably best to change title to reflect updated prices

  • -2

Current advertised deal expired. Price has changed so please list this deal as now expired.

    • In future, you should just report to a moderator, not negative vote.

      • -4

Will do in future. However, check the previous comments and times. This issue had been sitting unaddressed by poster (and/or moderator) for over 3 hours.

And, poster has just raised prices yet again so it would have been/is unacceptable to keep changing prices in post every few hours. This is not a deal it is a milking scheme. The positive votes given were not given to the current deal on offer and should be removed. Or should we now accept this milking scheme as acceptable practice on ozbargain?

        • -4

Agreed. Neg for the deal maker not honouring their promised deal, i.e. the ebay listing promised the "OFFER ENDS FRIDAY 20TH @ 2pm. "

        • +3

rifter, get off your high horse. There are plenty of deals that have a discounted price at limited quantities. Yes, those deals still belong on OzBargain, and no, the positive votes shouldn't be removed now that that deal has expired.

        • CarbonTwelve, lay off the false accusations. He didn't say positive votes should be removed.

There's no issue with limited quantities. The issue is the false advertising. The seller advertised it was available for a certain time. When they say they had heaps of demand, they upped the price to take advantage and didn't meet what they advertised. They still had stock, so limited quantities isn't even an issue.

    • I think you need to understand the reasons for negging. Because clearly right now you have absolutely no clue.

  • Just a warning that these cables are really stiff and are difficult to bend around small places.

  • Got this diamond cable http://www.bestbuy.com/site/AudioQuest+-+Diamond+3.3'+High-S… and I never looked at other HDMI cables the same way again …

    • Good find. But since it's from Best Buy in the US I'd have to pay someone to send it over and then pay duty and GST since it's over $1000 AUD. I think I'll wait…

I love the comments of reviewers for this item on Best Buy :)

      • My father was design architect for the best buy website for the US. Still works on like a consultancy basis with them so we can get anything from them shipped to oz for free :)

    • 1m @ $1,095.99. What can I say? Yep, love the comments not sure if any of them actually own one. :)

  • Anyone know when this deal will come back up? =/

    • See my update at the top. The best value for now is the 1.5m cable at $2.75, or 1m @ $2.20.

    • still there..

  • Got my 1m cable today, wish I'd bought 2. Passes the "washing machine interference" test, hence will keep kids happier on Saturday mornings = Bargain at any price.

  • Got my two 2M's today, saving for a rainy day : )
