Many alerts and warnings from previous deals.
Also beware your personal information security as trading operation is also in phillipines (undisclosed) and india

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/46868/101027/screensho…

    • never received the $99 cashback offer via shopback.

  • T&Cs Applied

    Where were they applied ?

  • Gift Cards are valid for 3 months from the issue date

Aren't they required to be valid for at least 3 years under Australian Consumer law?

    • +1

Apparently this was chosen by ecconnex with their agreement with woolworths from previous deal comments . Dodgy AF

      • I can confirm they are only 3 months. I received mine a few weeks ago and they have an expiry date of April 2023

        • The other issue is they won't tell you when they are going to send them (except "90 to 120 days after sign up").
Many people will forget about them / forget they expire / send straight to trash.
The actual payout will be much lower.

    • +5

      Not always.

Gift cards are usually required to have a minimum three year validity period, but there are exclusions to this requirement.

If you look at the relevant ACCC page:

Gift cards must be valid for at least 3 years

Gift cards purchased on or after 1 November 2019 must be redeemable for at least 3 years after the day they were supplied or purchased.

The 3-year rule does not apply to gift cards that are:

      • able to be reloaded or topped up
      • donated for promotional purposes. For example, a business handing out $15 vouchers to passers-by for its grand opening.
      • available only for a specified period. For example, performance of a visiting ballet company.
supplied at a genuine discount. For example, $60 card for a massage valued at $100.
part of an employee reward scheme
      • part of a customer loyalty program
      • second-hand gift cards
      • part of a temporary marketing promotion. For example, customers buy a certain product from Business A, which provides a $50 voucher to use at Business B.
      • supplied to certain charities or government agencies.

This deal is a temporary marketing promotion, and therefore the three year validity requirement does not apply. However, it does not take away from the fact that I believe:

      • The OP should have explicitly called the shorter expiry period in the deal post itself, and

      • The OP should call the gift card in the deal title a Woolworths Bonus Store eGift Card, not Woolworths eGift Card (because all bonus store gift cards issued by Woolworths Group have short validity periods, but regular Woolworths eGift Cards do not have an expiry date at all), and

      • The gift card should have a longer expiry than three months.

      • +2

OP should have explicitly called the shorter expiry period in the deal post itself

Not if they want to mislead you…

      • This is the reason for my neg.

They can shove this offer up their ass.

Imho they also run a similar promotion often enough that calling it a temporary promotion is a blatant lie.

    Scam!! DO NOT PROCEED! Scam!!

  • +1

Switched but no credits given form previous post.

    • Dev Gill, kindly share your reference number in order to track your application.

  • Scam it seems. Negging as a result

  • +4

Those saying scam probably didn’t follow the steps or use their cards in 3 months. I received mine in the timeframe and saved on my shopping. Also the switch was super easy and I’m still happy with Superloop.
$100 plus discounted internet is amazing!

    • It's a scam because while they offer 'certain cheaper retailers' under the promotion, when you go thru the process of searching for the 'best deal' it will only give you the MORE expensive providers as the only options to switch too to redeem the "offer".. therefore, this is a complete waste of time and all they are is a bunch of ClickBAIT er's that should be banned by the ACCC.

They will only sign-up gullible people thinking they are getting free gift card but really, they are getting shafted on a much more expensive deal to get the gift card so it's not really a deal. And that's if you get the gift card..

Best to stick with Governments Compare web sites and identify the cheapest retailers. Do not waste your time with this mob trying to seduce you with a 'gift card' that you may or may not receive for the pleasure of signing up with their overpriced affiliates.

P.S. this is based on Energy products not Internet. Internet could be different experience.

      • In my experience this is false.
But of course, do your research before changing providers.

Same discounted 6 month rate sold direct by Exetel was also available on Econnex with Gift Card as a bonus. (yes I got them and used them)

and then again recently same Energy Australia rate deal (the best I could find on the "energymadeeasy" site for our usage/generation after plugging numbers into a spreadsheet to calculate actual costs. Noting that the energymadeeasy site rankings do not reflect reality even when you provide 12 months of usage info, but is a good way to narrow down the best options at least.) was also available on Econnex. (Shopback- via Econnex - still pending on this one)

        • This isnt for NBN, only Exetel.

Im talking about Energy. I just did this and it came back with only 3 retailer (expensive ones) and I live in Melbourne not some rural area. I agree, DYOR but heads up its very dodgy and please use the government website to find out if the plans they give you are infact a 'GOOD DEAL' to be worth switching or not.

      • +2

I haven't even given $200 to the provider I signed up with for gas and electricity, but have received my $200 in gift cards. It sure feels good to get scammed. Anyway, hoping I can repeat the process now and every few months, just waiting to confirm.

  • I used Econnex a while back (last year?) and had mixed results. I used them to switch gas + electricity to Momentum.

Gas went flawlessly. Electricity took another 2 months - the retailer never received the request for power, then EConnex said "call them back, we did", retailer said no, econnex "leave it with us"… I sent several more emails and it eventually went through. Both rewards eventually received.

It looks like other ozbargainers others had issues but it sounds like all "cashback" services (Shopback, Cashrewards..) are not 100% reliable. Treat Econnex like those: it may not go through, you may have to yell a bit, and there's definitely risk since you're sharing your info (but I think most of it is already known after Medibank, Optus, … )

  • Is there a waiting period to receive the voucher

    • I'm still waiting on my voucher and it's been almost 4 months now.

      • Yeah did mine in December, said 90 day waiting period at the time

        • i swithed my nbn in september and got the vouchers 2 weeks ago, no issues

      • Hey tman2020, please share your reference number in order to track your application.

I've switched to Exetel and have been very happy.

Received my gift card exactly 3 months later and internet is cheaper and better service than before (belong).

    P.S. I am not a crackpot

  • Hi OP, is cashrewards cashback on top of the voucher?

    • Hey U30004, unfortunately, this offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other corporate offer or discount.

  • +2

I switched to Exetel last July/August when they had this deal. Was still able to get the normal Exetel 6 month discount price and got the gift card 2 months after connection. I've already got enough spam calls prior that my phone auto blocks so IDGAF who has my details anymore 😂

I think a lot of people might have accidentally deleted their voucher emails as it looks to be the really generic spam "You've received a voucher" email.

    • I second that. I received my vouchers and thought it was a spam email.

      • I was reaaaally hesitant about clicking the link to open it incase it was a virus but took a chance haha

  • Thanks OP!

  • If I've recently received my gift cards from a previous offer am I right to go again with gas and electricity?

    • +1

I think it may be 6 month waiting period?

      • +1

Had another look at the t&c and it's 60 days.
