    FYI.
Cancellation can only be done via email only. So assuming no option on protal.

" We have no lock in contracts, we just require one month’s notice.
You can reach out at support@arctel.com.au for more information. Please note we can not cancel services over the phone."

    • +15

Ah the 30 day notice would be a turn off in that case. :/

      • Also, asked rep from last deal if Portal is now up? he said would be coming shortly last month.
maybe someone with them can confirm/.

        • +3

It's Been up for 3+weeks now not much in it can see Invoices, change card.

      • +1

        Definitely…..someone needs to…arc up….about it

As long as Arctel accepts a 30-day notice period starting from the time the email is sent, this process is likely better than having to go through extra steps to give 30 days notice over the phone.

      • This is correct, notice can be given & will be accepted from the moment you send an email!

        • +1

Do you require this if you're churning or only if you want to cancel your account?

30 day periods are so ridiculous

    • 1000/100 $79.99/M

wow 5 bucks NBN cheaper than opticomm plans i pay 85 a month for this same speeds on FTTP with superloop

  • +11

Great deal. Hate the 30 days cancellation notice so won’t sign up.

    • Just put a reminder in at the 5-month mark, email them to provide 1 month's notice (for a total of 6 months of charges).
I thought the same as you at the beginning, but I'd rather email than call them personally, anyway.
Sign up with a new provider a day or two before the cancellation date. Easy :)

      • Maybe we will give you a roll-over plan at 5 months to stay? We are here to shake up the market, don’t run away before chatting to us first! 🙏🏽

        • +1

Publicly advertising that you have both a lazy tax and deliberate friction on leaving is a brave move

  • What’s the pricing after 6 months?

  • +1

I got the $50 offer, speed was good at start but has dropped recently

    • +1

      Interesting you should say that……
Signed-up from 1 October 500/50 plan (HFC). Cannot get above ~260Mb. Support has been shocking/non-existant. Essentially, I'd better be happy with this max, or else leave them.

      • +1

What device are you speed testing on? Wifi testing? Ethernet? Some devices top out around 250-300 mbps even on Ethernet cable direct to the NBN box, in which case the ISP is not to blame

        • +1

@Davesula Agree 100%. My netgear orbi was like this. would capout at 250ish when on wifi and some switches/pcs have only 100mbps port so they will only register 100mbps. need better wifi router/switch and devices to measure proper speed.

          • +2

@expertreader: Thx. Those are fair points and my previous plan was 50/20 so no challenges there. I've been testing via Ethernet cable only (laptop) with a docking station. The Router is a fairly recent Asus which is capable of 1Gbps. Doing an isolation test to bypass the wi-fi and connect to the NBN box via ethernet also showed poor/variable results (first time hit ~320Mbps) then went down to 200Mbps or less (perhaps due to it being 5Pm?)
Testing Wi-fi from various mobiles right near the access point has them varying around 250Mb max, sometimes well less.

            • +2

@theredrabitt: I believe asus routers have an inbuilt speedtest function on the router admin page — would eliminate most other variables.

              • @snep: Thx. Wasn't aware of that. Interestingly - results varied widely depending upon the source (for Speedtest) - which is not the case for testing on PC. (eg) Selecting Launtel shows speeds over 500Mbps :-) PErhaps ABB/Superloop were around 400 Mb. Others were like 150 Mbps. Huge variance. Cannot repeat those results from an ethernet PC connected to the router. Either way, for $50pm even at 250Mb it's 5x faster than what I had last month. I'll stay for 6 months.

            • @theredrabitt: If your speeds tests are via ethernet with speed capable equipment, that's concerning, might pass in this case.
              No wonder it's so cheap.

      • +1

And yet you didn't neg the deal and I've done it for you given the shocking /non existent service. How should anyone else take note of it if you don't neg it?

      • -1

DM your service ID, happy to escalate. Will post more information, but we have no shaping or traffic profiles in place, so you should be getting the committed speed.

      • If your on wifi, try the 5g band. If your wired. It's probably your modem

    • That definitely should not be the case, can you DM your service ID please?

  • +6

I signed up for Arctel about a month ago on a decent deal too.

So far, have found it extremely up and down in terms of speeds. Sometimes I'm getting > 400 Mbps and other times its been way less than what I've been paying for at < 15 Mbps

I know there are reasons for this based on the technology, but just letting people know

    • FTTP or HFC?

    • +2

Assuming your speed issues aren't due to variations in your own network (e.g. wifi), then more likely they haven't purchased enough bandwidth to cover peak times.

  • I've been on the 1000 turned 500 since the end of August. Haven't really seen experienced any slow downs, and I occasionally run a speed test just for kicks. I normally try and churn pretty often for cashback etc but for $50 a month with CGNAT disabled I think I'll just ride this one out for the 6 months.

    FTTP.

  • seems like a good price

The connection is fast locally, to Asia and the USA.

However to Europe it’s slow as, 200-800ms.
Some of my dodgy tv streams don’t even load and time out, or they stream at 240p rather than 1080p which is the minimum.

While with Superloop I could stream them at 4k without an issue.

    • +1

Europe is far away network-wise on cheap routes. Unless things have changed a lot in the past little while it's cheaper to go Australia-USA-Europe than Australia-Asia-Europe even though the second one is the quicker and shorter route.

      • Yeah wow good insight.
Maybe they do the cheaper route. While SL does the faster route

With arctel currently and cancelled due to horrible latancy in Perth. Would not advise currently if WA based.

Working from home and rdp into work resources cse lagged so much

    • if working from home and claiming usage for work, going with cheapest available is not going to end well. stay with some of the mid tier $75 to $80 range providers and you will have no problems (may be keep churning between them).

    • How bad was it?

      • +1

Not usable personally, 75ms on rdp. Switched to launtel for the day and zero issues

    • Hi Mate, Perth POP will be live in October 2025. We are working on a migration date shortly & will announce!

  • +1

NT based and switched from Superloop to Arctel with the $50 intro deal, ping to Aussie servers went up 10ms but have had zero issues with gaming, streaming, WFH or anything.

Have not properly tested speeds as only on wifi but suspect they're not quite where they should be. Wifi test on 680mbs link standing 1m from router results in regularly hitting 200/46 on a 500/50 plan.

Overall for the price zero complaints.

  • +1

WA based. Recently has few unexplained outages during midnight. One was announced in email, others were not

  • +9

Please please please don't sign up to Arctel. I signed up for 500/40 at my property, which wasn't offered by any other company and when it was hooked up I was barely getting 20/4. They said "oh yeah, you can only have 100/40 at your property, sorry", which I wasn't even achieving close to those speeds.

They then ignored my emails to cancel for a week so that by the time 30 days had elapsed, I would have paid them again for their shitty lying service.

Please do yourself a favour and go literally anywhere else.

    • +2

Do you think you should neg the deal so people read your comment?

    • +1

Take it to the TIO as some of us have already done. ARCTEL are not good to deal with. I was charged $88 for 4 days of substandard use on the so called $50 P/M plan.

      • +2

I still haven’t received a confirmation of cancelation from arctel. They even tried to send me another invoice.
As per the TIO case update, they have few more days to sort issues out before i can ask the TIO to intervene. On a side note, my bank has already approved my dispute and refunded my money.

        • +1

Same + I have the 2 charges for $88 within 3 weeks of each other and have provided this info from ARCTEL and my credit card provider to the TIO. Likewise, they have until Oct 20th to sort out based on the timing the TIO investigations team have indicated. Ball is in ARCTEL's court to resolve…..

Hi, whilst we can’t discuss the individual circumstances for your service publicly, we are aware of limitations of the 500/50 plan (old 100/20) on FTTC/FTTN locations. Unfortunately this is a limitation of the NBN, we apologise for the inconvenience.

      • +2

Why did you sign up customer for this plan if you can't deliver? Should let him to leave without any issues and refund for all period for no delivering the promised speeds.

  • Got an email a couple of weeks back saying my service was going to be routed via Melbourne POP but it's still going via Mungo National Park in NSW of all places. Is there a way to manually force the change to Melbourne?

    • Prob not

    • No, it's controlled at their end. Many of the cheaper providers only have 1 or 2 PoP's. Perhaps they haven't sey up the Melbourne PoP yet.

    • Hi Mate, Melbourne POP is definitely live… shoot your service ID in a DM & will escalate for you!

  • +2

Signed up for a 500 plan, gets under 200. Customer service is non-existent. Was forwarded to someone and ended up in voicemail. The IT support sounded like a boy reading off script, which tells me it's all my fault. Works most of time amd considering the price, can be kept for now.

  • +1

Signed up at $50/mo for NBN 500. I will be churning away from them in a few weeks. Gave my 30 day notice via email and I wanted them to confirm the churn/last bill date.

Service itself is fine. But I want better service/support from a bigger player. You get what you pay for sometimes.

  • On the 500 speed and haven't gotten any issues…yet. Hoping the cancellation process in 5 months or so won't be problematic

    • -2

Who knows, might be an incentive to stay!
