Ninja Ice Cream Maker NC300* for $288 including delivery.

Have kept a close eye on this and now seems like it's the cheapest it's been in a while on Amazon Au.

*Based off comments on the last deal post, you should actually receive the 7 mode version (check out the photos other than the first photo on the listing). Ordered mine already, will find out when it arrives:

Was keen to try this but I'd end up waking up the neighbours at 10PM with the amount of noise this thing makes in the youtube reviews.

    • +12

Pretty sure you can mute YouTube, or at least lower the volume

      • +1

But then the ice cream doesn't taste as good

    • +2

Yes it's loud but I'll wait till the kids are asleep before doing exercise and then spinning the ice cream (sometimes as late as midnight). Despite the noise it's not woken anyone yet.

For context, the ice cream is protein powder with coconut milk and a bit of cream and sweetener so it's literally a protein shake in ice cream form. Total of around 6g carbs and 250cal so perfect for keto or just general calorie restriction.

seems like it's the cheapest it's ever been on Amazon Au

    Nov 06, 2022 was $277.82.

    Close enough

    • Good spot, will update đź‘Ť

  • why not spend a bit more and get an ice cream maker with an actual compressor.

    • +3

This isn't a traditional ice cream maker. Pacojet expired and ninja made a copy.

      • -1

Pacojet was primarily marketed as soft serve (ice cream) and sorbet, both requiring extensive prep and overnight freezing. Think the point is, buying an Ice Cream (gelato) machine with compressor achieves the same results for (Sorbet and IceCream and Gelato) with less hassle. Only real drawback is this machine makes good thick shakes.

        • The creami pints take up little room in a freezer, and don't need to eat all at once.

Aside from making the base to freeze (super quick for sorbet) it takes very little time or effort too.

    • Or less, the Aldi one was $149 with compressor, makes soft serve in around 50mins.

Wouldn't recommend though, as it costs around 4x price of buying Ice Cream.
Main plus is sorbet and ice cream with a lot less sugar and other additives than store bought.

With this unit, you need to prep and freeze overnight and it makes a real racket.

It's really interesting, America's Test Kitchen absolutely hates this thing… but from using it in person it's a really interesting gadget. Anyone got any real world experience to share?

  • +2

    I've got one.
I've had traditional churners before and used to make a lot of gelato from scratch in a restaurant.
I haven't used it much, but I do love it. Yes it is loud, for all of 2-3minutes though.
I've only used it twice to make a honeydew sorbet. End result was great, I feel like it always needs a second spin to ensure smooth consistency.
So much easier than dealing with prefozen bowls or large compressor machines.

    • What are your thoughts on durability? You reckon it'll last two years of casual use or is this thing destined for landfill?

      • I really couldn't comment on it long term use.
I think if your cautious to not have a high water content sorbet or ice cream that would help, I'm sure blending a rock hard block of ice would put more 'wear and tear' on the motor.
But at the end of the day it's just a blender so I don't see why they can't last the long run.

        • +2

Yeah my only concern with picking one up is my other Ninja products have completely shit the bed after some moderate use. Gaskets explode, motors burn out, plastics crack, not a good time.

          • @frowny: It seems most of their products have parts that fail often that aren't covered under warranty so I'd expect this to be the same.

      • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCJsaPefl1c this guy pulled one apart. It seems sufficiently well built for home use.

I've had one of these for about 3-4 months now and use it at least twice a week. I'm an ice-cream addict.

Yes, it's noisy AF. Not something you'd use while people are sleeping. It's probably less noisy than a ninja blender, though it's a higher pitch.

There are heaps of people sharing recipes on YouTube. It's also fun winging your own. The beautiful thing is you can control exactly how many calories you want to consume per tub. Highly recommend if you love experimenting.

  • anyone who's bought this before had these issue before?: https://www.reddit.com/r/ninjacreami/comments/um6o68/plastic…

Was thinking of buying one… but the thought of plastic shavings in icecream…. :S

  • Ours has been used almost daily for about 6 or so months.
No problems. It is noisy though, but only for a couple of minutes.
It takes a bit of experimenting to get the mixture right.
