Nearly paid that much for my 3080 by itself, Nice deals

    • +5

Was just about to say it's nice to see them throw in a free computer with the 3080

      • I'm running a Techfast build, no issues with it

      • +3

Actually looks like a very well specced build. I think buying anything other than the budget partner cards is a waste unless you're getting the best GPU available, since you could use the extra money on a higher tier.

        • -3

You can’t say that when they don’t specify the exact part brand

          • +6

@MuddyClear: I can because partner card have become really consistent in quality, any budget card will be within 2 - 3% top end with simple afterburner OC, RMA is handled by Techfast since it's a prebuilt, and you can always ask them which few cards they choose from.

              • +12

@MuddyClear: No I just don't like people giving false information and making others think PC gaming is more expensive and complicated than it should be. Some of my best childhood memories were gaming on a shitty LGA 771 to 775 conversion with a GTX 650 and $40 case/ psu combo which I built for $150. So it's annoying when someone tries to turn people away from a perfectly fine system.

              • @MuddyClear: Can you just provide some links or videos to prove what you’re stating - would help people make informed decisions

                • -3

@BLB1984: Cheap Chinese allied power supply in a cheap case with a budget motherboard that lacks future proofing. And that’s the tip of the iceberg

                  • +8

@MuddyClear: Ah good old future proofing argument. It’s a fools game in the PC market.

This build will last at least 4 years if looked after i.e. run as stock, no crazy overclocks etc.

My 6700K build is still kicking with 1080p gaming but I am looking to move up to at 1440p gaming now. Seriously looking at this as this saves me quite a bit in terms of costs.

By the time the upgrade is worth it… there will be a completely new platform/socket/RAM standard.

Power supply is easily replaced and even then my no name PSU is still kicking in my P4 Northwood build from yesteryear.

                    • @jlogic: Your 6700k is still a great CPU for 1440p. Could plonk it's brother rx6700 10gb or 6600xt in and insta 1440p gaming on that setup.

                    • +2

@jlogic: 4 years is a bit short for a lifetime of a computer. Some last for a decade or more if appropriate cares are done regularly.

After few years of heavy gaming, it can be recycled by giving to family members or selling as office/low-end gaming tower.

You are right about the PSU, stay well below the wattage and it will be fine. Only get high-end PSU/parts for extreme overclocking.

                      • @toommy: Hahaha the four years is for effective life of a computer as the ATO rules it.

I know computer last longer than that.

My computer upgrade cycle is give or take a year on either side of 7 years.

6700k built 2016 coming up 7 years soon.
                        Q9550 built 2008
                        P4 Willamette 2001

P4 Northwood 2004 for my brother so we could play CS 1.6

              • @MuddyClear:

                Partner cards are rubbish

                Wtf?

              • @MuddyClear: End of conversation? Narcissist much.

      • +3

What a bad opinion, i have been running a 'rubbish' super cheap techfast build for 3 years with no issues ffs

      • +1

My one and only techfast build was dead on arrival.
It was meant to be a Christmas present, and it wasn't fast to get fixed either.

        • -3

Unfortunately it’s a common issue with tech slow. Just stay away

  • +4

What Power Supplies specifically are used here?

    • +1

Power Supply: 550W and 750W: Usually: Allied
80 Plus Bronze and Gold: Gigabyte, Antec, Thermaltake, MSI, Deepcool, other TechFast-approved

  • +1

Happy to see motherboards where a WiFi card will actually fit

    • +6

Where are you pulling the 30% figure from? It’s less than 10% on 1440p. Completely overstated and it’s virtually a non issue unless you are planning on playing on low settings at 1080p.

      https://www.cpuagent.com/build-compare/amd-ryzen-5-5600x-vs-…

    • Depends on what games you play. If you mainly play esport games at 1080p then sure there would be a huge CPU bottleneck. But if you play at 1440p/4K with RT on then the 3080 will be stressed way before even 50% of the CPU power is utilised.

    • You can run a 3080 on an i3 processor at 4k resolution and barely be bottlenecked lol.

    • +1

I have to agree with some of the other comments.
If you use this tool (not sure how accurate it is)
      https://pc-builds.com/bottleneck-calculator/result/1fB174/3/…
Then anything above 1080p is minimal bottlenecking. 1080p you're probably looking at 21.5% bottlenecking.
1440 seems to be around than 7%, so not terrible.
At 4k about 2.5%, so very minimal.

ETA i need a PC fast

    • +2

      1-2 months probably

      • Woah! Thanks for that. Not exactly "Tech Fast" than! Hahaha 👍

        • +5

No no, it is Fast as in "A period of such abstention or self-denial". When you order it, you observe a period of Tech Fasting.

          • @FabMan: Hahaha I like that 😂

    • +1

Keep in mind they don't have a phone number when buying and needing in a hurry.

  • -8

Or build your own PC for similar price and choose a less ugly more compact case.

Not sure why anyone would deliberately get a full size ATX these days. They are bulky and ugly, a waste of space.

Max size for any new build should be mATX. Personally I like even smaller, mini-ITX, as they can still fit full size GPU and most CPU coolers. For the case, get one where GPU faces down and then you put 2x120 intake fans on bottom of case, feeding air directly to GPU. This will keep noise down and actually be better cooling than a full size case where intake fans are at front.

    • +4

      Interesting.
I got the same case for a PC we built for one of my kids - I was very impressed with it. Was better than my old Fractal and dirt cheap. The fans are incredibly quiet and it just looks decent.
I prefer ATX though, just more room everywhere. Can't be arsed trying to micro manage every cord and cable.

      • -6

        more room everywhere

Room for what? If you need DVD burners and mechanical hard drives then go for it! But with NVMe taking over, there's not many cables left to manage.

Sounds like you'd like mATX cases. Still room for a couple of 3.5 inch drives and multiple SSD drives and full size power etc, but in a nicer case that doesn't look like it's from 2009!

    • People who buy pre builds usually aren’t the kind to build their own pc. But I get what you mean.

  • +2

I bought one of these a month ago for more, worse case (although they upgraded it), and less SSD, it hasn't even shipped yet… Oh well.

    • +2

contact techfast and cancel the order/complain about the price change/slow shipping. can't hurt.

    • One month to be shipped? WTF

  • -2

4060 may come soon, lower wattage and the same performance as 3080. So it is the time to clear the stock.

    • I dunno. The RTX 4070 ti is only about 20% faster than the 3080 and it's 3 classes of card above the potential 4060 after the 4060 ti and 4070. I get the feeling a 4060 is going to be more like a 3070/ti.

    • +1

You really need to ignore the youtuber hype train until the product lands.

The 4060 ti is supposed to have 4352 CUDA cores, thats close to half a 3080. Also a 128 bit bus.
      https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-4060-ti.c3…

Comparing the 3060ti to the rumored 4060 https://technical.city/en/video/GeForce-RTX-3060-Ti-vs-GeFor…

This looks like absolute trash, weaker than a 3060ti, so Nvidia will probably sell it for $500 USD. Most likely the 4060 will be 20% better than a 3060 at best.

I suggest you pickup a deal on a 3070 or 3080 now. Nvidia has already shown us they are increasing prices, not decreasing

      • You really need to ignore the youtuber hype train until the product lands.

        Applause! lol!

  • -1

Fair enough, good price. However I would want a better cpu to drive the 3080, so the 3070 build makes more sense. Of course whether this matters depends on your game, GPU bound games will benefit from the 3080.

    • +5

      A 5600 wont bottleneck the 3080

    • +3

Not many games would cause 5600 to bottle neck 3080 these days: https://youtu.be/eqmRvTz0kbA

I run 5600x with 3090 using max frame rate capped at monitor refresh rate 170hz. No games I play use 100% CPU.

  • +1

Be aware, Gigabyte Gaming X is a low end board, MOSFET can get very hot. It can handle a Ryzen 7 stock fine, but needs some decent air flow in the case IMO. https://youtu.be/HSY9rDsQgd4

Vrm cooling is not the definitive review metric, but sth to keep in mind, as heat is not good for electronics.

  • does it come with any fans

    • 2 RGB fans in the front and a non RGB fan in the back.

  • +2

Could either of these service me for 3-4 years as a casual gaming(1440p) and WFH(office docs) tower?

In regards to wifi 6, ddr5, USB C video out.

  • What sort of delivery timeframe on these units? My concern is I order and I'm still waiting a month later like one of the previous posters.

    • Yeah a rough ETA window would be appreciated whatever it may be.

  • I have ddr5 ram stick can I replace the one here with what I have?

    • DDR4 only on this mobo.

  • Thinking of getting the 3080 build for my brothers birthday. Would the 240mm AIO liquid cooling be adequate for the system's cooling needs?

    • I don't see why not when they're selling the system without AIO at all as a base spec

    • I have a 5600x and 3070 build in this case with 120mm AIO. The CPU is never close to hot, just sits 20c above water temp. Nothing more is necessary until a 5800 or above CPU!

  • I wonder why they didn't have 5600x as an upgrade option

Thinking of finally biting the bullet but the internet's doesn't have alot of performance charts for 5600 and 3080

    • +2

There is a very small performance difference between the 5600 and 5600x so you should be fine looking at reviews with the 5600x in use.

  • is it worth getting an aftermarket cooler?

    • +1

Probably not, stock cooler won't really hinder your performance. Main advantage of aftermarket would be lower noise and aesthetics if you care about either

  • +1

Any idea if I can put this on my business and get my GST back? Not sure if gaming on invoice would matter

    • What does it matter if it has gaming on the invoice? The same hardware can and is used for business use and I have personally never had any issues before, as long as it is being used for business purposes you should be just fine.

      • +1

        "predominantly" in use in business.
The way to determine that is up to you (business hours, needed it for business, etc).

        • Nice add and a bit more clear, which I hoped "business purposes" would cover.

  • +1

@luketechfast I ordered my PC a month ago. I was told dispatch would be 14 business days, but it's clearly been a lot longer than that. No one is replying to my emails. Can you please provide an update?

  • I noticed this is a LHR, does that matter for mining now or have they been hacked?

  • how much longer will this deal be on for?

  • @luketechfast I ordered the 5600-3070ti on 26th Jan, but the status on the website is still "processing". I sent emails but no response. Can you please update?
The website states 1-day dispatch for non-personalized towers.

  • @luketechfast any idea why my PC is coming up as $1789 with the code and not $1688 as advertised?

    • shipping?

      • Nah, shipping is a separate line item

        • after shipping and code it comes with 1769 for me so that is quite strange

  • +1

Has anyone that purchased the 3080 system received their PC yet?

Tempted to go with a Techslow PC just because the price is so competitive but there seem to be a fair few threads on reddit about components failing and more recently a GPU that had been ripped out of the PCIE slot.

Would love to DIY but for the same money I can only piece together a 3060Ti build.
