Very good bargain for the price, from my past experience even though Sony says its refurb, they are most likely new.

no, defo not new, probably returns within 30 days - mine were open with hair

  • +6

These suck. Good sound, terrible design.

    • @Pootie Tang did you find them good for calls and noise cancelling

      • +2

Sound and noise cancelling is good. Voice calls suck.

Would recommend the XM4's instead if you can get a good deal on them. It was a great upgrade for me going from XM3 to XM4. Think ebay refurbs were going for $185. I got them from Amazon Black Friday for $229.

        • Thanks @impulse555 I can live with the good sound and noise cancelling. I agree XM4 are better.

        • +2

Rtings butchered the XM4's for their sound quality. Wouldn't touch em if you care about sound quality.

      • Terrible for calls. Excellent for NC on a flight but still use qc35s on a flight and these in a terminal generally

      • Pixel buds pro for calls

    • Pootie dont need no sound

      • Truth. Keep that noise out

    • I thought Sony audio products were known for design?

      • +1

Doesn't mean they're immune to bad models.

  • yikes @OzzySkink that's not a positive experience, lets see what will I get.

  • +2

Why would they be new if it say refurb?! Only new when it says box damaged. Big difference.

  • +3

These are painful to wear for more than 10 minutes.

    • +4

Wow, you can wear these for 10mins without them falling out?

  • +1

Try tapping your teeth together when you wear these. They make a strange sound in response.

  • 🤢🤮

  • +1

They don't check battery wear so yours might only last 1 hour between charges.

    • +2

This is what happens to my left one. Only lasts an hour from full charge, no fancy effects or noise cancellation turned on. Right one still works fine.

Contacted support, it costs $126 upfront for them to even consider looking at it. In the same email they also offered a trade in to get the WF1000XM4B for $224.98

      • So, how did the XM4s work out ?

        • I didn't go through with it, felt like a poor offer considering their prices on StaticIce

  • Imagine using second hand earbuds. Shoving someone's ear canal fluids and hair into your own is f^#$@#ing disgusting.

No way in hell are these cleaned to a remotely acceptable standard (personal experience, my seconds bose earbuds were oily).

    • +9

Or, you know, use your own tips.

      Just the tip.

So you had a bad experience purchasing a different product from a different seller? Cool story.

    • +1

Genuine question, if you think it's disgusting why did you buy seconds?

    • +1

You obviously should be cleaning second hand and even new items.

  • Eww

I bought these Sony WF1000XM3B [ [Seconds] an year ago. Looked new when i received. Works well no complaints. It was top notch noise cancelling ear pods when it got released. Don't think it is still the best as you have more options today. Case is bit bulkier.
I noticed that sometimes right earbud discharge faster than left ear bud. Also, buds pops out of ear easily. You may be able to fix it by changing the rubber/silicon tips. I haven't used any other earpods to compare with. I believe these earbuds are not bad at this price.

    • Did you notice the discharge when you bought them or was it until later. Wondering if it was someone else's discharge on it which would be a big no no.

      • +5

Lol I think they mean battery drain

  • +2

I bought the refurb 4s (the newer version, I don't understand the complicated naming scheme), and they are much better than this model. Pay the extra $30 or so, the design is better and don't fall out of my ears like this one. And it was pretty much brand new

  • +2

Few months back i got these. The same used ones on sony ebay store. They were as good as brand new. I could hardly find any difference to say they are seconds.

  • It is waaaay better than my $28 Soundpeats?

    • Bluetooth won't be cutting out every now and then with the Sonys.

      • Doesn't cut out with my Soundpeats either.. infact it has never cut off for me.

        • I need to replace mine. The right ear is really quiet. Cleaned the tip but no good

  • +1

Cheers! Can't say my experience with the ones I got years ago match most of the negative comments here, fit perfectly and have had zero issues. Just picked up a second pair for another device.
    great price.

  • Whats the difference between XM3 and XM3B

    • B is for black, they come in silver also. They may have a different listing for sliver

    • one is black

  • My left earphone (on a new pair) are no longer working and it is out of warranty. Any idea on how to fix this? Have tried recharging via computer several times but no luck.

  • hmmm been on the hunt for in ears like these but with better latency on PC.

  • Remember all the reviews saying how great these were, and then after buying a sec realised how full of shit those reviews. Worst pair of headphones I have used for it is disgusting. Sound was average in mikes were terrible and thinks these would goated next to AirPods is a joke.

    • That's not necessarily true. When you buy seconds you have a chance of buying broken products that people have returned, and Sony never bothered to test, instead they use you to test. First pair I got sounded great but had a clicking sound, returned that, next pair sounded like crap, did a chargeback via ebay, didn't even have to return them, but will never use them as the sound is so bad.

There's still the problem with how ridiculously large they are, and how they want to fall out of your ears all the time

What next…refurb electric toothbrushes? So gross

    • Don't you replace the toothbrush head anyway?
Not that I'm going to buy second hand toothbrush, BTW.

  • +1

    Wouldn't recommend these.
    Great sound and noise cancellation.
Horrible fit, too heavy, they hurt and fall out

The Sennheiser momentum TW are far better

  • bought it. I mostly want it because I already own a pair but lost the charging case. Great price. The audio is great btw

  • Ignore the reviews saying how their seconds are like new. My experience with Sony seconds was terrible. They sell returned items even without basic cleaning or repackaging. You must be very lucky to get a new one at the price of a second. Simple economics, but people just don't believe it, like buying a lottery.

Wireless IEMs aint it. They just arent there yet. They all sound like dog shit

    • +2

Did you have to lay on the ground to get close enough to listen?

  • @eBay its basically useless, after sales services are crap. I just feel wasting money, ebay is systematically stealing money.
