  • Do they clean the refurbished headphones?

    • +2

I'm sure they put the headphones under a UV light to disinfect the dead skin and hair before repackaging and sending it to your door.

      • Will that remove the ear wax ?

        • -4

You'd have to be overflowing with ear wax to get it on headphones and you should see a doctor if that is the case.
Earbuds/IEMs definitely get waxy, headphones not so much.

Short answer: yes, with an if. Long answer: no… with a but.

When I returned my headphone version of these earbuds for repair, they had ear wax on the cloth of the speakers, I tried wiping it off due to the shame of being known as waxxy guy. I couldn't get the wax out, when they came back they were completely wax free. So I think if they have to open the headphones up they replace the thin layer of foam over the speaker, possibly for their own health.

The buds are different ofcourse with replaceable inserts, so buy refurbished and you'll get new inserts

Surely more of a question for Sony than AusRetro who has done his/her bit in coming up with a sharply priced deal for the community?

        I was asking the OP.

    • +1

No. I received one and returned, which looks disugustingly as used.

The xm4s are pretty solid. Way better design than the 3s

    • And much better battery life. That's what convinced me to finally upgrade

  • I bought an a80j Friday :(

Thanks OP, didn't realise the XM4 had dropped in price that much, even for a refurb. Picked one up!

Black must be sold out. Your link goes to white and I can't find them anywhere in the Sony eBay store

edit*: Here is my search of the Sony eBay store for "WF1000XM4"

Comes up with white coloured seconds but black colour only as new

  • I wish wH1000XM4 were part of these sales.

  • Does this come in original packaging or just a shrink wrap or something?

    Cheers OP! 🍻

Picked up a refurb Sony 4K Blu-ray player for around $165.

If anyone is interested it's the Sony UBPX700 (Seconds^) UBP-X700 Premium 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player

Looks like it's out of stock atm but seems to come back in stock every now and then.

  • Got my XM4 earphones today, but the packaging looked pretty beat up. Not sure how many times they've been returned. They came with 3 earbud sizes and had amazing noise-cancellation and sound quality. But they're made of memory foam so they won't last long. Plus, the earphones and case had fingerprints on them which was kind of disappointing. But at least they didn't have any ear wax or debris. Overall, pretty happy with them, but they don't fit well while running so I have to return them.

  • Got mine yesterday - looked brand new. Sound quality is great but unfortunately people have trouble hearing me speak - I cut in and out and volume is very low. Updated firmware, etc but no chage.

Guessing this are defective and will return. Disappointing….

  • Got my XM4's a couple of days ago, they look like new and the sound quality is great. Noise cancelling is OK but high pitched sounds still get through as per most of the reviews. Battery life seems well under the quoted 8 hours but I will reserve judgement until I have charged them a few more times. Call quality was fine with mine, and connection was stable with no drop outs. Comfort and fit with the memory foam tips was really good for me.

I compared the Sony's back to back with my cheap $25 QCY-T13's and while the Sony's do sound better, it is not night and day. I am amazed that these cheap QCY's are 80-90% as good as the $350 Sony's for only 10% of the price. These punch WAY above their weight. I will say that the QCY's do have the occasional connection dropout which is annoying.

    • After a bit more time with these, I am finding the noise cancelling to be not very impressive at all. It just seems to dull surrounding noise slightly but I can still hear everything? Not sure if these are faulty or that is normal? Many reviews say these are one of the best for noise cancelling so I am confused?

  • Received mine today.
Nil issues. Box was all stickered up as seconds but the case and the headphones were fine.

Excellent seal and noise cancelling compared to the Airpod Pros (1st gen). A bit more pressure in the canal because of the seal but still comfortable and way more secure than the Airpods which fall out with medium physical activity.
