I really liked my 1st Apple Watch, tracking my runs and exercises, but after a few years I realised I didn't need the technology on my wrist (of course it helps), and if I wanted a smart watch to track runs and etc I could find alternative and cheaper options out there, that would definitely last more than the Apple watches.
I just replaced my Series 5 Nike edition for $129 battery service fee. They give me basically a brand new same version watch scratch free, new battery etc and a brand new warranty. Amazing value.
So pretty much what you're telling me is that you spent close to $500.00 brand new back in 2019, and 3 years later you paid an extra $129.00 to get a brand new replacement. Sorry, but I have to disagree with you, FOR ME it's not an amazing deal.
I know you will throw all the pros of the Apple watch and trust me, I get it, it is an amazing piece of tech, but I just don't see myself spending $600 bucks every three years for something that will become obsolete in 5 years or less.
I still have my Apple Watch Series one which is unusable. I can't even get only the CLOCK to work as it needs to be paired with my phone and yara, yara, yara.
That's why I decided to go back to old watches, and NO you can't compare a mechanical watch to the smart watches out there.
That's what I think.
I replaced my series 3 with series 8 this year finally. Didn't wait until the battery depletes, but rather watchOS support is ended. Though I'm happy with s3 for the past 5 years, and sure will be happy with s8 for the next 5 years.
