After going crazy at the David Jones sale my wife would kill me if I buy another watch

Definitely don't buy a Tesla without her permission then.

  • Noice πŸ‘πŸ‘. I am still devastated that I was too slow to grab any of the DJs watch sale bargains, I am so devastated I might pass on these one. But Good price & nice watch.

Looks tough and reminds me of G-Steel series, but this is more refined and better looking. Colours are on point as well.
I'm not into the G-Steel G-shocks, but if I was I would consider getting something like this over one of those.
Only leather band, but has Sapphire Glass. (But maybe the metal band version on sale is comparable price to a G-Steel - Edit: Can't find this colour with metal band, the rest don't look as good)

By the way guys, as it says in the deal. Radio time sync (called Atomic timekeeping with Casio's) will not work in Australia.

OP maybe good idea to put "Solar" in the title. At least that's what the specs say it's Solar recharging.

    • I prefer my G Steel over this one.

      • Fair enough.

On closer inspection, I thought the bezel on the Citizen was thicker than it is. So G-Steel definitely wins on toughness.

I guess what was swaying me was I definitely preferred all analog dials on the Citizen and the seconds hand (removed on G-Steel from B400 onwards). I am not really a fan of Ana/Digi, even though I know a lot of Analog G-shock fans would probably disagree. There was a user that commented here recently that mentioned the Ana/Digi aspect of their G-Steel was a must.

        • Each to their own I say. I have the black GSTB500 and love it.

  • too bad the radio frequency function doesn't work in australia.
Wonder if there's a playstore ap that can mimic the radio frequency to trick your watch into calibrating

    • "Wonder if there's a playstore ap that can mimic the radio frequency to trick your watch into calibrating"

Yeah I read in forums you can download the frequency and play it. But one guy said it works best if you have a proper broadcasting antennae, and even then sometimes it doesn't work. Same guy said it's quicker and easier to just set the time manually lol.

I have this one, bought at same price in the end year / xmas sale.
One thing that they could alter on the specifications as listed is that it DOES have an alarm (although for my ears it is too high pitched to be properly audible, I have to hold the watch up to my ear!). Obviously your mileage may vary, and I hope anyone reading this has better outcome than I do for that. (older ears on my head and had some loud noise in my youth have affected high pitch in particular - my son hears the alarm from across the room.) Note that it only sounds for 15 seconds I think, so might not be enough to wake you.

I've tried an app to do the radio time synch, but not with any success to date. That would have been a 'nice to have'. It keeps good time anyway, and I'm now not travelling for work anything like as much as I did in the past.

  • Just check that atomic clock works in Aus.
Otherwise Bluetooth sync is the go

  • Even though you can download the phone app to get the radio control to work, but bear in mind this Caliber doesn't have the time zone for Adelaide and Darwin, so if you live in one of these cities then the radio control is literally useless…
