    • Really regret buying this. It is a bit better than basic ice cream. But lacks good flavour. And is a lot of air.

      • I did not pay for OP's favourite via Bunch not long ago.

        Freebie makes it taste better!

        • Yes… Best time to try products - when they're FREE! (Or half price)

But would have regretted the waste even if free!
Quality ingredients makes it taste better - than this!

@INFIDEL: Damn! Taking this off my shopping list after reading your comment.
But what is up with those 220+ votes?

              @DoctorCalculon: Coz
of this reason. Sugar makes friends.

Also I find ice cream businesses are easy to attract high ratings than others.

Tried this and wasn’t that impressed.

  • +1

Bought the hokey pokey last time it was on special. It tasted like crappy homebrand vanilla ice cream with a few pieces of hokey pokey in it.

Get the vanilla connoisseur when it's on special. 36% cream and 92g/100ml. That's about the same density as Ben and Jerry's and twice as dense as most of the shitty ice cream you find at the supermarket.

    • Same experience with the hokey pokey, overly sweet even for hokey pokey and not a particularly rich mouth feel.

  • +1

good ice cream do not have that much preservatives.

  • Anyone know why movenpik was closed. Went into George street under HSBC and it's gone

  • +1

Anyone know why they stopped selling the churro ice cream this brand

    • Why else? Likely not popular enough

  • Used to buy this all the time back home in NZ and is way better than Tip Top. Stoked that they're available here now

  • +1

In the spirit of sharing, as we do here, I will let you in on a little secret. Bulla Murray Street Ice Cream Honey & Salted Caramel Peanut is the most delicious ice-cream of all time! It also regularly goes on half price sales. Be warned!

    • +1

You havent tried Maggie Beers burnt fig, honeycomb, and caramel I see.

      • That's my favourite supermarket icecream! My Woolies no longer stocks it though.

  • +2

Got a four flavour tub last night, wouldn't buy again even at this price. I'd be very disappointed at full price, not premium in the slightest.

  • +3

Thanks OP. In our house we enjoy the salted caramel and hokey pokey.
Everyone has different tastes but I am a little perplexed by all those saying that they didn’t enjoy this ice cream.

    • -1

Bought the salted caramel today on early recommendations here.
More a basic cheap ice cream, with extra creaminess (likely due to manufacturing process & use of chemicals). Lacks good flavour.
Not looking forward to finishing it. First ice cream I've ever considered binning.
The Boysenberry was worse. Very little Boysenberries or flavour.

    • I think expectations were too high. It's not a premium ice cream. They do that in the 1l tubs. I do think it's good value though.

  • +1

    Bulla ..

  • +1

This isn't a premium ice cream.

Full retail price in NZ is NZ$7.50, so about $7.

You're not buying an $11 ice cream.

  • Actually managed to get offered 10L of this stuff in 4 different flavours through bunch recently. Is this a newly released product at Woolies?

  • Can anyone confirm this is In store as well as online

  • +1

I received a 2L tub of the hokey pokey flavour as a free sample through Bunch a few weeks ago. I love ice cream, and this stuff was … OK, but I wouldn't rave about it. Stays very soft in the freezer, not quite sure how to describe the taste and texture but it was almost too creamy (I think more noticeable because it was so soft), and it was very sweet, wasn't a favourite in our household at all. Don't know how on earth Woolies can justify charging $11 for a 2L tub, I wouldn't buy it even at half price.

    • +1

I agree. Without a doubt the worst Hokey Pokey I have ever tried. It is basically vanilla ice cream with a hint of hokey pokey flavouring through some parts of it - no chunks/pieces that I found.

Compared to Connoisseur ice cream (yes, twice the price), this stuff is awful. IMO it is worth paying the extra few dollars to get something with some decent flavour and texture.

I would never buy Much Moore again.

  • +2

Meh. Can’t eat cheap ice cream. Look at the ingredient list. I can deal with Connoisseur vanilla but Häagen-Dazs is the real deal.

    • Hmm.. going for the Dominos / HJs crowd. More bang and calories for the $$… much, 'Much Moore'…

  • +1

Ehhh, prefer to support aussie made food. Looks like Milfina Aldi stuff.

  • The 1 litre tubs are better quality. I find to be as good as the others if not better, and the price is always what I wait for the others to be on special. Probably prefer Kapiti which is also kiwi from Aldi, but stock is always unreliable near me.

  • Can people please stop posting irresistible stuff like this. It's not helping me with my "eat well" motto and stay away from junk. #firstworldproblems
    Oh the temptation. :)

    This is sold out everywhere.

    • +1

Based on the weather here in SE Qld, I was expecting stock levels to be pretty terrible. Stock seems to be everywhere.

      • I'm in brisbane. I'm going to have another look. Maybe restocked. Yay

        • +1

I just did a brief skim over a few suburbs using their store finder and it was green everywhere I looked.

        • Local Woolies in Brissie today had end fridge at back with it stored in bottom, still wrapped in plastic. There wasn't enough room in normal section + front end fridge. Staff said they had too much out the back.
          All varieties in stock.

          • @INFIDEL: My woolies was fully stocked today. Bought 4 caramel. Yay.

  • +2

Their salted caramel ice-cream is like crack. Best avoided if you don't want an addiction

    • Must be I'm not an addict like some. Didn't like it! Eat little but better tasting & quality ice creams.

    • +1

Agreed, their salted caramel is best.

Whats the quality of the actual Ice Cream and not just the flavours compared to the proper premium brands? For me thats what makes the biggest difference in the end. Sure flavours and flavour types are important but the quality of the ice cream can make flavours that you dont normally like still taste good.

  • I went to buy this and then saw the "made in New Zealand" and because I have heard (and I may be wrong - please - gently correct me if I am) that if it is "made in New Zealand" it could be made in NZ but using e.g. milk from China or anywhere else so I hesitated. Does anyone know if it is Kiwi produced milk and Kiwi-grown boysenberries? Thanks.

      you scared? lol

    • Just turn the lights off and see if it glows in the dark ?

  • +1

Chemically tasting “ice cream”, I threw it out because it was so bad

  • +1

to me… this wasn't worth it as I had this last time it was on sale - awful stuff esp that foursome combo. Just because its half price doesn't mean you should be stuffing this into your mouth.

Wish I could buy some decent coffee ice cream

    • Mungalli Espresso coffee if you can find some is the best coffee ice cream hands down winner

  • Best value cookie dough ice cream I've found, and they don't skimp on the dough either! I wish it were a more common flavour here.

  • tried this wasnt worth eating tbh

  • Just found some good vanila ice cream comparison on choice website: https://www.choice.com.au/food-and-drink/dairy/yoghurt-and-i…

  • I wonder why Bulla Murray St isn't included

The ingriedents just not as good… 25% cream/milk and carrageenan which is apparantly bad for you gut same goes for maltodextrin. So if you see carrageenan and maltodextrin, in ice cream or other foods, just try to avoid them in order to keep you gut happy!

"Some evidence suggests that carrageenan triggers inflammation, gastrointestinal ulcerations, and that it damages your digestive system. People have been petitioning for products with carrageenan to be labeled with a warning or removed entirely".

The best would be to make your own ice cream using A2 milk! Recepie is here: https://icecreamclub.tumblr.com/making-awesome-ice-cream

      • +4

Luckily Connoisseur vanilla doesn't have those 2 ingredients

      • +2

Thanks for letting us know ,
        Hadn't heard about that before.
Important to have a healthy gut , first line of defence really.
        Now how do I memorise
        Camelgup and malgexodromodery..?

  • +1

Was contemplating whether to purchase or not due to the mixed opinions here. But ended up purchasing a salted caramel and a mixed 4 flavour. Only tried the salted caramel, but imo it was pretty good

  • +1

Didn't believe it could be that good, and I am blown away, best salted caramel ice cream I have had in years

  • First time tried this icecream brand … went back for 15 more tubs for the freezer …

    Boysenberry is the bomb
