this is a good price (goodguyscommercial doesnt have it available just a fyi incase anyone was wondering) just LG customer service is TERRIBLE so its enough to make me pay extra for another brand tbh :(

  • Wonder what is the max cooling capacity in kW for the need of a separate line running from the fuse box? thanks in advance.

    • +1

It's not the cooling capacity but the power draw. They aren't the same. That's what makes these efficient. They don't draw 7kw of power.

In saying that, even though many smaller units could easily share a circuit, their install instructions stipulate they must be on a separate circuit.

    • +1

The installers will run the separate line from the fusebox as part of the install, it's not something you need to think about unless your fusebox is full…

  • Thinq app is good to turn on the AC remotely so its cool by the time you get home, but it can be very laggy as its server-bound even when on LAN. Such a shame when they don't allow local connections for IOT.

  • For a split second reading the title i thought there was a new LG oled model out.

  • No love for NSW

  • Perfect!
    Thanks op!

  • Will these run on a 10A circuit? Planning on installing induction hob soon and not sure if we'll have enough capacity??

    • 6kw needs 20A circuit

  • +1

Draws 6.8 amps cooling and 7.4 amps heating, is the induction hob a single plug in type, or a hard wired multi hot plate type?

    • Thanks, hob will be a 4 burner hard wired but we can live with limited burner use eg only 2 at once, if necessary to not overload circuit.

      • A 4 burner hardwired cooktop normally has its own dedicated electrical circuit as they draw more current than a 10 amp general purpose outlet circuit is rated to supply.

Is the hob to replace an existing cooktop?

        • Old hob was gas so no dedicated line in place. House is 500m away from main switchboard so not easy to upgrade capacity.
Anyway pulled the trigger on this as an additional AC is a priority and unlike a cooker it cant be powered by gas! (well not easily )

Been quoted between $800-1200 to install.
Back to back, single story, power already in place in Northern NSW. No more than three hours work
Think I'll get quotes again when it cools off!

    • +1

I think it’s the norm now

I just had one install. It easily took 3-4 hours.

  • Wowza that is cheap

  • Thanks OP, ordered with installation (VIC $749 for install) - perfect timing as the old ducted unit was end of life
Let's see how the installation goes

    • The $749 was also with TGG to do the install?

      • Yes total $1703 incldues delivery and install
Install booked for 17th Feb - let's see how much extra it ends up

        • Hope you have an easy fuss-free install with no surprise extras!

        • based on google result it is showing extra $!50 to $200 if wall bracket is used or needed

and need to pay for extra for electricity cable etc…(which is required for this unit)

Please let us know how much extra it costs you thanks mate.

  • Ordered 1 - seems like a good deal

  • Damn recently got this one recently. https://www.bunnings.com.au/mitsubishi-avanti-2-5kw-reverse-…

LG one looks way better is that right?

    • Yes. But that’s 2.5kw vs 6 here

  • Perfect, just what I was looking for. Thanks OP.

  • Got one thank you !

Anyone can recomment a reliable installer in Melbourne East area ? Already has three phase electrical system so I assume no modification needed.

TGG charging $749 for installation but I believe they just subcontract to whoever is cheapest

    • +1

749 is approx the norm for this size unit

  • Bought one for my parents. They have 1k voucher from Victorian energy scheme. Hope i can use that 1k for installation. Anyone any recommendation for an installer who is eligible for this scheme and can assist 1k voucher.

    • I got mine through bridge energy.

    • TGG also offers this service and their price for the split systems and installation cost is also much better than others.

I've the $1k voucher as well. I rang up to order online under this scheme and they wouldn't let me because they need to send someone out to do an assessment first. They couldn't book assessment until 20th of Feb and said I could only get this price if sale still current after assessment. Then rang back to get an invoice/quote sent out without mentioning the $1k scheme. Got one sent out, but only valid for a week. So not sure if it helps!

Anyone had any luck pre purchasing the air con before assessment and still claiming the $1k?

      • How did you get the token? I thought the process was that you got the quote first from TGG then they will upload that quote to SolarVIC for you to apply for the token. How can you get the token without the quote?

        • I don't know if program has changed. But about a month ago, probably on ozbargain, i saw something about the promo saying application was closing at midnight that night. got application in, that didn't ask anything about quotes. now have until April 30 for approved quote and installation before june 30.

  • my room is 25sqm, will it be bad idea to buy as i would also like to cool other areas with doors open?

    • I do something similar in a room. Just note that cos it’s a large system; the unit is quit large compared to smaller wattage units. So factor that in on your decision

    • 6kw is way too large.

  • is this too bid for 25sqm?

    • Yes; unless the room is facing towards the rest of the house and could cool that down too with the door open.
Just note that high kw units are a bit
Bigger than smaller units so depending on the room and where it’d be installed

Bought one yesterday, delivered 10mins ago. Made in Korea. Thanks Op

  • I’m after one for the bedroom, any one have any recommendations? Or is this a good option.

    • I think this one is too big for bedroom . But I am not sure the down side if u still use it in ur bedroom. It cools faster

  • Delivered on a Sunday. Good deal this one.

  • +1

Does anyone know they will throw away the old aircon???

    • I asked

$149 on top as a minimum

  • Also any one have bad experience with booking their 699 service agent.. all bad review relates to not getting an appointments or reschedule for months

  • Very cool that electricity prices are skyrocketing because people can't be bothered designing, insulating and draft sealing their houses properly, then whacking these monstrosities in there. Straya!

    • +2

Don't you have solar on your house ? This isn't going to contribute much to rising electricity prices when even a modest solar system will easily cover it's consumption during the day 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • If anyone has purchased this and received it? Keen to know max amp draw listed on the outdoor unit. I know the website states running amp of 6.8 and 7.4. thanks

  • I don’t mind paying the $749 for installation
But i have a defective unit atm
Does any one know a good way to avoid the $149 removal and disposal fee from tgg?

    • You might be able to just drop it off at your local tip for quite a lot less, but check with them first ! Mine charges by weight…

    • Free council hard rubbish collection. Most accept ACs. Best to check with your council first.

  • Is anyone else having issues purchasing the air con? I tried last night and I couldn't purchase it by selecting the pick up in store option (no stores within 500km have stock was the error reported) and when selecting delivery, it says it's unavailable to deliver. I'm in Brisbane so it should be available as per the note on the page.

    • Just called the main Good Guys call centre and was told there is NO stock available anywhere in QLD but stock is still available in Victoria. They can't transfer stock/deliver to Brisbane or the Gold Coast either (despite the listing saying it's available to Brisbane and the Gold Coast) and he advised that they won't be restocking either.

      • Sounds like it's OOS in QLD now. I was able to get one last Sunday in store and the rep said they can deliver it right the next day. I scheduled a delivery for next week.

  • Wondering if this would be efficient to cool living, kitchen, dining in an open plan double storey?

    • +1

      Yes

  • Ahhh I missed it. Thot gonna buy it today but now price gone up.

    • Same. @Danstar was late to respond.. lol😂😂

      • Was waiting for quotes fr installers in my case haha

      • :`(

  • Just got mine installed, online says no stock, but Good Guys Home services reckon the have heaps left in the warehouse. Mine was only delivered last weekend.

Awesome deal with full switchboard upgrade and installation costing $1774 in total! They give extra rebate if upgrading switchboard.

    • How have you found it ?

I had mine installed Cross roof line to middle of single story home to a cathedral ceiling

cost $1300 took 2 extremely hot days.

And I recon its much better than My Mitz Electric 7.1kw

Very quiet with Fan on low, great air flow , and very quick to start blowing cool then cold air

      Very happy with it

      • +1

Happy so far, mine was internal wall. Was able to avoid pump drain into roof by going under house. Love having the app control so can turn on when not home and sun shining on solar panels.
